After I use the flat side, I use a pick to softly lift my hair, don't pull the comb all the way through. The lift results in soft looking twists & a bit of fullness & eliminating scalp showing. I do it almost daily. This is the step she may've overlooked. Damp hair works better. Thanx.

I hope the lady that came up with the sponge concept patented it. I remember when she was on Facebook showing us how it worked well with her natural hair. Try the ridged side again. Remember you cannot switch directions which is easy to forget when you switch hands. When you do you’re actually un-doing the twists. It’s reversing the curl pattern. You’ll get better results.

I always use the textured side because I prefer curls to twists. As she showed in the video the textured side curls but the flat side twists your hair rather than curl it. To get the best results, use a coconut oil based curling cream, I use the Cantu brand (I'm not advertising, it's just the only brand I've tried and it works so I stuck to it)

The result was my hair looked like someone was curling it.
