Fun fact: there was an interview recently with Igon's VA, Richard Lintern, and he's a dude who never did voice for videogames. Only knew of their existence because her children would play it. He said two really fun things about his recording session: -Despite not knowing who he was, Richard said Miyazaki had an aura of importance when he entered the room. -They never asked him to tone down his performance, only asked him if he could "explode more". I love how Miyazaki absolutely wanted the character to be as hammy as possible and truly shines in-game. Igon is amazing!

I love Bayle so much, not only is he a vastly different dragon design then any in the game, but the lore between him and the dragon lord is told so well visually through their designs. It took me until some random video to see Bayle actually has 2 of the heads of Placidusax still gripping his neck and back, he is so effed up and yet he is still this terrifying. Not to mention Igon and Florissax are just pretty cool NPCs

in case anyone's wondering, Igon's dragon roar deals good stance damage and debuffs the boss' resistances. he's the only reason max can do a third of the healthbar or stagger the boss at all. he is, in fact, pretty good.

Also, summoning igon doesn’t increase the boss’s health bar. Whereas summoning any other npc in the game increases the boss’s health by quite a lot. So there’s entirely no downside to summoning igon, only benefits.

I've seen multiple things in Max's playthrough that make me think he's playing the pre-launch patch version of the DLC because he got the bloodfiend arm in the fissure, the dragon priestess wasn't present at his dragon altar, and on his map the jagged peak summit has no fog over it and you can even see Bayle's arena clearly. Also Igon doesn't seem to be doing his full monologue during the fight.

Oddly enough Rakshasas armor doesn’t make you take more damage like it says. It just has lower damage negations compared to other armors of its weight, so talismans can be used to fix this easily, or you can just further buff stuff with attack talismans to make a high damage glass cannon build. Also the armor combo he has on at 1:00:27 is one I swear everybody puts on at least once , banished knight helm with Ronin armor is flawless fashion.

This was my favorite fight in the DLC. They build up to the fight. Meeting igon before hand. Him constantly building up Bayle. The trek up the mountain, fighting dragon after dragon. Igons voice lines during the fight. Felt like such an epic fight. Its what the DLC needed more of. Not just fights where you get to the end of an area and think oh cool idk who this boss is though. Honestly this fight feels better with a whole team. Just like the og radahn night where the team of warriors try to take down radahn. Those are always my favorite fights in these games.

Not summoning npcs makes you miss out on content, lore, items. It increases the bosses health a lot NPCs never really do much damage. They might pull the bosses attention a few times but they end up dying fast if the boss focuses them, forcing u to play more aggressively to keep them alive. Unless your RPIng as a lone warrior who hates all others, I don’t understand why you wouldn’t use npc storyline summons.

Summons that you spawn in the arena like igon do not increase the bosses health at all. You downplay it In your comment, but npcs drawing aggro away from you is the sole most important part of it. Even if they deal no damage to the boss itself, simply distracting the boss gives you more opportunities to heal where you would have died, get off long attack chains that you normally wouldn't have, and allows you time to disengage from the boss. Npcs attacking a boss also allows for more staggers as the npcs attack will keep the stance meter from regenerating. All of this combines to make summoning an npc a way easier experience, even if they do little damage to the boss. Now it's fine if that's how you want to play the game, nothing wrong with that, it's just for me and a lot of others, summoning makes the fight way less fun.

I was surprised to see Max struggle with Bayle. I beat third try, and I only died twice because I was looking for Igons summon sign. Little did I know it was the finger item that brings Igon in to slay his Moby Dick. Great dragon battle! Bayle definitely ranks up with Fromsoft's best dragon fights.

You can actually do decent damage to all of his body parts. My strategy is just attacking him when ever I get the chance even if it's his toes until he falls then go all out on the head. That usually delete 35%/50% of his HP. Btw he is my favorite dragon boss they ever did :)

there was no need for that fkn dragon before bayle to do that much dmge and had that much hp… had more trouble swith him than Bayle… annoying AF
