I’ve been to Taiwan and had a variety of stinky tofu. The least stinky ones are actually enjoyable, but the really stinky ones really taste like you are eating someone else’s shit for real.

The real stinky tofu that the Taiwanese eat in night markets / for dinner is actually delicious. It’s the dish that the old lady bought out after Hamish finished the “level 15” one. It’s usually deep fried with some pickled cabbage. You can also get it in a soup with other ingredients which is again very palatable even for a foreigner.

But the thing is, the Taiwanese version of stinky tofu isn't actually "real" stinky tofu... It's mostly just garlic and picked veggies with a slight hint of fermentation. The real stuff is black stinky tofu.

It does stink badly the black one I tried it's hard to explain the taste and it's a weird taste but u continuing eating well for some refuse
