The problem with this video is, first of all, being in Belgrade and not visiting historical places. You were in the "old part" of the town and you haven't even visited Kalemegdan??? The buildings you took shots of were so dull because you only put dull ones in the video. That part of town is actually famous for old Austro-Hungary style of buildings that are actually gorgeous. Maybe if you went to Knez Mihajlova that is like only THE MOST FAMOUS STREET IN BELGRADE, you would see it. How about visiting Saint Sava temple, the second-biggest orthodox temple in this part of Europe? Talking about the buildings, it would also be nice for you to visit old RTS (radio-television of Serbia) or what is left of it after NATO bombing. It is a monument in the center of the city, only a few streets from the park you ate that food in. Be happy that Serbia as a country allows Americans to come to our soil after bombing us for 78 days. Maybe that is a cultural shock to you??? Your president Biden initiated the attack. No gangs on the street, homeless people? Unlike America, Serbia and Belgrade have an extensive history that can be seen if you really wanted to show. This whole video is just bashing and trying to show the negative sides of a place. It feels like you "tried" to make it as worst as possible. One of the things that can back me up is you recording construction sites? Who would put construction sites in a video talking about the "cultural shocks"? Cultural shock is you being welcomed in the country you bombed and whose buildings your country destroyed and then coming to record that same place and those buildings with additional commentary. Shame on you.

It is a cultural shock that we smoke so much maybe because we are in top 5 smoker countires in the world? The buildings are run down, some of them haven't been painted since they were built 100 years ago. @@teamacio9043 @teamacio9043 Hahaha this response is cringe on soo many levels. First of all, do you even know anything about America? Well, let me educate you. People there have no health care (it costs insanely and people are dying), gun violence (the most kids in America die because of it, even more than in car accidents or illnesses), do you know how many people are living on the streets (homeless) in that same America??? It is all a facade, that country is in worse condition than Serbia. Sorry if I am not sucking dick to a country that bombed us. Did you see a video of current president Biden initiating NATO attack on Serbia? Also, do you even know how many people are dying from the consequences of it (osiromasen uranijum) from cancer till this day? It is still in our soil all of that shit they threw when they bombed us!!! So what if we are smokers??? At least we didn't destroy the entire middle east and we are not acting like a world police. Look at America funding Israel and Ukraine. So no, I am not the issue here. People like you are. People who think I should support and respect country that destroys half of the globe. This kind of entitlement that comes from this woman in the video, is the problem. Go to your country and trash talk about it. As a guest in Serbia, you should be respectful and fair. Same as she made a video about my country, the least I can do is respond to that same video. And, as I was saying, it is kinda shocking to me that considering how bad that same America is , that she is shocked about anything. They have school shootings where kids are dying every other day, trans community where adult biological males are competing against biological woman, where they castrate kids to change their gender but SMOKING is shocking to her!!! Serbia emerged as an independent state in the 12th century, gaining prominence during the medieval period. However, the modern Kingdom of Serbia was officially formed in 1882, and the Kingdom later became part of the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats, and Slovenes in 1918, which eventually transformed into the Kingdom of Yugoslavia. The current Republic of Serbia was established on June 5, 2006, following the dissolution of the State Union of Serbia and Montenegro.

And before the 12th century? Serbia emerged as an independent kingdom after the uprisings during the fall of the Roman empire at the end of the 5th century. A whole line of kings (from Svevlad, to Bodin, to Jovan Vladimir) are a historical fact which prove this.

Im fully Serbian and some of my fellow natives are going to hate on me for this comment, but I HAVE to address couple of things here: 1. I DO in fact understand how smoking is a culture shock, just like smelling marihuana in every corner of Toronto was for me. TO BE HONEST many countries in Europe have designated places for smoking and we are currently facing the new law that would address the issue of smoking in public spaces 2. For my fellow confused natives - WE ARE what we call Southeast Europe, but most of other nations consider us Eastern European and it’s easier for them, just like we don’t make much difference between Americans and Canadians (and yes there is a difference much like the differences we have with Northern eastern Europeans - you do like drinking Šljivovica with Polish people, right)? 3. Although we have one of the richest histories in the world, I do understand the gloom that the grayscale architecture and dirty streets of Belgrade brought to your mood. There are some rudimental places in Belgrade that are not like that, but the brutalism and socialism got its way in painting its picture (even I don’t understand why we call this city the “White city”) 4. In regards to the previous, we have beautiful nature and other cities and towns that shine their brigthness and beauty through colors and beautiful architecture - Niš, Novi Sad, Kragujevac, Jagodina, Kruševac, Zrenjanin, Sombor, Subotica etc., south and north from Belgrade. Serbia is facing some difficult times in her geopolitical, financial and social history, but we are in fact a beautiful nation - we just cannot show it to you right now bcs our priorities are elsewhere - building those numerous apartment buildings that you counted for the rich, that have no account with our history AT ALL (sorry, partially our fault)

How are we Eastern Europe, LOL? Ok, just reacting to the title, let me see the video :D
@realjx3139 ай бұрын
lol you must be from the US as only people from the US have a problem with pigeons. They are not flying rats, they are just birds and not a problem. But it is possible that in the US they are much more likely to carry diseases as the US doesn't care much about hygiene in poultry farms and those can be the source of such complications. Just don't worry about them and give them some bread crumbs, when you have any.
@Premium_Water9 ай бұрын
If you google it people in the US used to eat pigeons 100 years ago. Thats was the main food they ate pigeons instead of chickens. At least we were never that barbaric LOL. Though some of the people in Asia eat all sorts of stuff dogs etc. For us that's too much.
@realjx3139 ай бұрын
@@Premium_Water Squab is consumed in many cultures even today, including Europe. And overall, maybe the US is the one that doesn't eat much of anything, everyone else eats all kinds of things, from organs to snails and frogs and horse meat in Europe to bugs or even rats elsewhere. Not eating things cos they are considered iffy is something recent that mostly arised because of economic growth as that allows people to become a bit spoiled.

I completely agree with you dude about the smoking - it is horrible and will eventually be stamped out here just like most of the rest of Europe. Glad you enjoyed the pastries and the city in general.

Funny thing is that in Serbian there is a popular saying which goes "pusi kao Turcin" which means "smokes like a Turk". However, the irony of it is that Serbs smoke more than Turks. Look how you triggered the heavy chainsmokers here in the comments lol They cannot accept that smoking in bars and restaurants is disgusting to people from all around the world. It is indeed a culture shock.

I mean if we went to your ancestral land we'd be surprised how different it is from Europe LOL. We'd be like WTH is this lol. Europeans do smoke a lot. So do a lot of Asian countries. Indonesia has the highest percentage of daily tobacco smokers among men at 54.3%. That's higher than any nation in Europe. Overall, Serbia needs to work on some things, no smoking sections, integrating uber/lift etc. We not perfect but no nation is hehehehe. A good nation to emulate when it comes to smoking would be Iceland only 11% of the population smokes or Ghana which has the lowest smoking rate at 3.7%, while Nigeria has a rate of 3.5%. But then if you were to go to Ghana you'd be like oh no they dont have this or that lol.

Of course it's Nis Express that doesn't have AC, I hate their buses and personnel so no surprise from me. Smoking is also terrible, smell doesn't bother me as much unless it's someone near me or it's a small closed area. I'm thankful my parents quit that shite. But we have some good spots, it's not just a 'party' city (never been to a party in BG myself).

I agree. I remember when you could smoke everywhere in Norway. That was 20 years ago. It's banned everywhere now. No one smokes in public places anymore. And when the boomers die, the Rolling tobacco and Chewing tobacco is gonna be banned. Only Snus (Danish, Faroese, Swedish, Norwegian, Sami and Icelandic people) and Cigarettes (Europeans)
