My parents gave us the first SpongeBob controller, and that was quite interesting. Certain glitches would come up, such as whenever I did the platforming levels (probably the hardest one) SpongeBob would die from the air. It happened rarely, but those levels were frustrating. The “death” sound was something too engraved in my brain at the time.

Also, one thing I don’t think wasn’t mentioned were these gameboy advanced cartridges I had as a kid that just had two (I think),episodes of spongebob that you would watch on your GBA like a portable video player.( I dont remember which episodes they though) I think it’s because at the time, the Gba was a better option for a portable video player because it was small enough to be taken anywhere. And the other options like actual video player and even laptops were too big and cumbersome to haul around. Of course now all those things are just assimilated into the phone in your hand, but I do still have a soft,spongy spot in my heart for the weird, kind of precursor tech of the 2000s.

I used to have this whole pack of spongbob merch I got for my 9th birthday in the early 2000s and it came with spongebob cereal, krabby patty gummies, pencils, and these clear blue cups with a picture of spongebob naked on them. I can't find the cups anywhere online or any evidence of them existing. I still have one of them but the image is mostly worn off.
