Beautiful, love the paint that permits you to create little pearls of gold. This design shows so well what the judicious use of negative (blank) spaces can do to enhance the overall design. Here’s a little tip for you in case the swab is way too big for your rocks. There are these tiny little brushes that are disposable and they are called micro brushes.

Those would be wonderful for so many things but they are made on tiny plastic straws. I’m not perfect by any means but I try not to contribute to the plastic problem. I try to buy only reusable things. If it’s disposable I try to go with a paper based thing. I’m no expert but I feel like it helps.

Oh I’m so happy they are useful for you. I love using them on some of the KZbin help videos I watch. I had to add them. I wonder if when certain paints get stringy it’s due to age or weather. Once I bought a batch of paints and several were clumpy. I live in rural Arkansas and we do have a Walmart… I get lots of paints there and I sometimes think they’ve been on the shelf since the 90s 🤣🤣🤣 Also… as these paints sit in my tray on the videos… lol, sometimes it’s a couple of hours and they begin to dry. These are all guesses but I notice that sometimes it’s stringier than other times too. I just persist. I hope you have a great holiday weekend.

I typically don’t start the videos with anything more than a handful of paint bottles that look alright together maybe 😂 However, every once in awhile I get bored and I grab my sketchbook. I did this with this rock. I don’t sketch… I literally dot with paint. I do a far better job when I do this too. My sketchbook is a mess and the mandalas in them make little sense to a sad my one but me because I change the patterns as I go when I don’t like something. Lol! This one was in the book but only the center. I got myself started on paper then went for the rest live on here.. probably half way thru. Maybe I’ll do a video on how I do that. That will be fun. Lol! I think I said the very same thing so many times 😂😂 Just go slow, thin the paint a little, and practice. Literally… practice is all it takes. But even your worst swooshes won’t be picked on when you look at the full art work. It’s not perfect… it’s Art ♥️

Invest in a decent Staedtler Compass, if you can afford it, get a Quick Release compass. I'd paid out for two compasses and not cheap either and they were rubbish. If you want to make 30 & 40cm Dot Paintings you will need a compass with a wide radius about 10" or better.

This is excellent.. Thank you ♥️ I have bought 4 in total. I don’t like any of them and keep coming back to this purple one. I began looking because it was becoming unreliable and slipping like it did in this video. Every time I ordered another I’d go back to the purple one. Last week or so I noticed a screw in it where it hinges. I tightened it. I did a major Facepalm. I wish I knew what kind it was.. I took it from my daughter’s school supplies that it came extra in a set… years ago. I did look up the Staedtler one and put it in my Amazon cart. It’s about $30. I will move it down to save for later and the next time I get mad at this one I’ll give it a try. (I’m doing a no buy year and trying to stick with it.) I can’t thank you enough. I use water. I’ve had at least 5 comments about that during my stay on KZbin.. they say it will deteriorate my paint. I’m sure if I used an excess of it they might be right but I don’t see how a few drops will ruin a water based paint. So there’s my disclaimer, lol. I still prefer water. I’d say whatever you’re use to will thin these too.

One set of questions I've never seen on camera.... What do you do with your tools, as you are painting with them??.... As in.... When in the process do you wipe the paint off? How do you set your tools aside while you are painting? Do you store your working tools in a glass of water and wipe the tool off just before putting it in the paint? I don't know if those questions make sense... but I find that my paint (FolkArt or DecoArt and 25C temp room)... dries so quickly. I can't get one time around the rock before having to wipe the dried gob of paint off my tool. I must be working way too slow... but I am just a beginner. And when doing swipes... the paint dot is drying before I even have a chance to try dragging the tail out. Maybe not enough paint laying in the dot?? Thanks for any advice or suggestions!!!❤❤❤

Love fun questions! I have a small container to my right with water. I toss my tools in it when I’m done. It sits on a paper towel and a thin sponge. I just wipe them on that. I’ll make a tiny video on this because it’s hard to explain. If your paint is drying too fast you may need to add a little slow dri to it. There’s a link on my site for it down in mediums. www.jadelrocks.com/artdesk Apparently this will make the paint dry slower. Maybe you are going slow but that’s a good thing. Give that Slow Dry a shot? Maybe you’re just in a super dry climate? It’s very humid where I live so I don’t have that trouble. In fact, it takes forever for my paint to dry. That’s why you’ll often see me top dotting wet paint.. we joke about my impatience but it seems to take forever. Ok, and I’m impatient 😂😂😂. Good luck.. 🤞🏻

I tried using a pouring medium to thin the paint and slow the drying time... but it really didn't work (just made the paint transleucent).... so it might have not been the right stuff. I will look into the Slow Dry you suggested. Thank you so much for the tips!💞

@@mycreativeheart4159 anytime ♥ Thinning the paint with water or pouring seems to make it dry faster 😉 I think that’s where the paint additives come in handy. They have the right ingredients to slow down the dry. I don’t know the science end of it but it’s a real thing.

I love your videos, but watching this... it feel like I am watch "amandala rocks" video tutorials. Not the rock pattern and colors but the way the videos are edited and presented.. I think each channel should have it own style.. anyway! happy holidays!
