Kamikochi is without a doubt my favourite place in all of Japan and it's not even close! How can such outrageous beauty exist in just one place? This time Chris and I decided to take on the relatively easy hike to Yakedake. It's the only active volcano in the Kamikochi region and even though it can be done in a day hike, the views did not disappoint! We stayed at the hut overnight so we could see sunrise at the top, which ended up being well worth it!
It was 2-3ish hours from the center of Kamikochi to the hut and another hour and 20 minutes to the top from there, but it's easier from the otherside haha.
The overnight bus we caught was this one: www.alpico.co....
It wasn't the most comfortable bus though, so keep that in mind if you've got a big hike ahead of you.
Thank you Chris for everything you do to help me film, hike and just have fun on all these trips! Go follow him on instagram to see his photography and FPV skills: / chris1ton

We would love to know how you plan your trips. We've lived here for 2 years and always find it challenging to find good places to hike and stay. We have big dogs and we want to be able to take them on hikes and camping trips like we did when we lived in Zimbabwe. So always love the info. We're hoping to go to Nagano in October, starting to plan out that trip with our pups so yeah... We love all the great content you put out Hannah!

Those drone shots around the summit of Yakedake were breath-taking, but Chris' FPV drone fly-by was the cherry on top! Even though the hike took longer from the Kamikochi side, I really feel like the scenery along the way made up for it :) Keep up the good work!

Trip-planning video? Yes please! Gorgeous video, as always. Thanks for this. I wish I had a big-ass TV to watch this with (instead of a laptop), and IDK, maybe a surround-sound audio system for all the nature sounds that much of the world hasn't heard in abundance because we're in quarantine or lockdown or whatever. Huh - a hiking video with segments that has 360-degree audio whenever feasible? Now *that* would be a dang trip. XD

One thing I haven't been able to find information on (photos, videos) is: does the final section to the top require any use of hands/scrambling? I've done hikes with steep drops before, but once I need to use my hands on rocks, my fear of heights gets the better of me... xNina
