Camping in Germany this past weekend definitely made me feel like a fish out of water! Not long after arriving at our camping site, culture shock set in.
I was raised camping in backyards, random woods, river banks, or wherever I could find to pitch my tent. Doing that in Germany isn't so easy. Here, camping involves electricity, a toilet, a hot shower, waterslides, and admission.
After battling mosquitos and attempting to go on a hike and connect with nature, I decided to return to the warm waters of our luxury camping resort, and that it wasn't so bad after all.

So you're a happy camper now ehh? ;-) About that... go south and find nature camping's in the mountains for example near by Garmisch Partenkirchen or elsewhere down south. Germany is very regulated, much more than The Netherlands is, although The Netherlands is a very good second in regulation after Germany. And yes I am both Hollander and Nederlander. Did you know that there is a huge difference between these both names..? To give you some insight: The country of The Netherlands is divided into 12 Provinces; Friesland, Groningen, Drenthe, Overijssel, Gelderland, Flevoland, Utrecht, Limburg, Noord Brabant, Zeeland and yes here they are: The 2 Coastal Provinces of Noord (North) Holland and Zuid (South) Holland. So out of 12 Provinces only 2 are called Holland: Noord en Zuid-Holland. The vast majority (10 out of 12 Provinces) of the inhabitants of The Netherlands does not come from Holland at all, because Holland (north and South) basically are nothing more or less then just 2 Provinces of The Netherlands. Just like every Bavarian is German, but not all Germans are Bavarian, right? To be compared with Carolina in the USA. I mean; every Carolinian is American as well, but....not every American is Carolinian, right..? After all both coastal states of the Carolina's are just a part of the USA and therefor it must sound very odd to you when we start calling all Americans from the USA: Carolinian's, because that's exactly what you do when you refer to the Country of The Netherlands by saying Holland... You after all probably would not like it, if all people start calling you Carolinian and your wife Bavarian, which both of you could be, but you probably are not. :-)

Thanks for the info! I learned about the differences between Holland and the Netherlands after I mis-titled the video we did in giethoorn. As for camping, I've always loved it. We wanted to head to the black forest but didn't have the time. We're definitely heading south later! But for now as I type this we are back on the way to Utrecht to see Castle de Haar tomorrow!

@@AdventureTimewithRobert Great! Was I the one that inspired you to go see Castle de Haar..? ;-) Please when you are there...do not forget to go see a period correct Castle as well near by: Muider Slot ! This Castle is 744 years old (Mid-evil period 1280) instead of the 132 years Castle de Haar basically is. And while you are there, you may just as well go see the Castle of Almere in becoming of a Castle, of which the building (started at the year 2000) activities are stopped in 2002 due to budget overflow... and is turning slowly but surely into a ruin... It is actually situated next to the A6 freeway near to Almere Haven... such a shame.... because this Castle in Almere was based upon: Castle Jemeppe in Hargimont in Belgium.... Which to me at last, is a very nice Castle to see....
