ARK: Survival Ascended | Warship Boat Base | Build Tutorial

It looks good, but with the sides of the motor boat exposed this can be destroyed easily while bypassing all the armoring of the metal foundations by just aiming shots at the waterline or attacking from below. You would want to make the base three foundations across to completely enclose the boat as well as lower the foundations deep enough to clip through the bottom of the hull so the foundations take the damage rather than the boat. Lowering the foundations that far would also allow you to access the boat to drive it from inside the enclosed cabin, although this will also mean you'll need to add a ramp on your door as you can't access the boat from the outside to get yourself out of the water. To get the best coverage for a three-wide foundation platform, you'll want to be driving the boat and place a pillar down as far forward as you can in that box in the center of the bow (where the sail would be on a raft) then place a foundation snapped to that pillar as low as you can (with the new Ascended mechanics for foundation heights you shouldn't need to use the pillar-foundation-pillar-foundation trick to glitch down the height of the foundations to where you want anymore) a 3x3 grid should cover the entire boat and you can build up from there. And another thing, those ends of yours are definitely going for form over function, I was shuddering thinking of how many building pieces you were wasting with all those triangle ceilings. I'd also have centered the minigun turret, but that's just my sense of aesthetics rather than practicality on that score. So yeah, looks pretty but all it would take is a couple lucky rocket strikes or a couple c4s planted on the underside to blow this thing right out from under you. Should do fine for PvE, but PvP not so much.

Not everyone is a sweaty pvp player that takes it all super seriously. (I’m not saying that’s bad, I mainly play pvp myself) tons of people RP ark and this boat would fit in there much more than an ugly box that is built for pure function. Plus as a pvp player you should know that a boat ain’t standing up to anyone who wants to get into it, just ride another raft up to it and open the door and place c4. . He’s crying about a couple of lucky rockets taking it out, which is dumb. It’s got 35k hp, plus when the rocket jump glitch is fixed the turrets would take the rockets out and if someone’s getting close enough to c4 it then they’re not wasting time taking out the boat, you’re popping a wall and walking in. Dedi bobs are hilarious.

This is awesome! One potential improvement: I think you can "hold Q" to stop the turrets from snapping to the middle of the foundations, which will allow you to put the minigun and the auto turrets in a better-centered location (especially the one on the back, you can place it near that gap to close it off). It's unfortunate about the z-fighting in a few areas, but I don't think that can be avoided.

This is really cool. I think I'll copy it. But at the back instead of having it pointed, I'll have it sloped out but flat. That'll save about 8 pieces and keep the back a bit more different to the front.

I have a raft design that is great for resource gathering and pvp or defense. Is a 3x7 layout. Using hatch frames on the roof to attach auto turrets to so that cover all blind spots well. I've used my design to take down the typical shadowmamain raiders. With effective results. If you glitch build foundations into the raft C4 can not be attached directly to the raft.

Reminds me of my old boat the HMS Dragonslayer. It was an enclosed metal warship i built on Ragnarok to sail into the wyvern cave. With 4 auto turrets on top and a keypad inside to turn them on and off. I would then cryopod my own wyvern in there and go egg hunting and pull any wyverns that chased me back to my boats guns

Nice use of the new beams in ASA.. But he’s a PVE player for sure.. If you’re allowed to even add turrets on official, I would extend the beams at the bottom and place the turrets there. And instead of the mini gun add the rocket turret.

I like the design but if it's for PVP you need to protect the boat itself. If I was attacking it, I would fire rockets for the pontoon sides and just destroy the whole raft rather than try to raid it. Against dinos it would be fine but not other players so much. If you intend to use it for PVP you should test it to see if they still block C4 from being attached to the boat directly as this may have changed and the entire bottom is susceptible to have C4 placed if they didn't carry this through from ASE. Also, another way to destroy it completely is to make a raft with a protected corridor of wood with a seat. You have 1 guy sit in the seat loaded with C4 and drive him right through the wall of the enemy raft. He can hop off inside, place C4 on any stations inside and hop back in the seat and mesh back out. 1 Click and the boat is dead. With no LOS to the guy in the seat, the turrets won't even fire.

@@ArkLord001 Tactics like this are exactly why I don't build my boats on anarchy or official pvp servers. A good Ark boat battle needs to be slightly organized by both sides with some agreed-upon rules and an admin referee.

In my opinion, it isn't worth it just yet, you can google the ini changes if you want to, but it will make the game highly unstable atm due to how many issues the game currently has with crashing, so use at your own risk.... But, it does allow for massive ships, as you saw in this video :D

I was always disappointed with the lack of upsidedown triangle walls in ASE. I think the only thing that gets me is my ocd wouldn't allow me to have turrets off centre. Other than that I love the design. Small, compact and functional. One question though. How does it cope with that blasted raft killer?

Wait so you don’t want to change the ini for platform build multiplier but you had to change the platform turret restriction to place auto turrets on boats… Also light sources don’t work on moving objects asides personal torches.

Great build and great walkthrough video! :D I assume the limitation on how much you can build on top of the base raft is to avoid lag on larger servers? Or other performance related issues? If I am only playing with around 4-5ish friends on a server, would it likely be safe to disable that limit?

It possible is due to lag, but yes you will be safe disabling it, currently Ark is a bit unstable so you may get performance drops but I think you'll be fine as long as you don't go too crazy :)

Not due to lag. All platforms have a limitation to the total number of structures that can be placed on them. This setting applies to both rafts and platform saddles. 32 for a paracer, 40 for a quetz, 63 for a Bronto for example. On a raft it's 88 structures. A Motorboat is 135. Otherwise you would have players building massive mobile bases on the back of a Quetz (I'm known for having a full functional base on a quetz or a raft). on PC you can adjust the structure limit to suit your style of play but the total number of structures does not contribute to lag any more than a land base does.

So if my friends and I disabled the structure limits for a huge mobile base on the water, we could go ahead and build pretty much a complete functional base that we could drive all around the island without worry? (We probably still should not go out onto the deep waters I presume...)

@@Rymosuke You can increase the structure limits as well as foundation support range but even that has upper limits as well. PerPlatformMaxStructuresMultiplier=# MaxPlatformSaddleStructureLimit=# The default settings of them are: PerPlatformMaxStructuresMultiplier=1 MaxPlatformSaddleStructureLimit=100 the first one is a multiplier (88 structures x2 to get 178 structures for example). the second one is for how many platform saddles are allowed on the server. If you are going to increase the max structures of the platforms I would recommend reducing the 2nd one to a lower number (50 for example) to limit the number of massive platform saddles / rafts out there. There is also another one to increase the distance you can build away from the platform before you get that message about being too far from the platform but I don't remember what it is atm.

Tinkering like this in ASE was what inspired the development of Atlas originally. And until they slowly ruined it, it was a far better game than Ark. Lots of fun. Someday hopefully there will be a successor to the pirate survival concept.

So, unfortunately, on PS5, you CANNOT build this boat like he does. The game will not allow you to overlap pieces. I almost want to show people what I did because I think it looks good. I also understand why he made it the size he did. I tried to make it 3 wide so it covers the raft. It just won't work.
