5:20 - Definition of Spread according to ChatGPT 4.0 In trading, the spread refers to the difference between the bid and ask prices of a financial instrument, such as a currency pair, stock, or commodity. The bid price is the highest price at which a buyer is willing to purchase the instrument, while the ask price is the lowest price at which a seller is willing to sell it. This difference represents the cost of trading and is a primary source of income for brokers and market makers. Generally, a smaller spread indicates a more liquid market with tighter pricing, while a larger spread suggests lower liquidity and higher costs for traders to enter and exit positions.

Eur/usd when you buy you think the value of the euro is going to go up in relation to the US dollar right ? Selling means you think the euros value is going down in relation to the usd. Now what I don't get is I bought eur/usd and was figuring the Powell speech would tank the dollar and it ended up being the opposite of what I thought

what I don't understand: when I buy a currency pair (e.g EUR/USD), I have to give USD for the EUROs I buy...but I don't have USD in the first place -> how is this trade made?
@Ryan-kf6lu2 жыл бұрын
Usually you should already have USD in your trading account to open any trade. Because whichever currency you use doesn’t matter, the moment you deposited a certain amount using your currency, your broker will convert it into USD in your trading account. ( conversion is based on the current exchange rates ) Hope this helps :)
