"Classic best friends." Someone's probably already told you, but they were legitimately close friends from long before the show. Born in the same hospital three days apart, first met at summer camp when they were 12 and haaaated each other, found each other again in their early 20s on the New York comedy scene and the pendulum swung entirely the other way... instantly formed a lifelong friendship. I saw Richard Lewis do stand up over two decades ago. I'm not sure he told a single prepared joke. Honestly, I probably wouldn't say there were any improvised jokes either... no jokes at all! Just an hour long ramble that felt entirely on the spot. I, my folks, and the rest of the room were howling with laughter the whole way through. I honestly can't even remember what he was talking about, just that it was the funniest shit I ever heard. My one clear memory is of him fondling his balls on stage and worrying about testicular cancer.

You know a show is genius when the title makes you remember what the entire episode is about immediately. Larry was looking like a bum though. Also this episode aired out of order so the chicken l'orange guy thing makes sense later.

The episode is out of sequence to the season....the chicken a l'orange joke is a call back to an episode that is previous to this, but inexplicably a few episodes later

In _Seinfeld,_ every time George does something nice for someone else, it backfires. Maybe that's an example of something from Larry David's life entering his art.

Yes, the employers _should_ pay wait staff enough, but sadly they don't. If you can't afford to tip in an American sit-down restaurant, you can't afford to eat.

Curb your enthusiasm is a show about the world through the eyes of an a-hole. To them, they feel like they are acting perfectly normal, and everyone else is overreacting. In curb, you're seeing life through the jerk's eyes. That's my theory.

Probably one of the weaker episodes, I'd say. Still hilarious though.

@6:00 Oh you sweet ignorant people. If you ever visit the US, don't buy anything, or go anywhere, or eat out. Tipping culture is a thing; none of us understand it. Used to be 15% minimum, now it's 18%...IDKY cause prices raised too. You're an asshole if you don't: See opening scene Reservoir Dogs. 1$ per beer at a pub, 3$ per night at a hotel, 18% at a restaurant, take a car ride and I have no idea: See World's Fastest Indian (Burt Monroe, NZ hero "10 percent 10 percent, Oh here's 10 cents thank you")...there are self checkout kiosks which ask and I don't know who that goes to. US food service servers are paid minimum 2.13$ per hour by the employer with expectation you tip them. It's a sham.

@@TheXzonnet only if I'm sitting down and eating. Tipping when picking up an order or other little shit. Fuck that

Oh no, I’ll be going out, eating out, buying things, being serviced in many many ways, and never once will I tip.

The reason tipping is a thing is because most culture in the world attempts to help each other and something people have decided they want is to eat out, y'know, change things up sometimes. So, since it's not THAT great an incentive to run bars or restaurants or whatever else because the cost of running them is A LOT, people sometime through history collectively agreed that one of the things that could be done is the staff follow the owners lead and basically work for less than what is in it for them, and the community will chip in and help out by making extra funds available. That's why "tipping" is a thing, places to drink and eat aren't a great incentive for people to run or work at but people want to convince others to create these establishments, so to keep it all ticking over tips will be given by the more helpful people in the communities to make it worthwhile.

The percentage for tipping has gone up over the years because the tipped minimum wage hasn't increased since 1990.

@@TheRealAhoy I respectfully do not agree with you. I, personally, would respect cost be put into the labor, materials, and time to determine my payment. I do understand that as a small business owner you can not change the status-quo and would fail versus competition who utilize unscrupulous means to cut cost; however, it would objectively be better. Reasons: Quantifiable metrics on labor costs, labor knowing their mobility, customers familiar with pricing, development of professionalism. Many cultures have traditions on the exchange of goods and services; I sir, or madam am not convinced tipping culture is the best.
