Lwanda Magere: This is a story with origin directly in the heart of the Nile Valley civilization. Due to climate change the people in the Sahara region (egypt at the centre of it) dispersed in different directions. The Luos moved south, others moved west and some went even across the red sea and to present day middle east, Asia etc. The biblical stories, especially the Old testament, now dominated and told only by the whites calling themselves Jews draw all or most originally from the Nile Valley civilization. The Luos moved south and kept this story as Lwanda Magere. Those said to be associated with biblical Moses went to the present israel/ palestine. That same story is told there as that of Samson. Lwanda had his secret in his shadow and Samson had his in the hair. Both are tricked by women of the enemy tribes... It is the same story born in the Nile valley but have minor differences because as people move in different directions they accordingly develop differences in names, characters etc. Another thing: Look at this: the Acoli and Alur (LUOS in Uganda) have the story of the parting water (Nile). Gipir crossed the Nile at Pugungu after driving the axe at the bank and the nile parted to allow him with his People to move to the other side as Labongo remaind on one side as the leader of the Acoli. You remember the biblical Moses and the crossing of the red sea. It all goes back to the stories that had evolved along the Nile Valley civilization. Without a doubt: The old testament story is in a major part (more than 60%) from the Nile valley civilization. We were duped. Apwoyo matek, Agoyo ero kameno.

And now all our people do is dress in suits and toes and worship this Church of England God rather than staying with tradition and worshipping Nyasai and our ancestors

A beautiful explanation of the history of the Luo and their neighbours. To what extent is the ancient disagreements between the Luos and other neighbours continue to dictate their inter relationship? Have they forgiven each other and consolidated their relationship as one people? If not, would you say that the ancient quarrels are influencing the outcome of Presidential Elections in Kenya today? To what extent do you think those ancient disagreements are hindering Kenya's desire for leadership in the region and throughout Africa?

Highly recommend that you acquaint yourself with the study of linguistics, especially the principles of the degree of "mutual intelligibility" among similar languages separated through time and geography, cause that what you are grappling with and trying to unravel !!!

@@njx0077 Nyanza/Nyasa means Lake in some Bantu languages. So Lake Nyanza/Nyasa means Lake Lake! In Luo language, Lolwe means endless, large beyond description. And Nam means Lake. So Nam Lolwe in Luo language, which means Lake Lolwe makes sense.
