That was so beautifully presented ❤ Just one correction, statue of Victor is naked to symbolize freedom and generally free minded people of Belgrade that they are known for. Controversy was only for statues original location that was in the middle of the street. That was a bit too much even for Belgrade that is the only capital in Europe that has nude beach 😅

The Saint Sava Temple also has a crypt - lower level. It should be visited also.
@goransukovic8703 Жыл бұрын
Pity you haven't visited the Crypt in St Sava, it's a half of an experience. Othervise, stroll down waterfront , Sava square and Zemun old town. That's it. Maybe bicycle renting and ride around New Belgrade , across the Sava, for these who are interested in brutality in architecture.
@veganderlust Жыл бұрын
Thank you for the tips 😊. I didn’t even know there is a crypt at St Sava, otherwise I would definitely have visited it
@carick235 Жыл бұрын
@@veganderlust Yes Crypt in my opinion is more impressive. Also, soon there will be elevators to top of the St Sava temple with full circle view at the top terraces.

@@carick235 oh wow, I‘m sure the view from the top will be amazing 😊

Skadarlija is kinda "touristic bohemian" street, it really doesn't have historical background. For real bohemian area "Kosančićev Venac" is more appropriate (near Kalemegdan) or some old neighborhods of Zemun.
@veganderlust Жыл бұрын
Yes, Skardarlija felt really touristy. I walked through Kosančićev Venac on the way to the bus stop and it looked very nice 🙂
@carick235 Жыл бұрын
@@veganderlust Skadarlija is better to visit at night because it's main focus are those restaurants and atmosphere is much better, especially since most of them have live music.

Unfortunatelly National Museum on Republic Square should be more famous then Nikola Tesla's Museum. But, who cares for Rembrandt, Goya... prehistoran serbian culture etc? Church St. Sava has the biggest mosaic in the world beside the fact that everything is gold (mixed with sand).
@veganderlust Жыл бұрын
Well, many cities have National Museums and I’ve seen paintings from Rembrandt and others before but I’ve never been to a Tesla Museum, especially because he donated most of the exhibits to Belgrade himself if I’m not mistaken. That’s why I chose to visit the Tesla museum but I’m sure the National Museum is great as well :). The information sign right in front of St. Sava said one of the biggest and not the biggest and I thought whoever wrote that sign must know ;)
@vladar2623 Жыл бұрын
@@veganderlust Noup, ONE of the largest temple, orthodox second in the world (church in Moscow has one dimension bigger but in volume St. Sava is bigger). But (ceramic) mosaic largest in the world. Incomparable with those mentioned on internet, in Turkey or Vietnam. In total 15.000 square meter or 161.000 sqare foot. Have a nice day!

Mosaic Gold is only heating in sand. All over world is Mosaic Gold not 99.99% pure Gold. It is mix and right name is aurum mosaicum.
@vladar2623 Жыл бұрын
@@npapic1346 I did not say that mosaic is 'pure cold' but I said as same as you did - 'gold mixed with sand'. What's the difference? It's georgous!
@npapic1346 Жыл бұрын
@@vladar2623 its not mixed with sand, mosaic gold it not possible to mix with sand. The aurum mosaicum as mixture (gold leaf, tin, mercury etc.but not with sand), is heating on sand. Is big different.

6:59 is there a church in the world where you have to pay entrance?
@veganderlust Жыл бұрын
Yes many, the most expensive church I’ve ever visited was Sagrada Familia in Barcelona, you have to pay almost 30€ to enter and in many other churches you have to pay as well
