I'm a plumber and I have absolutely no use for it but I want a flat bed truck. Just to invite new troubles into my life. 😃

If you get it you'll find a use bud, I'm the same way. Don't need a lot of things but once I get them I could have used it a long time ago

Ha ha, that rattle can finish reminded me of the term "Tar Heel overhaul" an I was born in that state so a friendly jab shouldn't offend too many. I was your size till I got hurt, then my burning diesel days were over and a pair of size forties fit so good that I buy 42's instead cause I'm losing this one. kidneys are all but gone and the liver is distended from the medication they had me on for over ten years that I won't get back. I like these kind of videos and am glad I found you tonight Good times

i sure hate to hear about all your troubles. that sure makes for a difficult way to go. i have worked for myself in some way since my twenties. i found it very hard to work at a job. my wife says i dont play well with others.....she thinks i expect too much out of people when i work with them. i think they are giving too little. so....i work for myself. im not as young or as in as good of condition as i used to be but i figure any day on the right side of the dirt is a good one.

i hope so. i am going to add a couple tool boxes, 100 gal fuel tank and quick connect jumper cables. i might even add a gas powered air compressor.

Nice surgery to remove that 5th wheel. Always cool to hear Mrs. JC on the video and see you operate the mighty GradAll too! Very nice body install, going to be a keeper for a while? Glad the weather is finally coming around for you guys, it's been a long winter....Work safe, keep warm, see ya on the next 1 Doug@ the "ranch"

i keep them all until they are sold doug!! seriously, i hope to put my auxiliary fuel tank, air compressor, tool boxes and fifth wheel mount on it. making it able to go get and fix trucks as needed to get them brought in as well as pull gooseneck, 5th wheel and pull behind trailers. looking to make it the most versatile truck i can.

Excellent stuff as always, coming from your biggest fan (at least in north central WV). I’m trying to get into making videos, You’ve given me inspiration to do an overview of my F-Super Duty spray rig and talk about some of my cost effective methods to keep a 29 year old gas truck hard at work!!

well j.r. i am glad to hear you enjoy the videos! making videos slows down the project considerably but it isnt hard.

i hope i get some us out of it first! you are probably right. someone will likely want it more than i do.
@michaelchristopher94445 жыл бұрын
Crazy how rusty that bed is after only 6 months. You really should start oil spraying your equipment. Ya it's messy but the benefit far out ways the inconvenience. Up here in canada Anyone that plans on keeping the equipment for any length of time knows oil spraying is the only way to prevent rust. Any paint or coating is just prolonging the inevitable
@j.c.smithprojects5 жыл бұрын
I would agree if i were keeping anything for a long period of time.....however everything i own is only here for a limited time. usually someone wants it more than i do shortly after i get it things all fixed up the way i want it.
@michaelchristopher94445 жыл бұрын
Yeah I hear ya man. We don't have that salt spray where im at that you guys have . I'm thinking that spray is why your vehicles form rust so fast

I would not walk under that bed while hanging on a chain. But that's me.
@b.a.lineman75825 жыл бұрын
That setup looks like it rated for overhead lifting... although the severe angle derates the capacity. For all the more that bed weighs.. it would probably be fine... all things considered.. I’m with ya partner
@j.c.smithprojects5 жыл бұрын
as B.A. LINEMAN said......this particular chain set up is meant for overhead lifting and the rating far exceeds the weight of the bed. we take a must larger risk every time we get in our vehicles and drive down the road.

How much clearance is there between the top of the tires and the bottom of the bed? I built my flatbed last fall, and it came out pretty well, but I'm a little worried about it squatting if I set a heavy gooseneck trailer on it, and rubbing. I only have about 2" between the tires and the underside of the bed. I'm looking at air helper bags to keep it from squatting.
@j.c.smithprojects5 жыл бұрын
i usually measure between the bump stop and the frame and add 2" to it for my tire clearance. i like adding air bags. they help with carrying the load but also improve the handling when pulling a good heavy load.
@tedbownas27485 жыл бұрын
Ah- okay, I didn't have that reference; I swapped a dually rear into mine, and the bump stops didn't line up with the pads anymore, so I cut them off. Now that the weather is finally warming up, I will get brackets fabricated and see how the airbags work out. Thanks!

Why not drive the truck that your putting the bed on to go get it
@j.c.smithprojects5 жыл бұрын
Thew truck rides too rough to drive on a trip that long to get it. it hits bumps so hard the rear wheels come off the ground.
