Curly Cut damage unfiltered

A few more thoughts on Curly Cuts vs straight cuts:
First stylists were scissor happy, now they are not cutting of enough hair. I remember when most stylist would only cut pressed hair, blow out cuts weren't even a thing. The truth of the matter is a cut on blown out hair doesn't look the same as on pressed hair. I've come to the conclusions that there is no one "right way" to maintain natural hair. A personal decision and preference based on how you want to show up in the world.

Stylists should be able to style hair without damaging it. I understand that some stylists prioritize aesthetic over health. Those ain’t the ones for me.

Thanks for explaining. I've only had my hair straightend once in 12 years. These days I I just go for trims on blown out hair. The stylist does ask my preference. I'm old school and just want the basics.

If you wear your hair straight and lose your curl pattern, that is damage. It doesn’t matter what anyone calls it. If your hair is healthy, it should show whether it’s worn straight or curly. I think you’re talking more about aesthetics. Is the cut “cohesive”, or does my straight hair look even? If that’s goal, then continue to do what you do. But if you’re goal is healthy hair, then those issues need to be addressed.

Personally, although I wear my hair curly my cuts are done on blown-out hair. Even when I'm not wearing a WnG I style with my curly hair. My hair is long so I don't have an interest in the angled curly cuts. I think they are cute, but not my preference. I prefer a long bob look.

I just had my curly cut 7/28 and my stylist said my hair is healthy and I can tell it’s healthy. It’s growing like crazy and my curls are poppin. I never wear my hair blown out or straight so I’m happy.

Very good point. I havent done a blow dry for several months when I got my revair. I didnt notice any split ends. I do ger wear and tear /weathering on my ends as it is the oldest part of my hair and weat and tear over time from racking.

I don’t think this explanation of yours is an apple to apple comparison with the main situation on ground; the major complaint from people is that they don’t think curly cuts are not addressing splits enough because it’s harder to see all split ends in the curl state.

Thanks for sharing. ❤️. This video is a few months old. The conversation has been constantly shifting. The not seeing split ends is a theory that started with influencers on you tube. They had one blown out cut that was supposed to address all the damage but every time they go back for a blown out cut there is more damage. At some point people have to start examining what's going on with their hair and make adjustments as necessary.

I think you made excellent points! I ‘ve been getting curly cuts for over a year and I get the weathering too but it’s literally in final weeks leading up to my cut that I notice it. I get my curly cut and good as new! I have fine hair in some places and I know the direct heat and brushing would do way more harm than good. I have no interest wearing my hair straight and I love the shape I’ve been patiently working towards. I agree with you…do whatever works for you! Love your channel!

Do you d/c and use leave in?? I you using the bcg product selection or other? Product choice also influences how your ends will look over time with curly cuts 🤓..

@@tmcurly I use leave ins and d/cs mostly when I switch up and do twist outs, rod sets, or flat twists. I agree product selection plays a role in how the ends look. I don't use AG, the only product I use from innersense is I create volume. I do use ufd with papaya slip or bamboo ginseng glaze as toppers

I think curly cuts work when you want to maintain short natural hair. The cuts and the recommended maintenance routine don’t seem to work for length retention. I’ve yet to see someone with significant hair growth who gets regular curly cuts or who avoids raw oils and butters. I like big hair and I don’t think it’s achievable following the method.
