Hello a follower I don’t comment usually but I thought this was a good one. I’d add my 2 cents. From what I can see many of ladies are upset that they were misled that doing the BGC things partnering with a stylist would lead to healthy easier hair. I think a few of ladies were directly working with stylists and these stylists never said their hair wasn’t doing well! I think this a part of the larger problem that many including myself have had with stylists that even under their care and direction you’re still ending up with damaged hair and your always being blamed. Now I don’t think all stylists are like this but I know I’ve personally experienced that and have been frustrated hence why so many went natural and turned to KZbin. I also watch and follow a lot of stylists and many have a variety of ways of doing hair and ultimately hair can be done in many different ways. The fundamentals of washing, conditioning and then styling your hair how you like and getting it trimmed regularly are key. I recently went to a curl specialist not associated with BGC and she said my hair was very dry and told me to start deep conditioning regularly until she can access my hair again. The thing is I’ve been using all their recommendations. I think ultimately some of their recommended products may not be as conducive to moisture retention and over time can lead to dry hair. I think ultimately you have to find a stylist right for you and your goals. I personally get my hair blown out and cut then she’ll clean up the shape. I love how my ends feel a little better. I wish they would have addressed some of the concerns of consumers directly instead of only stylists but that just my opinion. Hair is nuanced and very personal!

Thank you for sharing,❤️ I appreciate your perspective. Putting your trust in stylists in stylists and having bad results is frustrating. One thing that helps is giving stylist feedback. It is awkward telling people something isn't working but what As are getting at in the video is... if people don't share details about their routine. It's hard to help make changes. Those changes could lead to changes in product recommendations.

Thanks and you are right! Giving feedback is great if the other person is receptive to the feedback. I think sometimes once the trust is lost that it can make it hard to want to speak up. I know my natural inclination is to go find someone else. I now have a stylist I trust who listens to my concerns but that has not always been the case. I’m glad though that this is a teaching moment not all stylist are equal in talent and training. I think this will empower us though to be better at vetting stylists for our needs and if those needs are being met then moving on to someone else! Honestly there are many missing pieces so who knows what really happened. 🤷🏽‍♀️ Glad for the productive conversation that you are bringing!

Noticing some things with my family’s hair after attempting this method. Appreciate the upload and it’s crazy to me the level of common sense that is being ignored. If there are several splits on the shaft that’s product. A “straight” cut will allow for the average stylist to access damage but no a kinky cut can’t damage hair, lol. I’m shocked the cut is what the focus of the conversation and not the product selection , frequency, styling etc. like no one in history has hair damage from a hair cut. I’m really shocked this is the focus of the discussion.

If the haircut does not address damage then the damage will worsen. No one is saying cutting hair in itself is damaging it, I think they figured that would be common sense…not to mention people are talking about the products and method as a whole if you actually go watch the videos you’ll see.

I appreciate you shared here. My concern back when some of this got going. I don’t understand how the blame was on BGC and not the person you went too. They have no control over what an individual does after they take the class. We all know doctors, and other trained people that we don’t think are doing the best job. But, that’s on them not necessarily the training. I really think BGC tried to answer them; they just didn’t like the way they chose to answer.

Thank you for sharing your perspective❤️ I had similar thoughts. After some ladies got the second blow out cut and saw more split ends. I felt like it really didn't have anything to do with curly cuts

I remember watching this live back then and pretty much thought the same thing. What BGC preferred was a different way to communicate about the problem. My bone of contention has always been folks will not follow up with the stylist whose hands were actually in their hair but expect the ones that are total strangers to their hair to answer for it. The situation is many think they are right and just expected contrition. While I do think BGC and CIK could've been less defensive, I do think to paint the picture that they went silent or were just total "mean girl" was unfair.

I appreciate this video and no I hadn't seen it before. Thank you for sharing it with us! It is unfortunate that the discussions weren't had between the stylist and the person receiving the cuts and this ran into the "streets." But at this point if this is still out in the streets it's because people want to see it dragged out. I have even stopped viewing videos that "stoke the flames" because it gets their numbers up! This is interesting because when A & A addressed that a curly cut is not for shape but maintenance I thought the same thing. When they talked about a vertical, horizontal, and diagonal cut, I watched a video of Elaine of YES studios cut a few of the KZbinr's curly cuts and she didn't do a curl by curl. I haven't seen (that I was able to see) that were on KZbin curly cut stylists cut curl by curl. I just used Elaine as an example but I have watched other stylists cut and they aren't cutting curl by curl either. So to hear this being said and what is being shown are two different things. The saddest thing for me is seeing stylists go after other stylists and telling what they aren't doing right or wrong (products, making fun of how they look, etc.). Consideration has to be taken into account how a client and stylist work together to determine how to reach the goals for a client's hair. If this client is not in the stylist's chair (especially on KZbin), why on earth would anyone want to interject themselves into the issue of which they have no firsthand knowledge? A & A made some good points and I am glad you presented this platform to address it. If this doesn't help then I don't think people want to move on. I for one am tired of the drama. When people don't want to resolve an issue, it doesn't matter what you say or do. They want the continued pity party and not a solution!

Thanks for sharing❤️ Appreciate your feedback. Stylists vs stylist thing is tough to watch even as a consumer. Because who do you trust?
@pameladavis895

Although the natural hair journey is the same road, there are different perspectives from stylists and how they approach their client's hair. I find the respect I had for some stylists on their channels (influencers too) have changed because of their intentional stoking and/or bashing. It's not necessary. Whether one has a blown out cut, curly cut, dry WNG or wet, leave in or not, deep conditioner or not, if client and stylist are making it work then so be it. If not, continue to find someone that can give you what you desire and need@@Untwisted_hair

I’m tired of the conversation really. It feels like the people with the problems either didn’t pay for BGC education (e.g. See Some Curls or Wash Your Damn Hair) or they are really bad students. I paid for education, I see a trained/ licensed stylist regularly, and I have had a great experience. Outside of my stylist, I don’t know any of these people personally. I just don’t understand what happened to their hair and how or why are they blaming BGC 🤷🏾‍♀️ Since when does washing your hair with shampoo, conditioning your hair with conditioner, and styling your hair with 1-3 gels damage your hair? Or in this case: since when does getting trims damage your hair? Thank you for reiterating that this topic was addressed by BGC.

Gels can be extremely drying for one, not getting proper trims that address hair damage can leave it more damaged. Calling ppl “bad students” is insane.

@@fin4008 my comment is strictly about people who paid for a see some curls or wash your damn hair subscription. Misapplying the information provided then speaking on it unintelligibly is what’s insane.

Anthony Dickey also addressed curly cuts... I never understood how "everyone" should do the same thing...Can't be "one size fits all" not when we all have different hair🤔...

I noticed that the three main YTers with issues were just using this as a means to generate content I stopped giving them clicks. I remember seeing that live and feeling like BGC handled it appropriately being that they hadn’t assessed their hair personally. What more do you want from someone whose chair you haven’t been in? I really want everyone to have their concerns listened to but it became so much more and I wasn’t a fan of how they were behaving.

Thank you for sharing your perspective ❤️ I feel bad for those initial KZbinrs because other people are using their hair trauma for content. They think people are laughing with them but they are laughing at them . After 9 months of curly cuts folks had 2in of split ends after 9 months of blown out cuts they lost a lot more length than that. I hope they find resolve in 2024.
