Nice video ... base on my experience with the Cupra 300 when u go to full manual mode, it does matter if u r coming from D or S. Coming for S to M u get the pops/crackles + higher idle REV + more farts, coming from D to M not much. Also the engine mode Sport or Cupra makes downshift rev matching more aggressive, which equals more crackles :)

Yes I definitely agree. The only thing is the soundactuator that pumps fake noise into the cabin in Sport/Cupra overpowers the exhaust a bit sometimes, but you can turn it down/off with VCDS or indeed unplug it. But S on the gearbox makes a huge difference even with the stock exhaust!

RideWithMe turned my Soundaktor down to 0 on my 280 with OBDEleven. Unfortunately it made it too quiet as it's a manual. I'm sure it'll have a better affect on the DSG 300 because of the deeper engine note and the pops and bangs. I'll be doing the same when my 300/290 arrives.

Got to ask, where did you get the gloss black diffuser from mate? Looks like such an improvement over stock. Great to see an actual driving vid of the mid pipe too, most vids are just standing revs. Swayed my decision!!

Diffuser and front splitter are from Rieger Tuning (imported from Germany, I managed to get a supplier to get the parts for the 300 listed on ebay UK so you can get them there). Sideskirts are Maxton Design. Glad you enjoyed it!

The Stock sound would already be fine for me :D i drive an 2018 Seat Leon 5F with the 2.0 Tsi 140 kw engine with opf (7 Gear DSG) and its so quiet i only hear it when i do a kick down thats why i will install the supersprint mid pipe with resonator ( the stock one has TWO mid resonators ) and back box i hope it will get louder and something like this in the video when its stock

Thanks! The only thing I did here was replace the center resonator with the delete pipe. No remap or any other mods.

crystallised88 Thanks! On facebook go on SEAT Leon Cupra MK3 owners, and search ‘progressive parts’. You can get the res delete with standard bore cheaper on ebay also. 12:24 is the only thing I don’t like which is a raspy drone at mid throttle. But if you want your car to sound savage this is definitely the cheap entry into that. They are awesome engines.

Have you declared this on your insurance? If so, how much did it add to you premium? I really want to get a res delete for my 290 but any quotes I get back that declare a "modified exhaust" add almost a grand to the premium. Just curious as we're similar age. Great video!

No sound is piped through the speakers, it's a vibrating motor (search soundaktor) under the scuttle between the wipers. The unit can either be unplugged or tweaked through VCDS, which if you're in a club somebody may have. I'm not so unplugged mine and wrapped some electrical tape around the connectors. Depends what you have done and if you choose to keep the old parts. In this case it was just a res delete and I kept the old resonator so that I had the option to return it to standard

How do you jack the car up with those side skirt extentions? Tempted to get them too but the caps for jacking points will get blocked???

They drill/glue into the sills, and the jacking points are still exposed, you could still jack the car just fine just need to be careful about putting pressure on the plastic. I've had mine up on a ramp with no issues

There was some drone but not too bad - I know the drone is less noticeable on the newer GPF cars with a res delete.

For me, the raspy drone at 12:24 is the thing that bothers me. Aside from that its great. To be honest I think it would be more muted than on the ST, which is notoriously quieter than the hatch.

It tells you what models it fits. You either have pre facelift (up to 2016) or facelift (2017 or newer).

In all honesty I reverted to the standard exhaust pretty quickly. The drone was a bit much on long journeys, but the main issue for me was that it was just a bit too ASBO! I like the sound of the stock exhaust and you still get good DSG farts. I thought with the res delete I just gained unwanted attention, and the only time I really enjoyed it was in tunnels. Some people absolutely love it though. Friend of mine has a Golf R with a straight through, and its absolutely mental loud. I hate it but he loves it. Its a pretty cheap mod so, see how you get on with it, and if you dont like it then just sell it!

ki3 ben the 280 doesn't have a sports exhaust and as standard doesn't sound great. I currently have a manual and it's silent. You'll get the DSG bang on the DSG but it's still pretty quiet. The 290 has a sports exhaust fitted as standard and sounds better. It'll be closer to the 300 in sound.

I averaged about 28mpg over the time I had the car. Probably about £40 a week with the amount of miles I average. Not too bad for a car with this performance really!

If a louder and more aggressive sound is what you're after its the cheapest way to do so without getting a full new exhaust system. The part is around £140 plus whatever a garage charges to fit it. You're looking at less than £200 all in.

Hi Chris - I didnt do a follow up video but ended up taking it off and reverting to the standard exhaust. Everyone I showed loved it, but it was a bit too asbo and a bit too much drone for me! Its well worth trying out for the low price if you enjoy loud exhausts, and really depends on your usage.

Nice video. I agree with you, some sound is cool but mega loud is nasty and annoying lol What do you think about the car? City traffic consumption? Maybe i will get one... I have some doubts about the axle tramp at full throttle launch control or even at secind gear full throttle. I heard some minor complaints about that because of the traction loss because of the power. And manual mode is full manual on the dsg or it still kicksdown and changes gear? Besides that i still think performance and bang for buck is amazing. Thanks a lot.

Fran Prodigy Thanks! I average 27mpg city driving. Not too bad. £20 of VPower goes about 70 miles. There is definitely a loss of traction under low speed full throttle due to the front wheel drive. But the differential that can send power to the wheels individually is amazing. The handling, for a front wheel drive car is unreal. I often attempt to wrestle understeer just to find out that the understeer doesn’t exist and I actually have to correct myself and let the car do the work. And thats on the standard tyres. If you want incredible launches get an S3 or Golf R. But I actually prefer the handling in this to the M140i rear wheel drama or the Golf R’s uncharacteristic cornering. As for the DSG manual mode is not quite fully manual but it lets you have control 90% of the time. It wont let you bang off the limiter. I’m doing a full review soon including a POV drive.

I am still deciding if i will go for a used golf gtd(because of mpg) or a cupra 300 for even more power and fun. i had an ibiza cupra tdi 160 and even stock spec it was very fast for a diesel and good mpg too. I hope the GTD is the same as the ibiza perfomance wise (because it is 184 vs 160 but the ibiza was lighter and very fun to drive and great torque) or a remap should do it :D Your GTD was tuned? I gotta test drive it. Waiting for that Cupra video then. Thanks for the answer.

Fran Prodigy My GTD was tuned to 240bhp and 400lb-ft. I used to average 35mpg round town in it. The torque is immense and I enjoyed the manual as a result. Two somewhat similar cars but because of the engines very different characters. I would recommend both depending on your needs. Might be worth trying a drive in both if possible.

Nope, stock. The 300 had a slightly better exhaust than the 290 I believe anyway - and also the estate version (ST) has an exhaust thats quieter than any version of the hatch.

Have to get a new exhaust as I need the pops and bangs. I had a cla45 and I reckon the cupras are just as loud on the pops. Great car for money the cupra

I only had my ST290 for a week and sold as I'd already bought an M4 but I wish I'd kept the cupra as it was good value and with simple mods the estates pop and bang and are quick cars. I know the cupra is quicker than the golf R maybe not to 60 without 4drive but after that the cupra is the quicker car

Dave Simmons Think it was about £160 all in for this setup. But you could probably get it cheaper if you had a custom res delete made at a regular exhaust centre.

Yep! The exhaust on the newer 290 model with GPF is not as loud so it will vary based on your model. I personally found it too loud for my taste but then I prefer a more subtle exhaust. A lot of people love it!

@@evaristocorripio5434 Reliability is pretty good. The infotainment system can crash sometimes but you can hold the power button down to restart it. The build quality is perfectly acceptable but not quite as good as a VW Golf R or Audi S3. I imagine that in Mexico the car probably is even better, because here in the UK the wet conditions make front wheel drive difficult to get off the line sometimes, whereas the 4 wheel drive Golf R or S3 don't have that issue. Sounds really good, would be interested how it sounds cruising at 70/80mph, whether there is much drone. I do quite a bit of motorway miles, so would be good to hear it before I consider getting mine done!

ImTvirus Motorway drone isnt too bad at all, much better than many modified cars I’ve been in. The thing that I dont like is the mid range drone at about 40% throttle. This is demonstrated at about 12:24.

Like all mods declaring it on your insurance will raise the price but this doesn't really enhance performance. Really depends who you're with. Give them a ring and ask is the easiest way!

I have a 2017 GTI MK7.5 which i have a res delete pipe on. I had an accident in it 4 weeks ago and the insurance company sent it to a local approved garage to repair it. The total repair bill came to about £6300 inc VAT. They paid it with no issues and I have the car back. Do you really think insurance companies jack cars up and check of they have had a few parts replaced??

J B Sounds absolutely epic out on the road and well worth the cheap investment but round town a bit too much for me with the mid range raspiness, so I’m back to standard for now! Down side of living in the city I rarely get to open it up.

I thought the 300 was estate only and 4 wheel drive?

Only from 2019 onwards when the hatch was lowered to 290 again due to the GPF and emissions regulations. The 300 hatch was available from 2017-2018 but of course still Front Wheel Drive. The exhaust is different on the estate regardless.

ichkar They’re extremely capable, in my eyes one of the best hot hatches. Sure it would be beaten by anything 4wd off the line, but in the twisty bits its an incredible machine. Very nice looking too, and you can definitely tell them apart from a standard Leon. They’re dirt cheap to lease so maybe thats your way in!

ichkar £299 a month no deposit from main dealers, the spec now is better than ever. The new 290 is quieter but with an exhaust and the Lux pack, its probably the best new car you can get in this price range. Its pretty poor on fuel though i must admit... 27mpg round town on a good day.

ichkar You wont get a better offer on a cupra than the current deals. M140i’s are very reasonable at the moment too. I’ve been struggling to find a replacement for this though at the end of the year.

Alan Ton The sale price would be pretty high! I think I’d rather get a carbon edition and get it mapped by Adam! Very nice cars. Or maybe bail on that idea and get an S3 saloon. Or save my pennies and get a c43/s4. I’m surprised to hear of another cupra owner local though. Only other one I’ve seen other than a 280 was a 19 plate 290 in black.
