The second part of yr comment is correct but the first part may b up for debate Guyana is part of the West Indies nearly all the islands & Guyana were under British rule. Guyana was one of the first counrty to sign on to caricom. The only thing why people say Guyana is not part of the caribbean is bec its not a island but its very much part of the west indian culture like all the islands we are English speaking but we have our own language creole like the jamaican patwa sorry if i get the spelling wrong
