the problem with that piston is there may be a flaw in the barrel where the piston isnt touching the sides to stop ink from getting behind that piston you really have to gooop inbetween the top of the rubber pistonhead and the bottom of the piston head that groove should be full of silicone grease so it touches all sides then it wont let any ink get under it unless there is a malformation in the barrel piston itself :) HOpe that helps

That's a good suggestion. Now I'm feeling motivated to work on it today. 😀

I love your tiny ceramic stone! Where did you get that?? 😊
@gadgetstop3215 ай бұрын
I got the whetstone and the ceramic stone from my dad who used it to sharpen his knives. I haven't looked for one, but I'd say you could find one anywhere that sells knives. 😀

@@gadgetstop321 cool! I'll check it out. I have a whet stone set but they are enormous!

Without an agitator, it is quite easy to make sure the ink in the convertor touch the feed by setting the pen at the vertical, nib up, gently tap the converter to get all the remaining ink down, then slowly turn the convertor screw to get the ink all up, until no empty space is visible. If one wants to make the ink dark, you can keep turning the converter screw until you see a tiny drop of ink at the very bottom of the feed, which you reabsorb in the converter by 'unturning' its screw.

That's a good suggestion. I'll keep that in mind next time. 😀

Re: the Lamy converter: Maybe turn the piston up so the ink stays in contact with the feed? That would make it more difficult to see how much Ink is left, but you could always twist the converter back down to see the ink level.

My first grind was a Hongidan EF. Tried to smooth but got it to a point it would not write. Stored it for several months the decided what did I have got to loose. Got real aggressive and ended up wit a stub line nib that writes much like your TWSBI. I enjoy writing with the nib now. How not tried reverse writing with my pens, will now check it out.

Congratulations! It's nice when you're able to get a pen to write more enjoyably. You said that was your first nib grind. Have you worked on any other nibs since then?
@tbayless83245 ай бұрын
Kathy, so on the Lamy's to get them to write wetter you just take that section out? I just had a heck of a time with a Safari being sooo stingy with ink. I am talking about Diamine Blue Velvet. Dang I thought it was the feed and the Fine nib (which I hate Fine nibs).
@gadgetstop3215 ай бұрын
Yes, I just slid the middle section out of the feed and replaced the nib. This was my first time trying this so I don't know how runnier inks might perform. I mentioned in this video that I was going to test all the nibs with Waterman Mysterious Blue, but I changed my mind. I'm going to test them with Iroshizuku Yama-budo. I have a lot of experience with Yama-budo in my CP1 (EF) and it was wonderful! I don't have that pen and nib anymore but I still want to see how these nibs write in comparison. I'll also try it with and without the middle part of the feed. That's my next project.

@gadgetstop3215 ай бұрын
@@VladimirRobespierre That I don't know. Pilot F is my favorite, so I don't have a lot of experience with pens finer than that.
