Remember back in like, 5th or 6th edition back when the plastic valkryie was first released? I remember the guard codex had a lot of forge world options (like vendetta's, colossus bombards etc) included in the mainline codex. I feel like the Custodes would be a perfect army to do that with again. Even if it is only the custodes, the golden bois just have so much of their range included in forge world that it would just make sense

I would want to see a few more plastic options though, especially a strong shooting troop option, which we currently lack in plastic. They need to at least make Saggittarum possible as a fully plastic kit I'd say.

@@ethanjungbauer1554 While I would absolutely love forgeworld kits to be done in plastic for custodes, as I main Custodes... I fully agree that this should be bottom of the list of GEs priorities... Orkz and Eldar are absolutely crying out for a faction overhaul, Ork Boyz have been around since I got into the hobby in around 2001, same with the aspect warriors! Thankfully Dark Eldar will get some love soon, hopefully put an end to some of their fine cast. Then for Chaos, we need a complete overhaul of Khorne Berzerkers and Noise marines with a nee Lucius model. How on Earth this hasn’t happened before now is quite frankly insane, there is literally about five different Primaris lieutenants but Lucius the eternal has had the same model for almost 20 years! Then obviously Guard needs some love, I can’t specifically say where because I don’t play them but it’s obvious those who do are despair it. And lastly, the only imperial power armoured army that needs a complete rework is grey knights. Put a grey knight marine next to a new Primaris and the difference is staggering. I’m not saying they should be Primaris Grey Knights as there should not be but they definitely need new “bigger” sculpts

I mean they could just have these dreadnoughts and it wouldn't even be hard to put all of them into one multipart kit. They have a very bare bones range and thats ok with how elite they are but 3 infantry and one jetbike option being complemented with only the normal contemptor kit and a standard landraider kit realy isnt doing them any justice, those units feel like they shouldn't even be in the codex.

Issue with the telemon is that even with 4 shots at ap-3 2 damage it really isn’t kill enough. I used to bring it every single game I played, and every single game I was disappointed.

@@zebpayne9269 you have to change your expectations, it's not always going to kill loads, but it's likely to absorb a lot of firepower, or it's going to control the centre of the board, or it will get in and rip something to bits, but as you say, it's shooting output isn't why you take it, well its not why I do anyway.

I’ve always disliked the look of Contemptors but must admit I really love the look of the Achillus and Galatus. I just bought into Custodes this week as a Christmas project and have been trying to decide on a dreadnought. I’m leaning towards a Telemon but that Achillus looks pretty awesome too...so maybe both? ;). Thanks for the overview...enjoying all the Custodes content I’m seeing lately considering I just got into them. Hopefully we see a Codex for them next year.

It's all in the little details. Custodes dreadnoughts (not counting telemon) have smaller shoulder pads and are generally sleeker, with less of the beer gut of the contemptor

Dual Caestus on a Telemon is a waste of a weapon slot. There's literally no point in taking another close combat weapon when Eternal Penitent exists for 1CP. You're sacrificng serious ranged damage out put by having 2 close combat weapons on it. The Achillus does a better job at fully close combat than the Telemon.

Did not see it in the comments, but the Shadowkeepers (shield host) strategem "Grim Responsibility" [-1 to attacking weapon strenght] makes the Telemon even more difficult to kill as even Str. 9 lascannons suddenly start to wound you only on 4+, add to that "Emperor's Auspice" and well ...

Imagine deploying a telemon out of deepstrike with double fists and just charging him into the enemy and seeing your opponent panic; trying to remove this nigh unkillable being from his gunline. Or build an imperial soup army,where one telemon is continously healed by an enginseer, making it absolutely impossible to kill. It would be hilarious!

2 fists is a waste of a slot. You may as well give it a ranged weapon, Eternal Penitent for 1CP, and a single Caestus. There isn't any benefit for having 2 close combat weapons on it. If you got an extra attack on top of the 2 that you get for having 2 weapons, for dual-wielding, so 3 extra attacks altogether, then it would be worth taking, but the rules writers really dropped the ball with the Telemon.

@@WardenOfTerra ahhh pardon me, I misinterpreted the rules. If that’s the case, then I’d replace one of his arms for a culverin.That way, he can kill elite infantry (presumably the most dangerous melee threat for him)before he initiates his charge.

I think the best stratagem combo is the Grim Responsibility stratagem from the shadowkeepers. Being able to bring every weapon that targets a telemon down with -1 to their strenght is super powerful on the T8 telmon, making weapons of s5, s8 and s9 which are usually the best options for dealing with the telemon, so much worse.

Two big strats are the shadow keeper strat to reduce the strength of enemy attacks by one and emperors auspice to turn off rerolls. Even the mighty eradicator can’t handle a telemon with those stats

I do prefer the Achillus over the Telemon. Giving them adrathic destructors makes then into nice counter attack units, from the deep strike, against inceptors. Their additional damage output in combat, and the fact that they don’t degrade makes the Achillus the go to in my opinion. Deep striking a pair of them alongside a unit of Allarus, with a shield captain in support is a fierce combination.

While it is a lot of cp to get that Dread Host thing to work if you include Trajan in your list he will refund you the 3cp for FGLTC. I have had great success using both of the contemptors together. Drop them in turn 2 and the enemy HAS to deal with them which leaves the rest of your army to do it’s thing.

I just picked up the Galactus for that same reason. He can be placed on field and possibly distract enemies but if you want to deep strike charge your dread the achilles is better So I got both

I own 2 Telemon, with 2 of each weapon available, and the Achillus and have used both extensively before and after the update. The Achillus has become crazy points-efficient with the update. Just a solid Allrounder that does not break the bank. Solid shooting, can Escort a character very well and just wreck anything when he gets to CC The Telemon is just such a dominant unit to push up to midfield. Duty eternal with the shadow keeper and maybe a banner and killing him becomes a nightmare for almost everyone(damn you clowns). Push up, clamp down on an objective, shoot whatever presents itsepf to your guns and charge what's stupid enough to come close. Pure output isn't all that massive but the Telemon is a potent tool for controlling an area of the board and being an almost invincible distraction fex. For pure output one should look at aquilon Terminators and the Ares Gunship

The dread host twin fist telemon with eternal penitent out of deep strike is a nasty assassin. 1 cp for golden light, 1 more for wisdom of the ancients. That sucker gets 7 attacks at that beastly statline. Hitting on 2s, rr1, wounding a knight on 2s. It will punch a knight out in one go. Nasty assassin to use that way. Love the telemon

When playing against Custodes you do two things play objectives that don't require you to kill the enemy, spread out far enough to spread the 5 dudes the custodes can bring to the fight thin enough that they are not as killy, and the best option curse their dice so they fail their saves

current meta custodes players play mostly achillus and/or telemon bcause galatus has very lackluster stats. if the warblade was S +1/+2 and the shield was 4+ invul with either +1 sav or -1 hit to both range and melee then more people will definitely take it. they would hav choices of: cost to durability=galatus, cost to melee=achillus, cost to range=telemon i hope they would change galatus stats bcause it is one of the coolest dreadnought models and its sad that not many people use it bcause of its stats. *want leviathan dreadnought to be S/T:8 again to match telemon
