4Batz story whether you believe he’s an industry plant or not (I think he is) serves to prove how selective the industry is. It also shows the minimal amount of effort needed to blow up and this pattern will continue to inspire younger artists to replicate these behaviors instead of trying to make their career authentic.

It would not surprise me one bit if his voice is 100% done up in post to sound like that. Its a shocking gimmick for sure, but it has no lasting impact outside of that. The lyrics are pretty weak overall and aside from being a "vibe" it has nothing to come back to. If he lasts 5 years I would be very surprised.

@@corey3107 that's because Logic was the 1st exposed new era plant. I was really into his early work and his rise was inspiring to me. I go do more research to soak up some game then low and behold he's in an Hot 97 interview just casually dropping that he was signed to Def Jam the entire time and explaining how the label wanted to try this "new Indy style marketing" with him. To my surprise I couldn't find anybody talking about it. More and more I'm realizing it's very important to understand the 'words' people are using in the conversations they present. Same as in law. Definitions of "terms" are everything. In the case of 4Batz, their definition/understanding/use of "independent" is not quite the same as the layman. There's an artist grant being offered by The 100 Percenters. They use the term "commercial credit' in their list of qualifiers. How the 100%'ers define that word is very particular, compared to how others in the industry do. It's important to keep an eye out for words and definitions, how others we're choosing to interact with are intending them and using them... and not to take anything for granted, at our internal assumed definitions or understanding.

This I feel actually deserves a secondary and larger conversation around why this is wrong. It’s blatant , too blatant of a setup - and the unfortunate thing about this is there are now a TON of younger artists who are being driven in the wrong direction. I.e. -> So now all I need is a job at Burger King, and I can just work hard at my music and tomorrow I could get an endorsement from Drake and Ye… if I’m good enough or get could enough that same thing will happen to me; so they actually sell themselves short thinking that’s all they need to do. It’s all very strategically orchestrated. But just like crazy bones talked about the rap game shifting long ago to drive young men into privately funded and owned prisons by endorsing gun violence, etc. now they are misleading young artists the same way by leveraging this “organic” come-up story. Because the actual come-up story, when it is real is magnetic. Had to state my peace, as a fellow independent artist who’s done an EP with Riff Raff, a Single with Styles P, features with Mick Jenkins & Caskey - so I’ve been able to peek into the industry and done it all myself and I’m still here by myself, because to build a team like that takes muscle beyond what you can fathom. So many things need to align for stuff like that to come together. I love music, I have given my life and sacrificed many things for my music, like relationships, resources, money, time, life, etc bc I respect the music, I respect the grind, I love music (unfortunately - bc it doesn’t pay) with my whole person… so stuff like this sometimes doesn’t sit right with me (not that it’s wrong) it’s just horribly disingenuous, and the story they tell us is to be honest and genuine on socials because that’s how you suppose to come up. And let me tell you, it doesn’t end up looking like this… so then in a world where vanity numbers and social currency is everything you’re counted out before you could even get in the game, because you’re playing the game by the rules… to me, It’s just hypocritical. Smh . All love tho at the end of the day. The rich get richer. It’s all is a game , and life is but a dream.

From the resources and basis you've touched and keep touching it's going to show others what to do and what not to do. For the most part some things are being seen that hey if you take this on this is what such and such expect or will expect from you in order to make it. On the other hand being independent still means be responsible as you take on your own way of doing things.

Several factors go into the young man 4Batz monthly listeners and the large play count each song has on streaming services. 1. The Sound and Look are unexpected. 2. He does have a team behind him. I personally havent clicked his spotify but from what i dad in the video three tracks are well under the tyoical 3.5 minute radio edit that has been the industry standard for ages. 3. Smooth beats 4. Short tracks 5. Catchy voice and hooks. Could be a new direction for music and songs. The short tracks is a genius idea. Think about it... If the track had a sweet hook you'll listen multiole times especially if it's a 1 and a half minute track...

Correction, I wanna say my two cents. I couldn’t wait till the end of the video. I’m sorry, but this is obvious that he has an imprintdeal a.k.a. this is when you have a big backing of a label, but you’re still independent. You’re not sign. You just have the backing of a label like RCA, which has ties with Sony. It’s not look that he found his manager last year. I was in a group full of artist like this, but you don’t have to take my word take this guy‘s word and making a video but if you do read the comment like it, please give you information you didn’t have before that’s my two cents

Yea definitely an industry plant lol. But now that those major label layoffs took place, we will see more of these. Those former employees from UMG probably still have their contacts. The two tiers of homegrown independent vs unsigned with major contacts will grow.
