Whoever the owner is need to run me my money back or just send me two bottles of the oil. I took it to my hairstylist she even was like No. Then I tried later at home. It still was a No and a WHY. 4c low porosity

Hi Tonya! First I wanted to say thank you for this channel and your videos. You, Green Beauty, and WholeElise are pretty much the only hair care KZbinrs I ACTIVELY follow. As I've been watch a few of you videos about oils and grease, a though popped into my head, "What about using lard or tallow on the hair or in recipes?" I know most people gravitate toward plant-based sources, but I'm a believer in using all of an item. If the animal died to feed my family, we should honor it by using all parts of it that we can. In you "Secret Life of Oils" (?) video you mention saturated fats and monounsaturated fats as being good for our hair... if I'm remembering properly. When I looked up lard it was made up of 85% saturated and monounsaturated fats. I also remember using it as a hair grease as a child as well as to treat wounds and stuff. I was just wondering if there is a place for it in hair care too?

At this point, I’ve just accepted that they’re part of my hair-I’ve had em my whole life, relaxed and natural. Loose and in protective styles. They temporarily go away when I trim, but that’s about it in my experience.
@lailaalanna3152 жыл бұрын
My daughter gets them fairly often. I can't do oil rinses- I need to put moisturizer before I put oil, or her hair will be so dry. I can't protein treat because her hair is protein sensitive. I don't pre-poo because she has fine strands and I try to detangle as little as popsicle. That leaves me with search and destroy 😓.

I was never one to put honey on my hair so, I decided to get over my phobia and I melted some honey and shea butter and added it to the henna I was using to condition my hair. My hair is on the thinner side so after I wash it, I have to keep spritzing it with water because it dries out (horribly) before I can finish doing my protective style. Let me tell you!! My hair was so darn moisturized from the honey/shea butter! It was so shiny and healthy looking, and I was able to do all my twist without any spritzing. I didn't have to use anything but my fingers to detangle because it wasn't very tangled at all. Even if I am not going to do a henna, I have decided to add warm honey & shea butter to any conditioner. I couldn't go past a mirror without looking at my hair. I didn't recognize it.

I use a detangling brush that looks like the brush version of the comb you showed. I also keep going back to my Garnier Fructis Leave-In Conditioning Cream as my all time favorite detangler. Nothing works better for my hair. I can easily use just my fingers with that and it works fine.

I tried oil rinsing for the first time on my last hair wash date. It is a game changer. Usually when I finish detangling on side of my hair, the other section is dry and I will have to wet it again. With oil rinsing I didn't have to re-wet my hair again. My hair was soft and easy to manage. I have high porosity 4c strands that loves to wrap around each other. I mixed babassu oil with castor oil.

You've good points and I get where you're going ... I would just tie the "loose ends": 1) define single strand knots first, 2) then causes of the knots ... which automatically ties in with prevention, 3) then, how to resolve the already existing knots. From the presentation: 1) how does "pre-pooing and detangling" before shampooing prevent the knots (I, would tie this in with the "shampooing technique" thereafter), 2) how do "oil rinses" prevent knots ... doesn't "conditioner" also contain "oil" ... as well as the rest of the "styling products" thereafter, 3) is there no friction at "ends" of "twisted hair" when sleeping ... or on clothes, or when "fluffing" (I, would focus more on position of "ends"), 4) do "protein treatments" resolve "split ends", causes of "split ends", "friction"... and how?

This is great! I feel like fairy knots have singlehandedly been the restriction of my best hair growth. I do search and destroy a lot probably too much because I don't do the other things on the list as much. I think I will add in the oil rinsing. The My Black is Beautiful line of products has been great for detangling during my wash and conditioning process with a wide tooth comb. Thanks so much!

What I do to prevent fairy knots is too always keep my hair stretched. I never let it shrink. And also when I take down my hair from protective style I don’t wet my hair because I feel like if I wet it or I use conditioner I get those knots instead I coat my hair in oil and take it down. Since I’ve been doing it I’ve noticed less knots. (sorry for my English)

Finger detangling before shampooing. No products maybe a light water spray if my hair feel super dry but that’s unlikely (for me) because I wash my hair every week. I pull my hair vertically first the in a downward motion to remove my shedded hair. Shampoo and conditioner is definitely easier and quicker. You can also use the pressure of the water to detangle if you don’t want to prepoo or dry detangle. Meaning spend a little more time when you wet your hair prior applying your shampoo and start finger detangling. That would also give your hair time to get more hydration.

I need to do more oil rinsings. I mostly use herbs on my hair like henna, alma, and other herbs, for my wash day routine. I also use an oat protein deep conditioner. I don't get as many fairy knots as I use to. Would you suggest that I do a more in-depth protein treatment? It is very rare that I wear my hair out because I will get lots of fairy knots if I wear my hair loose.

Hi Emith, I used Henna Sooq’s Cocoveda mask last week and my high porosity hair has stayed moisturized so much longer. It has five Ayurvedic herbs and moisturizing ingredients. It’s a little messy, but I am considering using it every wash day.

Thank you for the wonderful information. I am the lazy natural hair person. Are these applicable for young children?

Hey Tonya. Can you suggest other affordable protein treatments which we can find? Is hair mayonnaise a protein treatment?

New to your channel! Was wondering if you had any videos on natural hair products without parabens/sulfates/artificial ingredients, specifically How to look for them in the ingredient section of a product? I know some companies tend to hide them in those big words.

If you have a wash & go how do twists and braids play a part in that when styling at night? I never understood why people were braiding their hair with certain styles. I don't want to transform my wash & go into a two-strand or braid out. Also, how do you prevent hair stalling? I don't believe people have a cut-off point where their hair stops growing. My hair is long but thins out at the same point, it seems. I'm wondering if I need to change something in how I either handle my hair or product-wise since it's longer. It was longer when I relaxed but this is the longest it's been in my natural state. Maybe how I've been doing things isn't working. I'm going to add the oil rinse first then the tea leave in.

My hair grows long but I end up cutting it off because the ends look thin. I figure it must be something I’m doing. Not sure what’s getting me to retain hair but it’s thin on the ends. I started taking iron so not sure if thin ends was because I was anemic or what. We shall see.

@@nibabi I heard iron could help with shedding.

I think choosing wash and go's for your go-to style means you just have to accept fairy knots and split ends. This could lead to hair thinning at the ends as well.

@@pragooutube I do like to do twist-outs and braid-outs but I'm just saying if I have a wash & go I want it to stay a wash & go. So how would you protect and restyle a wash & go at night?

Well, I used a water based gel on my hair in combination with a curling sponge -- the one made out of rubber/silicone by Kiss brand under Bow Wow 👨🏾🦱 the rapper's name (not the actual sponge material), so I don't think oil rinsing will work on the weeks I do that as it would prevent the gel from acting the way I need it to in order to give me the results I need . I DO pre-poo on most wash days. But is using those curling sponges just a death sentence to your hair regardless of what precautions you take? Cuz it's bout the only style I can do myself that looks good with my 4z (that's right --- I said "Z") hair. But then I think of all the people that have tightly coiled styles still manage to grow long hair. How they retain & grown their length in spite of the detangling process is BEY🙄ND me 🤦🏾♂️!!
