Just what I was looking for, was going over my truck while I had it apart and noticed a rough spot in the bearing and didn't feel like spending $200+ on a new assembly but wasn't sure how involved the replacement process was. Well you sir just saved me $160 and alot of guess work. Thank you.

Top notch video but u lost me when u said u put a body lift on a diesel.... I'm hoping this was required to fit some sort of plow adapters or something to justify it

Hope you used anti-seize on the fan clutch nut that way it does not get " welded " on again! Btw good video

Your truck is older I know. Anybody with a 2014 era. The clutch fan loosens Counter Clockwise

Thanks for the video. My question is, do these fans always spin? Mine runs full time. It doesn't matter if my truck is cold? I feel it shouldn't.i wonder if this is part of the reason I don't have good heat. Thanks in advance.
@Glennfix2 жыл бұрын
Yes and no, The fan will turn all the time but it will turn slower when the truck is cold. It has a clutch and as the truck gets hotter it will lock the fan to the same speed as the engine. It could be a bad fan clutch. The fan should not spin the same speed as the engine when it is cold. The fan clutch go bad both ways. Don't spin fast enough and it over heats or don't spin slow enough and it does not get warm. One more thing you should check is the thermostat for the antifreeze, they can go bad both was also. Open or closed.

@@Glennfix thanks for the info Glenn. Thermostat is good. Prob a blend door issue I am having.

Is the hub the same as the hub for a 91.5 - 93 cummins? Some idiot air chiseled the fan onto mine and damned if I can find a replacement.
@Glennfix Жыл бұрын
I am not 100% sure but I know Dodge made them the same for a lot of years.

89-23 all use the same bearing.
@TimTamsLOL6 ай бұрын
Shouldn't hammer on the face of the pulley / centre to get it back into the bearing unless you support the centre of the bearing from the back! If the bearing is supported by the outer race and you're hammering into the centre you're smashing dents into the races... guarantee if you spin it by hand you'll be able to feel them

Can the pressing be done with a ball joint press?
@Glennfix4 жыл бұрын
I am not sure , I never tried a ball joint press
@cowcatcher91862 жыл бұрын
Yes both parts can be installed with a ball joint press but the hub can’t be pressed out with a ball joint press. The bearing is easily removed with a ball joint press.
@gabecrockett6574Ай бұрын
Don’t forget folks, you must not hammer on the center section of the new bearing! When you press the fan hub back in be CERTAIN that the center of the bearing isn’t seeing any load!! Or you’ll end up stranded in the desert like me!

What is the brand of the bearing.
@Glennfix3 жыл бұрын
It is a NSK bearing. It has been on the truck for 2 years, about 75,000 miles.
@joelunchboxxАй бұрын
Dodge wants $2000 for the bearing hub assy. The only drawback to this is the availability of the bearing. If you own a 6.7 Cummins I would find one and keep it in the truck.

Counter clockwise man, no wonder you couldn't get it. A little penetrating oil, a thin 36mm wrench, and a big hammer, Or air chisel

The main bolt has to be spun counter clockwise to loosen btw
@WillaHerrera4 жыл бұрын
Jeremy King on this truck the nut actually comes off clockwise. I've never had one that didn't come lose. A good thing to remember is the nut comes lose by turning it the SAME rotation that the fan spins. If your fan spins clockwise your nut comes lose clockwise and vise versa. I have used a long steel construction stake and given it a hard whack while holding it against the clutch nut. I also don't tighten my clutches. I give them a spin on hand snug and let the resistance of the fan get them tight.
