If you look at foreigners..... they stick together and help each other...... you English people lost your human spirit....... you have this thing where by the time you're 18 move out and become disconnected with your family and move away from them, hardly stay in contact and probably send them to old folks home to die. Most foreigners stay together and financially support each other, that's why they can mortgage and buy houses easier and set up businesses. If you did the same thing how strong would your community be...... but within your own homes your not united.

In Rusholme in the late 60s I gave a couple of bob (comfortably the price of a pint) to a pan handler who had given me a fairly convincing sob story. I realised I’d been had when I looked back and saw he and his girlfriend move in on another victim. No more than five minutes later a bespectacled individual approached me with his hand out. I’m ashamed to say I took out my annoyance on him before he had chance to speak. He then started to speak with a bad stutter and to my shame I just walked on. I’d given money to a con artist that could and should have gone to a deserving case and all these years later it still bothers me.

@99ron302 жыл бұрын
I agree, probably more like 30 years ago it was good. When it was mostly restaurants that were for families and welcoming to all. Now it's mostly a playground for unpleasant youths in performance cars, hanging around up to no good, and homeless waifs and strays and drug users. Even MyLahores which is quite modern and welcoming at the Bradford and Leeds branches has a judgemental atmosphere about it. Still the odd good small place like Saajan, Lal Qila Express, Al Madina if you want fairly authentic Pakistani dishes like Karahi or Haleem. But Mazaa in Longsight is better, cleaner and a nicer atmosphere. Kabana and Lahori Kebabish on Cheetham Hill road good also, Abdul's in Fallowfield, and This and That still has that unique canteen style food. Actual proper Restaurants I wouldn't expect any of them to be particularly good these days, like China town, the owners realised they can serve anything. Royal Naz in early 90s was lovely, but the owner was sadly a dodgey guy and I think he still runs one of the places on the mile.
