i was looking for a monitor and i mainly need it for editing but of course will use it for some gaming. Most likely story games, because the only game i play competitive is SmashBros. Im glad to hear that curved seems to be the best choice, because i love curved screens but wasn´t sure about the benefits the Monitors have. Great Video

There is a ton of misinformation in this video about flat vs currved monitors. Pixels have a limited viewing angle and there is distortion when you are not viewing 90 degrees / perpendicular to the monitor surface.... when viewing a small monitor from a distance, the angle to the bottom sides and corners is small... but when viewing a large gisplay up close, you could be viewing the sides or corners of you disp[lay at 45degree off perpendicular, so a flat monitor would appear more distorted in this case... the entire display surface should be equal distance from your eyes, so large monitors that take up a lot of your FOV should be curved in both directions, side to side and up and down, like a globe... but those aren't available yet.

Curved gives you a wider FOV, so you can literally see enemies better and faster than someone with a flat monitor, right? And i suppose it makes more sense buying a curved 2k 165hz Monitor 27' inch than a curved 1080P 27 inch 240Hz due to 2k having the better pixel ratio on 27 inches, right? Im thinking of upgrading my 'old' 24 inch flat screen with 144hz.

It depends on the game. On a 16:9 24-27 inch monitor, it's pretty useless unless it has an ultra aggressive curve like Samsung's 1000R monitors, since at normal viewing distances, flat screens of those sizes occupy most of your peripheral vision anyway. Most curved monitors are also VA Panels which has an inherently slower response time and higher input lag than IPS panels, but better contrast. And unless you're buying mid-tier or better ($500+) comes with pretty bad smearing as well. Curved monitors also tend to be ultrawide (21:9) only ones I see putting out 16:9 curved are INNOCN, AOC, Spectre, and Samsung. I definitely do not recommend Ultrawide for MOBAs, and some shooters (I believe Valorant, is an example? Not sure) just cut the missing vertical FOV, so it's basically just a 4k image cut in half which they say is to prevent a competitive advantage.

Yes, and no black bars at the bottom and top if its a 21:9 ultrawide 3440x1440 monitor. I have a 4k 55" tv that is 16:9 and Prime video movies have black bars at bottom and top. My 34" ultrawide on my PC on the other hand, does not have blaack bars at bottom and top, and I have a blue ray burner in my PC specifically so I can watch blue ray movies. -no bars either. Between the two, i prefer the 34" ultrawide over the 4k TV. The black bars just kind of ruin it for me. I'll take the 34" ultrawide every time these days.

That's because consoles typically don't (or just flat don't) support wide aspect ratios. So these wide and ultra wide monitors only make sense for gaming pc setups.

@@treywesley958 21:9 is ultrawide, 16:9 is standard.. Nobody uses 4:3 monitors (or TV's) these days. That standard got dropped at least 15 years ago. Unless it's ultrawide, the default is 16:9 for any modern monitor.

Widescreen. Ultrawide, in fact. Standard monitor aspect ratio these days is 16:9. At 21:9 you have a much wider field of view, which is handy for first person shooters and racing games, etc, If you have 2 monitors at 16:9..... the center of the picture would be right at the edges of two monitors. You would be better off with 3 monitors than 2, unless you game on only one, and use the other to..... play youtube videos or something, while you frag. I own a 3440x1440 (21:9) Ultrawide at 144Hz and I dont think I could ever go back to a 16:9 as a main monitor again. It cost more, but in hindsight it was more than worth it.

In the end, it's just a gimmick to get you to buy a new tv or monitor. For example, if you have an 86" top of the line TV.... how can they get you to buy another one...... make it curved. From across a fairly large livingroom (hence why you already have an 86" tv) you cant tell if the tv is curved or flat. Having said that, when it comes to monitors and PC gaming, you generally sit much closer, and if youre a hardcore gamer like me you probably have more than one monitor (my setup has 4) racing games love a 3 monitor span view, where I'm surrounded my screens. Shooters also like the wider view. In this case I've grown to prefer curved monitors over flat ones, as it's just that little bit more immersive. Had a uni instructor years ago who said "How can they get you to buy a product you already own? Put a clock in it." which is essentialy what curved monitors are, just a gimmick with a new twist for an old product.

Dude you say "Curved" but most of the time you are talking about ULTRA WIDE Monitors! Which is not the same! Technicaly an ultra-wide display could also be flat. But 99% are curved. Ultra-Wide has an Aspect-Ratio of 21:9 . But there are MANY MANY 16:9 Curved displays. which, if it has R1000 curve, is PERFECT for the human eye! So it doesn't get better than this. You should get your stuff right dude!

Yep, this video definitely helped me. Curved monitors are better for single player games while the flat monitors are better for competitive fps games like Call of Duty. But what about the 32 inch curved monitors? Isn’t that a mixture of both? I play a lot of Call of Duty, but I also want that extra immersion.

I disagree with that. The most important thing 3 factors are size, resolution, and refresh rate. If you have a larger monitor than a competitor, at a higher resolution, which refreshes faster, you would be much harder to flank, simply because you see more area, and more clearly. Take a 27" monitor at 1440p vs your opponent who has a 24" monitor at 1080p. You clearly have an advantage, bigger screen, so things are bigger, and higher resolution means you see more area. Name anybody you know, or have heard of, that buys an RTX 4090 to game on a 21" monitor at 60Hz and 1080p. You cant because no such person exsists.If you're running an RTX 4090, its going to be on a 27" or larger, ie 34" ultrawide or 42" at 1440p or 4K with at least a 120Hz refresh rate. Also, at higher resolution things like Anti-aliasing are much less important to get smooth edges on objects. At 1080p those rough edges really show.

You're confusing ultrawide with normal HD and once you try an ultrawide monitor you would never willingly go back to a 16:9 monitor again. Trust me on that one bro, its the BOMB. 3 monitors for racing/driving games. The one directly in front of you for looking out the front window of the vehicle. Who wants to look out, for example, only the left window. Flight sims, same thing, otherwise, I would also use head tracking or eye tracking so that when you turn your head slightly, the view on the monitor simulates you looking round like in real life. The most immersive would be 3 monitors WITH headtracking (webcam required but the headtracking software is free and there are tutorials on youtube to show you how to set it up) headtracknoir... google it.

After a certain distance, you cant tell if a screen is curved. Look at a mountain in the distance, from so far away it looks flat. all you see are jagged edges, when you get close you realise that its HUGE.

VR is freaking hilarious,. and its pretty darn good for certain games too. Even just watching prime video VR is amazing. youtube 360 is freaking AWESOME. You can check out some curved monitors from Gigabyte and MSI, they have good ones in an affordable range. The second thing you can do is look for refurbished or used ones from your local marketplace. Be sure to inspect and look for dead spots. And lastly, you can just save up and go for the one that makes most sense to you.

Aspect ratio and distance to the screen has more impact than curved or flat.. if youre 80 feet, from a 21 inch screen how you going to notice the screen is curved? If you like to get up close and personal, like me, the most important thing is aspect ratio, and 21:9 is better than 16:9 when it comes to movies, cuz no black bars, like you get with 16:9 at the bottom and top. I like my curved 34" 3440x1440 at 21:9, cuz no black bars at bottom and top, and thats through a streaming service or the Blue Ray drive in my PC. 99% dont have black bars. 21:9 rules.... and yes its curved.

lets talk about the VERTICAL viewing area you LOST going for the ultra wide CURVE. yeah good luck with that, unless youre playing flight simulator or a driving game or shooting from a takn your windhshield style view will not be ideal, which is why this review is total BS

wrong, thats resolutions, which seems to confuse you. 1440 is the scrren heidtht, not width, compared to 1080p for example 1920x1080p have the same aspect ratio as a 2560x1440p at 16:9, but the 2560x1440p has a much wider viewing area due to the higher resolution.

the 800 pound gorilla in the room folks!! you have these curved ultra wide monitors, some 49 inches long, but no not at 16:9 instead they shrink your vertical size in favor of the horizontal. NOT GOOD. NOT GOOD AT ALL. Curved screens tend to catch background light reflections and enhance them on your screen not to your benefit. productivity? forget about it!!

a 49" monitor allows you to have far more screen space, on one screen, which can be divided by 3, than three screens that make up the total screen space, such as 3x 27" monitors without bars (screen edges) taking up and/or blocking view, but 3x 27" is generally far cheaper for a REASON. IMO no 49" monitor is worth a crap unless its at least 1440p. You can get (ini Australian dollars) 49" monitors at 1080p for less than $800, but a 1440p woould cost you nearly $1600. You get what you pay for, and unless you have specific uses for that much monitor, probably are not worth it. Itd be far cheaper for me to put two x 2560x1440 (16:9) next to my 3440x1440 (21:9) than to just buy one $1600 monitor at 1440p. 34" ultrawide $600. two times 2560x144p 27"at $248 each. But that isnt the same as having 1x49" monitor at 1440p. Walk into your favorite shop and look at those monitors and you'll probably say "Wow"

disagrees, if the center of your screen is 27" from your face, then the corners are 28 to 29 inches from your face on a flat screen, depending on the size of the monitor,, of course. if the screen is curved, then the corners are less far from your face than they would be on a flat screen. perception is everything......

Wrong!! try gaming on a curved 34" 3440x1440 ultrawide and youll never go back to 27" flatscreen again, at least not willingly. FPS, RPG, RTS, doesnt matter. 34" ultrawide craps on a 27" period, bar none. Ive got a mate who makes $2000 a DAY and is one step below "Architect" in the IT field and she says "Your screen is so awesome"
