This is a great card. Lloyd’s even charge that 50 pence when use a currency account. I have a Lloyd’s EUR and USD account and when use my dollar account in US I still get charged a transaction fee for paying in dollars from an account holding dollars! Have used Curve for nearly a year and is brilliant

I've been using Curve for about 6 or 8 months now, just like you are. I remember that I've even commented on your original video. In those couple of months, I've had only two or three declines with my Curve card. I work in the industry (for their competitors, actually), so I'm not surprised or scared that this happened - cause it does happen, it's not their fault, it's the fault of their third-party partners. Apart from that - works like a charm. It really does save space in my wallet. I think that their app looks a bit outdated, especially compared to Revolut or even my main bank, which is ING (Polish ING app looks superb, it's the best banking app one could possibly imagine), but that doesn't matter that much. Having said that (and being completely satisfied with their services), I believe that those guys should invest heavily in marketing. Maybe they are advertising themselves in the UK, I don't know that, but over here, in Europe, nobody knows about them. And that's a pity. We need a stronger presence of fintechs here. Competition always equals innovations. What's the point of introducing lots of cool features when nobody has heard of your company?

If you have 1or two cards it's pointless but some football club push you in to having curve to scan in through turn stiles only way by next season.

Hi Stu, Thanks for your review. I’ve got a question though. How do transactions appear on your statement from your original bank? Are them debited directly or does it work as a transference from your bank account to Curve which, in turn, process the transaction?

How do the transactions appear on the actual bank side of things? Do they go through as the same retailer or do they go through as "Curve". Also with Monzo for example would you still get the benefit of pots if you were to use Curve?

well done video thanks for sharing your experience. Yes, this card/app is a nearly perfect idea. But sadly, you can forget this kind of card. This is a honeypot for every kind of intruder - a privacy and security nightmare for any of you if there will be a data leak or similar access. The intruder will than have access to all your data of the cards. Ah yes and they all tell you "this will never happen, we are secure and Military grade encryption, local datastore on your device, blablabla". Of course, what ever they say...

Hi, I have been using Curve for a few years now. Its a great card. there only issue I have had is the refund system. not all the refunds processed on the card will reach you account. I would say it is as high as one in three, so you just need to keep an eye on this. they are also aware that there is an issue with there refund system. other than that its pretty good

That was an issue during the wirecard service outage period wasn’t it? I haven’t had any issues with refunds since!

@@StusReviewsUK not just then. I have had issue prior and after. I am just going through an exercise with them now where they are reviewing my account. Over the last month they have found 4 unprocessed refunds. I do use my card alot, for pretty much everything.

I just got my curve card, and I got some interesting questions - no answers yet after investigating a few hours. 1. When I go abroad, curve charges my card in the card's original currency. Does it count as a foreign purchase for the card behind it? (on my card, I have an incentive for foreign purchases (2% vs 1%), and I do live and spend outside of my card's country, so it is a big deal for me. 2. £500 pound fx limit monthly - I do spend way more than that. Black seems super expensive. Any way to get around it? 3. I am super curious what is the business model behind Curve, where do they earn money? I doubt it's only the fees form premium subscriptions.

Love this reviews Stu, thank you! I was going to sign up for curve but had a question about the cashback you may know the answer to? Can you chop and change the 3 retailers that you get cashback from, or once you’ve selected them are they set in stone? Keep up the good work 😀

how do you feel about the premium and metal card?

I really liked this idea and have even signed up for one. However there is one massive drawback. This card does not offer the consumer credit protection that all UK credit cards do. This year alone this has enabled me to recover £200 for unscrupulous Trivago agents. It’s a shame as the features you outline are excellent but not worth the loss of that protection for me. Not to say it won’t suit others.

I’ve never had to use it, but curve have their own protection that covers you for a higher amount than section 75. Not sure how it compares in actual use, but the paperwork suggests it’s actually better.

@@StusReviewsUK yes it does offer higher protected amount but at their discretion. Although in reality i can’t see them refusing genuine claims. Thank you for the reply, i genuinely like this card and idea and will continue to mull it over. The key may be when/if Santa brings me an apple magcase and wallet. That will force me to consider the cards i carry. The curve solves this. Great channel btw.

I have starling, monzo and a halifax clarity card. Would you recommend a curve card as Starling would let me withdraw without charges, but with Curve I'd be limited to a certain withdrawal amount before charges much like monzo?

Now - in subscription to get black version. Sad, is now 1% caschback on free blue card. You have Legacy Black Edition and I cannot get it ;/ Sadly, change was go bad in some direction.

How does it work with regards to loyalty points on the cards you load onto it? I have a Sainsbury’s Nectar credit card and get points every time I use it. Will I still get those nectar points if using the Curve card?

Hey Stu, Thanks for the review. When curve first released this product a few years back I thought it was an awesome idea. Being honest, I went off the idea when they no longer supported Amex cards - arguably the best reward cards in the UK market. Without this support, they no longer offered a true replacement for my whole wallet and it lost the appeal. Do they support Amex again now? If yes, fantastic as this tool then enables you to earn Amex level rewards at merchants who still don't accept Amex (yet). Personally I don't see this product offering any other benefits to me, as effectively working as an intermediary. Apple pay and google pay are widely accepted where I live and usually in the places I travel too. Thus I don't need to carry pavement cards if I don't want to. These apps allow me to puruse recent charges if I please. I have credit cards specifically for when I travel that don't charge for overseas or foreign currency use and a debit card that allows free, unlimited cash withdrawals overseas too, so this wouldn't create anything new for me here. I note some people still refuse to make use of credit cards in 2019 - for whatever reason - so they can get the same benefits using a service like Starling Bank, Monzo or even Nationwide - who other than Metro, seem to be the only financial organisation who are currently opening branches in the UK 🇬🇧 👍. Personally I don't see any benefit to using this product unless it closes that Amex merchant gap. 👍

Just got mine, it did support amex....now it doesn't....but they hope to have amex support again in the future, it really is good though.

@@frankwilliams977 well I've literally just got it and checked it works....but if you download the app you'll see what it does. It just seems super convenient to have one card, I travel a lot so I'm interested to try it abroad...use ATM for free: transactions only charged at exchange rate....that's quite impressive. They also give you various benefits for using it. I got the free version, but you can pay 10 or 15 pounds a month and get gadget insurance, access to executive lounges at airport, worldwide travel insurance etc,...idk...I like gadgets and looking forward to using this, ask me again in a few weeks!

The app reviews are very mixed on Curve, at least on Android - have you had any issues or problems since using Curve? I'm intrigued but it looks not quite as free as it suggests...

No issues whatsoever- honestly, I love how easy it’s made tracking my outgoings across my bank accounts. And like I said, it’s saved me quite a bit of money whilst abroad! I haven’t used it on android however, so couldn’t give you my opinion on that- but the iOS version works a charm 👌. If you haven’t tried it- it costs nothing to give it a go, so try it out and let me know what you think!

Mixed results so far... doesn't work at Tesco pay at the pump for fuel as the system can't get a balance reading before allowing the transaction...and for some reason today, getting cash out (linked to my debit card), I got warned about possible charges then Curve registered two withdrawals but I only got one...logged those transactions with Curve, not sure what my bank will see yet, hoping not two withdrawals....OK in Asda and at a local Indian restaurant though...

Correct! But if you make a payment with whatever card is on there already, you can switch the payment afterwards using the ‘back in time feature’!
