I am sooo glad it's rent-to-own. It's only makes sense. Not everyone can afford $200 up front. From a business standpoint, they will make more money with rent to own. That's the only way I was able to afford serum haha

@@WhoMichaelWho i make coffee at home with beans i choose in a coffee maker or my choice. i don't rent the beans. i consume them forever. if i move i take the coffee maker with me and the beans too. i don't want to subscribe for updated presets/content every month. i make my own sounds. subscriptions are a hard no for me.

as @buriedintime pointed out, we own the coffee. i can make it, throw it away, re sell it (theoretically), drink it, give it away, whatever i want with it. If i need new beans (presets/samples) i can buy them for cheap from a wide variety of vendors, and i can pick and choose the exact beans that i will actually use and that i enjoy. Paying subscription for samples that get added every so often doesnt make sense. I already have over 2tb of samples ive collected over the years. @@WhoMichaelWho

A synth is a creative tool in the hands of an artist not a platform to sell others' creations. So what will happen, every month will receive 100 or so more presets? What’s the point? MinimalAudio has my sub-minimal attention on this.

But then I realized that there are people who make way, WAY better presets than I could :-) I have a small bunch of my favorite sound designers, and I really love their stuff. My excuse is that I always tweak those presets at least a little bit, lol. But I wouldn't pay a subscription to get oodles of unknown, unpredictable presets every month, what's the point?

Yikes, are you trying to bankrupt us haha. I really like Minimal Audio's stuff. Fuse is top notch. This reminds me a bit of Phase Plant but also quite similar to the Waldorf Iridium. It's reqlly nice having the content sharing stuff built in. Can't wait until Bitwig has that. The business model though.. kiloHearts allow you to either rent or buy iirc. That might be better to have the choice as much as I know the recurring revenue stream is every developers dream.

The market is already saturated with flagship synths and you've got Zebra 3 and Serum 2(with involvement of DMG audio!) probably being released some time in the next 6 months or so. That they think they can make this subscription only (and an expensive one at that) strikes me as a pretty odd business decision.

@@audiuntI have zero facts, but as I watch music channels obsessively, I have recently been seeing a surge of "ditch Vital, Serum FTW" videos from a bunch of creators. Not as blatant as this, of course, but yeah - there seems to be more people plugging Serum than before. Some youtubers were using Vital for their tutorials for years, e.g. to teach sound design, and now suddenly there's no more Vital on their channels, while Serum is making an appearance in almost every video. Maybe there's nothing to it. But if I were to draw any unwarranted conclusions from my observation, I'd say that maybe Serum 2 is in the works. Or that Serum's creator's been sending lots of e-mail to youtubers :-)

This literally the same as VPS Avenger but seems a lot more limited. Can you add more oscillators/samplers? In VPS Avenger you can have up to 16 and build entire tracks inside 1 plugin.

Und als weiteres Wunschkonzert für einen neuen Synthi wäre noch CLAP mit am Start. Gerade bei den Modulationsmöglichkeiten und MPE. Ansonsten ein heisser Kandidat. VPS Avenger is a much better deal IMO and doesn't require a greedy subscription. It's also meant to be getting a very cool update soon, adding a ton amazing stuff including some very interesting generative features. Current looks like a great synth, and I've really liked the MA stuff so far, but supporting a crazy subscription model like this is asking for trouble. The greed is really showing their true colours.
