When ur very common exhaust manifold bolt breaks as it seems to do way to often. This is how you go about getting that punk ass sucker out. Sometimes it gets worse but for now here are the basics.

Worst time ever when that extractor breaks. That’s usually when drinking time begins.

Got to love broken exhaust bolts on a Cummins , left handed drill bits work s good sometimes and walks them out

Something you can always expect on a Cummins. The drill bits we used were breaking since they weren’t Diamond or carbide tips. The rescue bits which are crazy $$ would work best but of course no one had any. Deff time to order some.

I like welding a nut & washer to them myself, broken a couple of those extractors lol

I def see what you mean but I hate when it comes to welding on the head. Always worried about screwing up flush surface. Try to avoid it when I can.

Okay now how do you rethread the entry? I had a bolt that broke off and rusted inside of the manifold so now even if I remove the stud I can’t screw another stud inside. Please help. It’s the stud that is furthest away from the turbo so there very limited space

Thanks for watching and reaching out. This can be a very time consuming issue. I have. A re-thread kit that I cut a small portion off of. Doing this I can set in small spaces and use a wratching wrench on. It takes time but usually the only option.

I think I've removed all the bolts without one breaking once 🤣 and I even checked to make sure I wasn't dreaming

Best thing to use is called a rescue bit. There pricey but will definitely pay for itself when this happens.

That’s right there called tap sockets or extractor grip sockets.

I’d start with 2 hrs and if needed adjust to a lil higher if she’s a real fighter.

I got a question for you, 2016 cascadia stereo keeps powering off every 60 minutes. Stock radio Delphi, I replaced it and the new one does the same, any idea

Good question, that is an issue with some of these Delphi and kenworth radios. Those things get hot when they working and to be next to a vent behind the dash makes them hotter. Most common issue with them turning off often is the wiring. I’ve found spread pins there and vibration will cut it out. Or pushed back pins where again vibration looses contact. Since you already tried a new radio it had to be that connector that plugs into the radio or the jumper harness the radio harness plugs into. Start there and let me know.

@@bustedknucklebydieseldr3228 it power's off exactly every 60 minutes, I even used a timer, it has to be some programming or a timer on the truck pc, I checked the connector /harness all looks good, even when parked it power off exactly 60 minutes

@@jadb8452 the truck doesn’t have a radio off timer in its parameters. The radio does have shut down timer built in to it. But I highly doubt that would be it if you put a new one in and it did the same thing. Maybe just maybe your low voltage disconnect is kicking in and shutting it down. Are you able to see your alternator output on ur dash and is there anything else not working like ur outlets or hvac

@@bustedknucklebydieseldr3228 everything working fine, voltage 14.1 on dash all the time, apu set 12.3 if battery drops when home. Thanks for the reply 👍

@@jadb8452 Thats perfect than. And smart set up with your apu. I was doing some research online and everything is leading to over heating radios. You may want to try another brand and see what that does..If the harness is infact good and you have power and ground at the radio when it shuts off than the only issue can be the radio. Try non factory and see what happens.
Manual trans hard to get into gear spongy or soft pedal. Noodle went limp.
