Rashad Heyward aloe vera gel doesn't have enough hold. Your hair starts getting frizzy and your waves/curls become flatter like one hour later. It works for some people, though. I used 100% pure aloe vera gel from a local brand.
@elusnuga6 жыл бұрын
Rashad Heyward also it could make your hair frizzier than normal if you live in a very humid place since it is a humectant. Just give it a go and see it for yourself I guess :)

I don't cowash AT ALL anymore.. in my first few years of being natural and transitioning I did but I did't realize how much I was stunting my growth. My hair gets build up VERY easily so I have to use a shampoo or ACV rinse. Another rule that I break is that I use silicones and sulfates sometimes.. I know it's a slap in the face to the natural hair community but it honestly doesn't really cause me any damage
@anastasia76347 жыл бұрын
I don't section my hair when I put my styler in, it's just an unnecessary hassle since my hair is short. I also don't use oils, I haven't seen it do anything for my hair. The only protective style I use are buns and ponytails. I co wash and shampoo, because sometimes I feel like my co wash didn't wash my hair as good as a regular (curly girl approved) shampoo. Love you Bianca ❤️

So I'm just now discovering you a few weeks ago!! Yo this video was EVERYTHING!! I've been natural all but 2 yrs of my 35 years of living and my hair always grew long and full without all this extra. I was happy about the whole natural hair movement but it pissed me off when I couldn't find a good shampoo ANYMORE. I do none of this and I find when I do all this extra stuff my hair gets stressed out. Protective styles I used to do more when I was younger but even with my curly fro and styles my hair still grows. I hate all the oils in my hair. It does nothing. Shampoo and conditioning every week and put some product that hasn't changed and gives me moisture and I've only found 3 so far is all I need. Whew Chile you're my new hair bestie

The “curly hair rules” and “curly girl method/s” are meant to be more about tips and options to aid women in managing their curls. It’s good to experiment with different options and find out how your hair and scalp respond, and adjust your routines to best practice. My experience: hair/scalp care is no different from skin and body care. Usually our hair needs and benefits from different products and treatments over time. There’s usually not one single “miracle” product, ingredients, or practice that “does it all every time” for us. Sometimes I wash. Sometimes I co wash. Sometimes I clarify. Sometimes I need more moisture and styling products. Sometimes I’m product free. Sometimes I comb or brush. Sometimes finger styling is all I need. There’s good advice in curly methodology, but no one better understands your hair needs than yourself. Use what works best and pass on the rest.

I think it’s really all about the hair products especially the no silicone no parabens and no sulfate! But I am just getting started on my natural curly hair. So I will try using all the rules first! Thank you for all the great advice.

I don't even wear makeup 90% of the time, because I don't like products on me that I don't need to use. Natural shampoos and conditioners are a great idea that I'll be starting because I want healthy hair, but I don't want gels and oils and stuff in my hair. And I shower Every 3-4 days. With warm-hot water. I am willing to stop brushing with a brush and start finger-combing or wide-tooth combing my hair in the shower, using satin pillow case to protect my hair while I sleep, etc. but some of the other things... they're just not gonna happen for me.

The correct method to introduce yourself to a new method with SO MANY steps and suggestions, for me it would be to implement some, if not one, each time. If you make all the changes altogether, you don't know what's exactly that's beneficial from the routine you're following! And just for convenience I don't plan on doing some things, if there isn't an extraordinarily big benefit from doing those!

I follow the "rinsing your hair with cool water" because it's summer (and humid), so it feels nice anyway. This might change when fall and winter come. 😘 I totally get why you don't use protective styles a lot. Your curls look amazing when they're free!!! 😂

FYI: using warm/hot water is ideal for our porosity. After shampooing and conditioning, wet and section hair, applying your leave-in moisturizer simultaneously. Hot water opens the shaft and ensures that the moisture is getting into the shaft of each strand!

I use jojoba oil because it's very lightweight. I don't co-wash because it doesn't clean my hair! I HAVE to use shampoo when I wash my hair because that's the only way my hair will be clean, honestly.

rules i break i don't finger detangle. who got time for that. i do not deep condition regularly. on most weeks i do tho. i do not pre poo. usually. although i am starting to put tea tree and sweet almond on my scalp nights before washing so i guess that counts. i do not always put a styler or leave in or oil after washing my hair. just leave it be and i surprisingly like how my hair looks. so full and voluminous and soft. and no protective style. ya that's it that i can think of lol

I'm with you on some of these: I don't co-wash, I don't pre-poo and I don't use coconut oil. I do protective styles only when I feel like it. I like how you encourage others not to get so stressed out, because that's EXACTLY what could happen especially when they're initially trying to embrace their natural texture.

So I just caught that you wash your hair!! I loved hearing that, However I wish I had heard that a year ago! I did the CG no sulfates for a year and half...my hair started falling out pretty much right away. I thought it was my thyroid acting up and making me lose my hair, never would of thought it was because of no sulfates in my shampoo...I truly believe it was because I wasn't cleansing my scalp...I'm so sad I missed this! Anyways lesson learned. CG method is not for every curly girl that's for sure! Thanks for your honestly and I hope my thinning stops that's for sure! Love following your videos!

I uh: 1. no satin scarf/bonnet/pineapple 2. no protein treatments 3. no hot oil treatments I do: 1.Oil prepoos 2. scalp massages w/oil 3. Diy deep conditioner 4. Cowash once a week 5. Use acv as shampoo 6. Rinse w/warm or cool water. 7. Section off hair 8. Use Denman brush/wide-tooth comb for detangling IIII think I'll take a break from the second list and start doing the first list for a month to see if my limp, weak nonexistent 3c curls come back.😢

I don't use coconut oil ever! I don't co-wash, I don't protective style, I don't use oil to seal my hair. I use warm to hot water on my hair!

I wash my hair every other day. I can't go longer than day two. My hair gets nasty. And I use a sulfate shampoo once a month to get the buildup out of my hair. Forgive me, Lorraine Massey, for I have sinned against curl kind.

This is totally me.....I don't do anything as a routine and I literally just wet my hair put some "guck" on it and hope for the best.....I do need to find my thing though!! I would like to stop the shrinkage a frizz....I do use some of the products you suggest....I guess I want to start taking my hair seriously ....you have hair that is closest to my texture ...so I am glad I found you on here....Thank you for the tips!

Your hair looks amazing! You clearly don't need to do any of those things in order to have healthy, great looking hair.

Me too. I only use 3 products, shampoo, conditioner and styler. I hate oils!

I love this! This video made me subscribe. I started looking into the natural curly hair care because my hair is very dry and damaged from bad habits (daily washing, using the cheapest hair spray I could find). I just want to have a routine to get strong, healthy hair. I don't have the time or resources for allllll the rules.

I have started growing my hair for a few months now and I find that protective styling does indeed work. I do comb twists a lot and I leave it in for maybe a couple weeks and when I take them out my hair growth is amazing.

I sleep with my hair down and out. No satin pillow case. Yet it doesn't get messed up.

My three CG goals (aside from healthy, more defined waves): -Cheap, but great products. Preferably no more than 4-5 of them. -Quick routine with consistent results -No wasted effort on things that do nothing for my hair
