Cummins Dually Gets an Awesome New Flatbed!

I prefer a service bed with some angles (overland style not the rectangular big box) myself. The additional enclosed storage with room to carry 4x8ft material is the best since I don't need to carry items larger than 4x8ft generally. Off-Road Service Bed > Skirted flatbed > Stock Bed > Plain Desk Flatbed.

I do also really like the look of those style of beds. For me I needed a solid flat surface up to the edge of the truck for loading my wheelchair. That’s the main reason but I definitely use the full width of the bed plenty. So it’s nice to have the true flatbed.

I love the flatbed look as well! I was surprised that you didn’t clean & paint the frame. Not so much for the look but to protect from rust.

I plan on putting a CM RD flatbed on my 2000 F250 cclb. For fuel fill I plan on getting a universal fuel neck that is very short to give lots of slope. CM does sell rails. I imagine they are expensive so you could make your own.

At some point I'll probably weld up a set. The trick will be not making them too heavy.

Definitely do dark wood rails, and it definitely looks better than the stock bed. I however prefer a leveled truck, same height front and back with airbags in the rear

You should have changed your fuel pump while you had access, it's so much easier than dropping the tank. Your truck looks awesome!! Flatbed or regular bed doesn't matter to me, I do like the flatbeds like yours that sit lower. They are easier to load and unload. Also, I hope that if you didn't sell your bed you are saving it. Those things get more valuable as time goes on. About the lights being blocked by the lift. I wouldn't worry about moving it or modifying it, you have plenty of other lights and a big heavy bed if somebody doesn't want to stop..lol..

Honestly it should be pretty strait forward. Have some steel plates on hand to mount with and be open minded about figuring out how to space things. If its skirted measure to make sure the wheel well will line up in the right spot.

How did you secure the front of the bed to the frame. I just put a cm rd bed on my 2006 and can’t figure out how I want to secure it

I used the factory mounting ears and have a from beam welded to the bed spanning from ear to ear. It’s just bolted down through the stock holes.

I have thought about paint matching it and I am not sure yet. I would love new wheels at some point. Just cant justify 5 grand for new wheels and tires right now. I do miss the ford it was a beautiful truck.

I do plan on redoing the bed liner coating. Still deciding on the color matching or not. Color matching bed liner can be tricky

I like the look...but hauling lumber/dirt/gravel/mulch just about anything not big enough to strap down I prefer a standard bed.

Fair reasoning there. Lumber isn't a concern of mine and if I ever am hauling any significant amount of dirt, gravel, or mulch I'll be putting it into a dump trailer. Can still get quite a bit of it onto a dually sized flatbed with side rails though.
