⁠⁠@tbraunehyeah but when he drifts in off the left then who do we have making runs beyond him on the LW? Foden is most effective when he gets the ball on the half turn in the pocket and plays through balls to wingers or strikers running ahead. We had no runners beyond for most of the tournament.

Firstly, Southgate should never have been given the job, he's never done anything of note in the game let alone as a manager. Secondly, he should have been sacked after the Euros final at Wembley. Bringing on players just to take pens only for them to miss, totally ridiculous. Also instructing Pickford to continuously hit it long to give possession straight back to the opposing team is completely unforgivable, it's like watching division two football from the 1970s absolutely awful. But in a sense don't blame the manager because it's the FA's fault, they hired him and continue to keep him in situ. Who would seriously turn down managing England when getting paid over £5m per year??? Blame the FA they are prats and just a money making machine.

This problem of how you play Bellingham and Foden is one invented by Southgate. The answer is simple, you dont play both of them, there is no advantage they both want to occupy the same space thus they only subtract. The answer is simple, you leave Foden out, Foden is a fantastic player, Bellingham has the talent to be a generational great.

Southgate has been a great servant, he's taken us to back to back finals, and a semi all in 6 years. He has also led to the development of a cohesive squad and a better environment for the players. He should probably get a knighthood for his services to the national team. It's now time for Eddie Howe, or another more experienced manager with less attachments to certain players which may cloud his judgement, to take the reins of the national squad.

I realized that as technical as he is, he can skip past 5 plp in space but can’t beat a man 1 v 1. He cannot swing a left footed cross over on the move. He offered nothing on the left. For better balance, Southgate should have played Eze or Gordon. At least we’d all be saying, ‘well at least he went for it!’

I’m not saying that this was going to be the definite answer to England’s problems, but if Gareth Southgate had taken Rashford over Gordon, he would’ve played him. How do you play Bellingham and foden in the same team, it’s easy one becomes a sub. That what subs are for. The player on play out of his skin, then his substitute at half time for fresh legs to do the same. The season you have a 26 man squad is to use the players to inter change between games, so player are fresh. You don’t keep the same team for each match so the other players have a holiday? Southgate has to be sacked, along with his back room staff. It’s very clear Southgate got lucky in every game. The subs made should have started the match in the first place. Because Spain couldn’t handle it when England made the subs. So yet again Southgate cost England another win in a final. First final against Italy he got it totally wrong and now again against Spain.

These 2 clowns were part of the problem. Every game they said it was working when it wasn't. They only proper team they faced all tournament was Spain. The decision to bring one left back, playing Trent in midfield, leaving Palmer, Toney, Watkins, Gordon on the bench only to give them seconds in games. Team we should have played: Pickford Walker Stones Guehi Shaw Rice Palmer Bellingham Saka Watkins Gordon Imagine if we pressed teams all game and utilised all 5 substitutions. We'd have smahed our group with 9 points and easily got to the final on our side of the draw. Would have caused Spain a lot more problems as well.

If you play 3 at the back, the left sided centre back goes to engage Lamal and Shaw comes back to help, the same on the right Walker holds up Williams and Saka comes back to help, what's the problem?

Luke shaw had a decent game considering he hasn’t played much ,Southgate’s tactics of flogging a dead horse are predictable,nothing fresh defensive rubbish having trouble getting over the halfway line,goalkeeper kicking long when he has 10 players in his own half unbelievable ,it was imo Spains easiest game ,the space they had right up to England 18 yard box was incredible

@@AmericasChoice They did. The frustrating thing is we all know they can go toe to toe with the likes of Spain if they were coached to do so. They have the ability in my opinion. But yeah, same old story.

I am constantly amazed how much great Brits and Brit media thinks their players/teams are! They are good but they aren't a better team, never have been, or have superior players. Spain is way better team amd players too.

In the words of the late Claude “it’s time to go.” Getting to the final shouldn’t hide how poor we have been. In 90 minutes we have only won 3 of our last 12 games. Only the first half against Holland in the tournament can we say we looked good. Time for an attack minded coach who will take the handbrake off. Southgate leaves us in a better position than when he took over, so thanks for the progress but time for us to make the next step.

Look throughout history, all England managers have been afraid to make changes, it happened in 86 and 90, Bobby Robson had changes enforced on him, and then the team played better, this will never change, and it’s why England will never win anything ever again
