I didn't know it was out as early as May ! So maybe it is their first ever release if it was early May ? Where did you take that info ? Maybe there was a date on the cover like many japanese releases ? I don't remember...

I was surprised when I first heard this, too- but it's in the Japanese version of the biography "Boy George & Culture Club" by Maria David. It has a full discography in the back with UK and Japanese release dates from the first two albums. Everything else lines up accurately with what I know, so I trust this. "Mystery Boy" predates release dates being printed on the record sleeves, but it's catalog number VIPX-1667) is sequentially earlier than the one on Do You Really Want To Hurt Me (VIPX-1687), so it definitely pre-dates that single release.
