Thank you Nicky, I have lived and worked in Curry Village in summer of 2017, as a busser, a server, a pizzaiolo, in the ice cream and coffee corner, pretty much on every spot. Every now and then I reminisce about that amazing summer, with tens and hundreds of friends I made from all over the world, the hot nights and cold beers accompanied by beautiful music almost everyone there made. When I get tired at the office I beat myself up many times for not recording the walk I took to work everyday, the places I spent my nights and places I hung out with friends in Yose. Now that I am living and working about 10,000 km away makes it even more nostalgic for me, especially being that it was my only time in the U.S. Every now and then I searched any footage to take me back but I never found much, but your video Nicky has done just that, I lived it again. I am grateful to you.

There used to be more cabins but there was a landslide that wiped the majority of them out.

Wow, what memories. In 1967 while at college in Michigan I took a train to Yosemite and worked in the cafeteria! And stayed in a non heated tent with wooden floor. Much updated in facilities since then of course but the scenery hasn’t changed!

Worked in the store 1990......low pay then and you paid for everything. Biscuits and gravy best breakfast...A bear came in the deli one day... A mountain lion was on the Merced River bridge one night...on your day off they will pack you a lunch and you grab a free bike.....the white tents are sweet....if you pass a bathroom use it!!!!!!! They hire from 16 years to when you drop!!! village store is way bigger now......good library!!! Eat one night at the Ahwanee Bye!
@nickyfurmage2 жыл бұрын
I love these old stories👍
@HayleySpp Жыл бұрын
Very interesting! Thanks for sharing! I don't recall the exact location but I think it was fairly close to the Ahwahnee. I stopped in a sandwich/coffee shop and spoke with the cashier and my brother asked if the pay was well and the cashier stated that it was way more than they deserve and that he lived in a apartment, with no rent, that was a walking distance of 5 minutes. I love it there and definitely want to go back soon!
