Culture Festival in Reykjavik | August in Iceland

Menningarnótt in Icelandic translates to “culture night” which is a festival in Reykjavik Iceland held every year in August to mark the end of summer. Events are held all around the city including music, art, and fun family-friendly activities. People even open their homes to the public to serve coffee and cakes! This is a fun time to just wander around the city and stop at anything that catches your eye. In true Icelandic fashion, a big fireworks display is lit off at the end of the night!

Strætó (the city buses) will be free all over the city for the day. If I remember correctly they have been doing that for a few years now, to try to have less traffic around the city center.

I still miss Iceland 🇮🇸since I was on holiday 2010 with magic 14 days and unbelievable great moments.☺️I had saw a lot of countries before but I can't remember that I had a bigger wish to go back after my stay . Is this footage from a different year? You state that the festival takes place the third weekend of August.

Yes. Since Menningarnótt is always on the 18th of August (Reykjavík’s “birthday”), if that is a Saturday or the Saturday after if it isn’t it hasn’t been held yet this year. So this is not footage from 2022.
