@@davidwindell Don't think that's required. Simply ask yourself whether it makes sense for him to turn up on her fleet right after having just been half a world away. @triplewario2 жыл бұрын
@@CultureVultureMedia1 What about S1 episode 1, when the folks of King's Landing travels from the capital to Winterfell in the span of 10 minutes? Yes they say the trip took s month, but in show-time it took about 2 scenes. The showrunners even said behind-the-scenes that events don't happen at the same time, over the same amount of time. And that makes sense especially considering a show like GoT which have so many storylines going on. Skipping over periods of time is normal in shows and films and has been done since S1, so I don't see why it suddenly is a problem here.
@CultureVultureMedia12 жыл бұрын
@@triplewario The time between the events of episode 1 had no consequence though. It's entirely different. In S7, events were very much dependent on the time it takes for someone to travel, so imagine if Danaerys actually had taken the 2 days it should to fly from Dragonstone to beyond the wall. The boys would be dead, whereas if it takes longer for Robert Baratheon to travel to Winterfell in ep1, nothing changes.

The fact that she becomes the leader of Dorne to me is like Cersei becoming Queen after blowing up the Sept of Baelor. Characters in GoT used to create the story; now, since the story "needs" to go this way, all consequences of your actions are lost, or left unanswered.

@@mightydigebuge In the books Ellaria is the polar opposite to her character on the show, she's just Oberyn's quasi widow who wants to mourn in peace and protect her daughters, she tries to get Doran and the older sand snakes who are not her daughters to stop with their revenge plans that already cost Oberyn his life. The older sand snakes and a book only character who's Doran's daughter and Doran himself keep plotting revenge on the Lannisters and it's likely they will do a lot of damage to their own family and Dorne in the process. Unfortunately the population of Dorne over all seems to think revenge is in order even though, as Ellaria points out, he chose to fight in that trial by combat entirely by himself, so there are no terrorists, the Dorne plot is about people destroying themselves in pursuit of revenge, a lot of characters are seeking revenge, it's a major theme of the books.

Well in a snowy country, the roads gets cleared after a snowstorm [Talking about our actual time, because otherwise I couldn't get my car out to go to work]. Does that means that all the terrain gets to level zero of amount of snow ? Absolutely not. On the bottom of castle walls, I'm pretty sure the wind currents would make it snow stays there, and even if the roads melt up or get cleared, they're would be place places where alot of snow is still laying around. Now about how to survive a 10, 20 or 30 meters wall jumping into a 1,2, or 3 meters snow spot is questionable. There is fluffy snow and there is hard packed snow. A lengthy list of additional errors off the top of my head just while watching this video. I don't care if no-one reads it, it's just cathartic to say it!: - Brienne having her cake and eating it too - her going after Stannis rather than saving Sansa should have had consequences for her character, for Sansa, for the plot. But no. - The awesome Aero Hotah going out just like that to Tyene without even a fight. He killed a Kingsguard in the books ffs, his culture makes him basically married to his axe. - The Sand Snakes teleported onto a ship which left without them. Unless we assume the ship turned around which would have made sense to do because Myrcella died right off the coast, but then there is no way Jaime would have allowed the co-conspirators onto the ship heading to King's Landing, and nor would Doran. Plus if Doran knew of Myrcella's murder, the scene where he died would have made no sense because we see him comfortable with Ellaria and then shocked when he reads the news about Myrcella. - The complete reversal of Ellaria's opinions and personality compared to book Ellaria who has an amazing monologue about revenge being pointless and a vicious cycle that needs stopping, but that could be classed as a season 5 mistake. - I can accept Melisandre's lapse in faith, but I can't accept Davos' complete 180 - he trusts Mel when he never has, he calls her magic "miracles" when he hates bloodmagic, he suddenly cares about Jon's corpse for no reason rather than Stannis who he's dedicated his life to for 20 years, and he suggests resurrection is even possible when he'd have no reason for that to even occur to him, and why not Stannis if it does? - The waif baring a personal grudge against Arya goes against all of the Faceless Men's training and ideology. - Merchants are allowed in Vaes Dothrak, it's a trade city, there are loads of people there. Daario and Jorah shouldn't seem suspicious. - Killing a man by smashing his skull in is still spilling blood in the sacred city. The reason why Viserys died how he did was because it was bloodless (and poetic). - Dany not knowing the Dothraki culture well enough to know about the dosh khaleen. She lived as a Dothraki for like a year, she spent time in Vaes Dothrak and is a khaleesi whose destiny is the dosh khaleen - she would have known what was expected of her upon Drogo's death. - Dany being fireproof. I'll accept it... it's wrong, but I'll accept it. - All the Dothraki being fine with Dany killing all their khals and burning down part of their city. Even if most of them respected her power, at least the bloodriders should have tried to avenge their khals. - Coldhands isn't Benjen. - Ser Barristan's dismissal from the Kingsguard was unprecedented and massively insulting. Would the Lannisters really break tradition again and do that to one of their their own? - Dany naming her entire khalasar as her bloodriders. There are traditionally only three per khal. Their role is as a personal bodyguard, and upon the death of their khal they are to exact revenge and then kill themselves to join their khal in the nightlands. Dany is basically making the Dothraki extinct upon her death. - The waif revealing her identity, wanting Arya dead, choosing a dagger as an assassination method and botching the kill are all just stupid. The idea is that a Faceless Man has no personal identity so the fact she has a main face that she would use in public is dumb, especially during a murder attempt. Faceless Men are not meant to be allowed to assassinate people they are familiar with to avoid personal feelings, which are not allowed anyway. And Faceless Men are so good because they are meant to not fail and usually make it look like an accident or a natural death, not a murder. After the stabbing, no-one even attempted to help a bleeding out child in the streets. - An extension to your point about Brienne being compelled to fight for the Tullys - in earlier seasons she specifically differentiated between serving Lady Catelyn and not serving the Starks after killing Stark soldiers. She doesn't believe in being compelled to fight for anybody besides those she's sworn to. - The assumption is that Arya beat the waif (offscreen) in the darkness because Arya learnt how to fight blind. But in the books it's made clear that all Faceless Men trainees go through blind training to improve their use of their other senses. So the waif should have been quite comfortable in the dark as well. - Arya drinking the poison to regain her sight just makes no sense at all. I think it's meant to reflect her faith or honestly about being no-one or something (which she doesn't even have by the way), but it's just a pool of poison, she should have died there. They tried so hard to make everything about the Faceless Men mysterious and weird but really it just didn't make any sense. - Rhaegal and Viserion have just been sitting in Meereen's dragon pit all this time and just happen to bust through a wall right on schedule. - Yara having the complete opposite views to her book counterpart, Asha. In the books Asha based her entire rulership bid at the kingsmoot on changing the old ways of reaving and raping because that hasn't got them anywhere, but that's a deal-breaker for her with Dany in the show. Also don't go to a negotiation and say "our way of life is attacking, stealing from and kidnapping the people of the realm you want to rule", it's not a smart move. - The fact that Euron admitted kinslaying Balon and everyone is just fine with that. Then everyone is just fine with him wanting to kinslay Theon and Yara. Kinslaying is one of the most serious crimes. - Euron drowned but then just comes back to life again without being resuscitated. - The simplification and scaling down of the kingsmoot, one of the most epic scenes in the books. - The smartest person I've ever met had only one real piece of advice for Jon - don't do what Ramsay wants him to do... which is the very first thing he does. - I know the Battle of the Bastards was inspired by real battles but when the Battle of Cannae was described to have so many bodies they "were an obstacle on the battlefield" I really doubt it meant organised piles about three metres tall. Four or five bodies deep would be obstacle enough. - The entire Battle of the Bastards was impressive visually but really predictable from a story/plot perspective. Before going in, I knew the Starks would win, Ramsay would likely die, the Vale army would come to save the day. Every event was as boring as it could be. - Ramsay shooting Wun Wun rather than shooting Jon. - Removing the Tyrells in one swoop was kind of disappointing. Also Cersei kinslaying, killing the Pope and destroying the Vatican has no consequences at all. - Cersei being crowned with no claim to the throne and being a woman has no setup or precedence in this show where it is well established that it it patriarchal and feudal succession is everything. Basically everyone would object her rule because she has no claim to it whatsoever. Even if she was the rightful heir it wouldn't be smooth on account of her being a woman. - Jon Snow being crowned with no claim to the Northern crown, being a bastard and seemingly a Night's Watch deserter has no setup or precedence in this show where it is well established that bastards have no inheritance rights, are looked down upon by society and are even seen as distrustful. Plus nobody would believe his story about dying and coming back to life, relieving him of his Night's Watch vows, so in everyone's minds he would be a deserter, particularly distasteful in the North and punishable by execution. - Plus everything you mentioned in this video which I didn't bother to repeat.
@CultureVultureMedia12 жыл бұрын
Wow, grand stuff mate. - Brienne going after Stannis rather than Sansa would have been a sweet trade-off and cool & complex character dev! - Aero Hotah going out so easily is cheap! - The Sand Snakes teleported onto a ship which left without them. I understood it as them being on a different ship. Myrcella's ship arrives safely in KL eventually, and I suspect they would have killed Jaime too if they were on the same boat. - The complete reversal of Ellaria's opinions is really sad, yeah. - Davos' complete trusting Mel is actually kinda strange when you think about it. Last-ditch attempt at revival, yes, but why Jon before Davos even having a close relationship with him. Perhaps he saw something in him and believed Jon was the answer to the White Walker problem. Although, since they don't have Stannis' body, it makes sense to not try and revive him. - The waif baring a personal grudge against Arya. A thousand times this. - Merchants are allowed in Vaes Dothrak. Amen. - Dany not knowing the Dothraki culture well enough to know about the dosh khaleen. She knew, but chose a different path. She tried bending the rules, and broke those who didn't bend to her will. Fair enough. - Dany being fireproof. Yeah, if they choose to change that, then fine, whatever. - All the Dothraki being fine with Dany killing all their khals and burning down part of their city. Even if most of them respected her power, at least the bloodriders should have tried to avenge their khals. Totally missed that one, daing it! - Coldhands isn't Benjen. Oh snap! I'm more concerned with his useless magic fireballs. - Ser Barristan's dismissal from the Kingsguard was unprecedented and massively insulting. Would the Lannisters really break tradition again and do that to one of their their own? Yeah, not defending it, but might make sense with Tommen's age and being influenced by the HS. - Dany naming her entire khalasar as her bloodriders. This is pretty much cultural appropriation. - Brienne serving Lady Catelyn and not the Starks is a great way to illustrate that point. - Arya beating the Waif in the dark. Yeah, I could go out on a limb for this one and say Arya was fresh off the blind, so she'd be quicker to adapt to the dark in the moment. Plus the sword against the Waif's dagger. - Arya drinking the poison to regain her sight just makes no sense at all. Fair point. - Rhaegal and Viserion have just been sitting in Meereen's dragon pit all this time and just happen to bust through a wall right on schedule. It's mind-blowingly bad. - Don't go to a negotiation with "our way of life is attacking, stealing from and kidnapping". Haha, nicely put! She's so stunning and brave for wanting to rape people though. - The fact that everyone is fine with Euron's kinslaying. Yes, this is taken way too lightly! - Euron drowned but then just comes back to life again without being resuscitated. Right, is this common or not? I don't remember how they do it in the books. - The smartest person I've ever met had only one real piece of advice for Jon - don't do what Ramsay wants him to do... which is the very first thing he does. It's almost like Sansa gets to be right for the convenience of making her look smart. - I know the Battle of the Bastards was inspired by real battles but when the Battle of Cannae was described to have so many bodies they "were an obstacle on the battlefield" I really doubt it meant organised piles about three metres tall. Four or five bodies deep would be obstacle enough. Haha! Yeah, they stacked up mighty fast lol - The entire Battle of the Bastards was impressive visually but really predictable from a story/plot perspective. Yup, the unpredictabillity of the show died with Oberyn. - Ramsay shooting Wun Wun rather than shooting Jon. Yeah. As well as none of the Winterfell garrison shooting Jon, Tormund or Wun-Wun as they approached the gates on their own. - Cersei being crowned with no claim to the throne. I should definitely have expanded on this. - Jon Snow being crowned with no claim to the Northern crown, being a bastard and seemingly a Night's Watch deserter. That's true!

I hated the battle of the bastards episode so much, I used to skip it on rewatches. I don't care if it's got a cool shot or two. It's entirely moronic how Jon grew a plot armour. Also Jon won't be salty that Sansa had the knights of the vale in her backpocket but forgot to mention that. Rickon could've been saved if Ramsay felt like he was at a masive disadvantage. How can this show produce beautiful battle episodes like blackwater and my favourite watchers on the wall but then present us with this pile of garbage?

A theory about why the Waif didn't like Arya is because the Waif was able to see into the future, and saw that Arya killing the Night King would piss a bunch of people off. The Waif was also the wine Merchant from season 1, trying to prevent the cluster fuck that was Season 8, Episode 5. The second biggest issue this Season is how they did The Kingsmoot/Greyjoy Plot. The last time we saw Balon Greyjoy was in Season 3 so it feels like D&D have forgotten about him only to bring him back just to kill him. Then, there’s the removal of the other five or so claimants to The Salt Throne, one of whom is Victarion Greyjoy, The Lord Captain of The Iron Fleet who is sadly cut from the show and they mixed him with Yara Greyjoy. There’s also the removal of Euron’s epic speech where he says “Westeros is dying” and through charisma and promises of conquests, The Ironborn elect him King, seeing as he seeks to marry Daenerys and has The Dragonhorn. Euron is intimidating, he has blue lips and an eye patch. In the show… he’s a… frat boy who makes dumb cock jokes… because reasons…

Having Robb wed a Volantene healer out of love, instead of a Westerling out of a sense of honor in a moment of weakness while mourning his deep losses at a young age, and having little (or no?) mention of guest-right in the show weakened the Red Wedding to me significantly. The whole reason it even happened was because Tywin orchestrated it (during an excellent scene that was cut from the show where he’s talking to Tyrion and says ‘some wars are won with quills and ravens’) as he does NOT suffer treason from his vassals. They even wrote a song about it - it was quite popular as I recall. Having Robb’s betrayal of the Freys be a gesture of love and not the stubborn sense of honor over duty to political alliance that ultimately leads to his downfall, paralleling his father, really makes it just an event that happens to me instead of a cornerstone example of how Westerosi politics operate.

Actually Tyrion being unharmed by the dragon should be a whole "subverting expectations!" in itself. He was rumored to be the result of his mother's indiscretion with Mad King Aerys and that was why Tywin hated him (aside from him also being an Imp, which is an embarrassment for a proud man like Tywin even if Tyrion had been his child and not Aerys). One of the tests that the Targaryens made their bastards take is to have them confront the dragons. If they can control the beasts, they have Valyrian blood. If they can't, they became lunch for the dragons. So, I would say that had Tyrion actually came away unharmed from a close encounter with the dragons without supervision from Danaerys (which even Jon being a secret Targaryen had never done); then Tyrion is a Targaryen and has some right to claim the throne. Though he had to be legitimized first and would change the whole dynamic between him and J&C. I mean, if D & D want to go off-canon this could have been a plot that they could pursue, if they ever cared about the story at all.

I disagree with your point on Yara's (meager) objection on Daenerys' condition of no more raiding and pillaging. We talk about a pirate nation where the ruling house has the motto of "we do not sow" and "paying with iron" aka taking things by force over "paying with gold". Not only the whole pirate thing is Pyke's nearly entire economy, it's also their culture. Can you imagine captains flocking to Yara when she tells them: "Well, from now on, we do sow"? Imagine the USA getting a condition of "no more firearm access for citizens and no more democratic election". And that didn't even touch the economy. Daenerys' condition forces Pyke to change literally everything in their lifestyle and economy and even if Yara is willing, in a sensible Game of Thrones, her captains would immediately join Euron "FingerInTheBum" Greyjoy.

In a *dark, underground tunnel,* the kid stabs him ONCE, perfectly between the vertebrae, with surgical precision, in the exact area (and in the correct way) that would be necessary to cut Lancel’s spinal cord and leave his legs paralyzed- so all he could do was drag himself frustratingly slow towards the candles! Even if you made the argument that “maybe Qyburn trained the little bird,” the chances of it being executed flawlessly are still very slim… And if that actually had been the case, Westeros should’ve sent that kid to the citadel for maester training ASAP!!! 😆

They should make a GoT sequal, taking place a few years after S8, with kid as the main protagonist trying to take down the citadel from within, before going for the Iron Throne himself. I'd watch that, ngl.

During the waif's training have you seen how many times she hit Arya in the head with full force? She should have had some of the following: dislocated jaw, several missing teeth, concussion, and not just magical but incurable physical blindness. She could have passed out, the waif would have left her there, and I can only wonder what would have happened to an unconscious orphan girl lying in the middle of the street

You're completely right, but those are the kind of errors I omit because it's a bit nitpicky. Presumably, someone could have told her about that back at camp - however, that would also ruin the moment of her getting to say it back to his face... In any case, you're right, it's definitely an error.

How did those arrows even affect Wun Wun? If I recall, the last one goes through his eye which I can accept. But those other ones in his shoulders, torso shouldn't have done anything. They probably didn't even get through his fur. But if they did, they should be at best poking his skin. Like when you push your finger lightly against a pin.

Very well done. Not that it makes a difference, but just for fairness' sake: there are some unjustified points in the video. Rickon's funeral IS mentioned explicitly. After the Battle of the Bastards is over and the Stark flag is hung on the wall (somewhere around 53:45 in S6E9), there is a 20-second-long scene. Rickon's body is carried into the castle of Winterfell, where Jon stops the guys carrying him. He commands them to take Rickon's body to the crypt, and says he would bury "his brother" next to Ned Stark. Sansa is there, listening to the exchange (obviously agreeing with it). I don't think there was a need for us to see the actual burial. Another unjustified point is to make fun of Daenerys looking at a breeze of wind blowing dust and figuring out that Drogon is there waiting for her behind the hill. It was well-established in the show long before this scene that Daenerys has a strong magical bond with her dragons (especially with Drogon). There are many subtle and some not so subtle hints to this. Remember the end of s5e9 ("The Dance of Dragons") where Daenerys squeezes Missandei's hand in the fighting pit, surrounded by harpies, and concentrates very hard? Drogon shows up right after that. It is suggested that Daenerys called Drogon via telepathy, and she knew that Drogon was close by. Some even speculate that Daenerys had warging abilities to some extent, and that's how she could control her dragons so well. But overall, great work. I fully agree with your general summary, as well.

You forgot something all people forget when making a Season six error video. Ramsey states his dogs haven't eaten in six days. Which Sansa trows in his face when she get's her revenge. But she rode off long before that was said. So she couldn't have known that at all. Especially since it wouldn't be something of note for the people who were there. It was a really strange comment without Sansa there with no effect whatsoever. So no-one would run to Sansa and tell her that. Or is it common practice in the North to go and tell Sansa everytime someone is a dick to a dog or dogs?

@@stevem2323 What does who he is have to do with him not being able to die? Rahegar wasn't just Rhaegar's son, he WAS Rhaegar, and he's still deader than Elvis. Rhaegar is just a dead guy who used to be in line to the throne. He wouldn't be anymore, even if he weren't dead. The prophecies in the story, are just things that people in that world believe. It doesn't mean they're going to come true. It would be awful writing if they did. Jon should absolutely stay dead, to remind people which series they're reading. He came back in the show, because of all the 12 year old girls with Kit Harrington posters on their wall. The same happens to most shows. A few seasons in, you get an influx of young teen viewers, who decide their favourite character, based on how much they want to have sex with them, and nevermind how boring they are, or that the actor playing them has the personality and screen presence of a plank of wood.

Not trying to be a one-upper but I really think the show’s quality tanked even sooner than season 6. There are some redeeming scenes in season 5, but its overall quality is closer to 6/7 than to 3/4. The season four finale featured Tywin’s death, Tyrion’s flight, and Arya stepping onto a ship headed to Bravos. This was the death of three of the show’s best characters. Tyrion and Arya didn’t die, but they were never the same again after the final episode of season 4. Quite a few other characters lost their magic after that too (see: Varys) just because the general writing quality began slipping then, but losing those three in particular was the kiIIshot for the show’s momentum

Yes omg I HATED this season!! The battle of the bastards made me so angry with all its stupidity, and when everybody was praising it I felt like maybe I was the crazy one.. but no, it just sucked, and everybody else just wasn't ready to see how horrible the show was starting to become yet when they didn't have any more books to adapt. Imo the show is amazing seasons 1-4 and then just gets worse and worse until not even a blind man could ignore it anymore (the last season..)

I think the quality of the cinematography, music, and scale of the massive battle was absolutely fantastic. I’ll watch bits of this show, like battle of the bastards and the long night, just for the artistry of those things. If I turn on my brain and start thinking about how the scenes actually fit into the show, it becomes very stupid and frustrating. I like to think that all the people I know who originally praised it were just blindsided by production quality and now see how disappointing it was.

Two more errors: 1) when Brienne and Sansa were talking, Brienne didn't mention the fact that the man she saw Arya with at the Eyrie was Sandor Clegane. I believe Brienne told Sansa: "I saw her with a man" 2) Ser Alliser didn't burn Jon's body even though he likely knew that Jon could raise up again as a Wight. And if he didn't raise, it would still have been a sensible precaution. Infact, he took no precautions at all. He didn't secure Castle Black to make sure no word could get out and he didn't inspire any loyalty from his fellow mutineers to fight with him when the consequences of killing Jon made themselves known.
