What version of Cura is this? I can't find the cutting tool in 5.X

I've been looking for a way to do this for ages to plug in multiple standard 3d print model into a simple circular support base. Really so much easier than going back to the design board and trying to measure and cutting out weird arcs and complicated angles. Super helpful tutorial !

Thank you for the video. I'm printing temp tower and I don't need to print anything below 200 C because the filament min temp is 205. This help me save so much time printing and finding a good temp.

This method depends a lot on your settings. What this does is not so much cut a piece out of the mesh, but cut the mesh in half and modify the print settings for one half so it does not actually print anything. Owing to this, depending on how you tweaked your print settings, you may have to alter different settings from the one shown in the video to get the desired effect.

Hmm, just tried replicating this in Cura 5.1.1, but the blocker isn't cutting out when sliced. It just shows as a an additional model still selectable after slicing. Wonder if I missed a step, but the instructions aren't complicated and I went back over it a couple times.

Is there anyway to cut a mesh like the cut tool in Prusaslicer? This doesn't allow you to truly cut and modify two separate objects after cutting.

I have used this method many times to set properties for certain areas of my model, but it doesn't seem to be working for my current scenario, which is setting the Hole Horizontal Expansion property for a hole in my model. Other properties seem to be working fine, but the Hole Horizontal Expansion property seems to be ignored. My basic goal is to enlarge the hole so that I can insert an axle. If I set the Hole Horizontal Expansion property in the properties of the main model, it does what I want (except of course for the fact that it affects certain other areas that I want to leave alone), so I'm not sure what the problem is. Any suggestions?

Hy there! thank you for this video! But I have a problem... when i click "per model settings" and "modify settings for overlaps" there i can't change the value of wall thickness to put it 0. This value is sticked at 1.2 mm and that support blocker will be sorrounded by walls. How can i make that "wall thickness" changeable?

Little late but I noticed several people having trouble so this may help others too. You have to make sure you check each object's mesh type and settings. For some reason when I go in to zero out the blocker it also zeroed out everything in the model part I wanted to print even though the settings in my print profile never changed.

Why isn't there just a simple way in Cura to automatically split parts in the x-y direction, when the stl file is too tall (or when you specify it to be split), and automatically place the sliced models if possible?
@Technivorous2 жыл бұрын
mattercontrol and ideamaker can both do this. try one of them out
@radioroestig96382 жыл бұрын
@@Technivorous I got Slic3r to work, cutting the models in there and then output the .STL to Cura, to generate the gcode. But I still find it weird that Cura just doesn't have these features, even though they look so simple to implement, compared to the other complexities that are implemented in Cura?

It does not seem to work in 5.0. *Bummer* One solution: Fusion 360. Solid>Modify>Split Body. Then hide the body you do not want and File>3D Print>Select Body>Cura. You can split a body more than once to get the desired portion. I wanted a corner so it was straightforward. By moving the body in Fusion you can split the body to get the section that you want to print.

Meshmixer does it in a simple step, Move the cutting plane where you want it and a few options, to keep both parts, only keep the one side and close the cut ends, it's a few clicks. To cut objects in other programs OMG... It feels like taking a flight to another country just to go grocery shopping it's so stupid.
