Wow awesome job as always, great to see you are finally back on the LS swap Defender. Love the idea of the centre section being wrapped in leather and the two outside pods being done in body colour. The passenger side needs to look symmetrical as you suggested, otherwise it will just bug the hell out of you, I know it’s a pain to have to redo that side, but trust me it will be totally worth it in the long run. Great to see Sasha taking an active part in the build 🤣 Keep up the great work. 😎👍

Looks good. Im with you on the pass side, chop it after the box and thin it out a bit

That’s my feelings, just good to put it out to some outside eyes as well. Sometimes you get a little “blinded” when it’s something you’ve been around or stared at too long.

Hi I'm a new sub, not a land rover guy. Enjoy your content and your humor. Really like the Defender build. Hope to see more soon. Thanks.... keep it up!

Appreciate that! I’ll be plugging away at this one, should be a fun one to get together.

Yes, go with your thoughts on the passenger's side.

That looks very nicely built.

I would recommend introducing a litlle tapering on the centre box,angled more toward the windscreen it would introduce a bit more balance. Currently its presenting as quite boxy. Bottom to top taper. Sides bottom to top taper.
@LostCauseRanch5 ай бұрын
I’m glad you said that as well. I was waiting to make that call until all the pieces were mocked up to get a full visual. It wouldn’t be terrible to put a 3/4” or 1” strip inset 45 degrees on there to pull some of that sharp angle out of the design.

Man that’s inspiring, fantastic work making that dash. One of a kind

Impressive....that is going to be one unique Rover

Appreciate that! Hopefully it ends up being unique in a good way haha. But either way it is a fun project.

I think even out the right hand side and it'll be mint. Been itching for more LS3 defender stuff! Been loving this build. I've got a similar age 90 of my own down here in Australia! That's been its own process of rebuilding it. I can't really imagine doing it all and trying to film it. Keep up the sick work!
@LostCauseRanch5 ай бұрын
I agree on that. Have fun with that 90, it’s a labor of love haha. Over the years I’ve kind of figured out it takes about 3x the time when filming a project, but hey I have a blast doing it and love sharing it. Appreciate you following along!

@@LostCauseRanch definitely haha. Mine was in the middle of a field for quite a few years and I had to save it. I appreciate your patience to film everything. makes for some good watching Also as a side note, I'd be super interested in a Land Rover Round up/tour of sorts, where you go through all the land rovers you own cause the ones I see in the background look sick. Its hard to piece together when you came across them through your videos. P.S Do you have a PO box or something? I'd love to send you some stickers and stuff from my local land rover club here in australia (we're the oldest 4wd club in australia)

Completely and utterly agree with slimming down the right hand side for the majority of the dash, and just increase the size around the blower motor. Will look waaaay nicer
@LostCauseRanch5 ай бұрын
I think that is the ticket. Balance it out much more.
@derelict_wanderer5 ай бұрын
As a long legged, tall guy, definitely tuck that passenger side to match as much as possible. Perhaps angle the blower motor bulk into the narrower piece for a better visual effect? As far as the leather spots, I agree with your idea. Maybe a bit more radius on the top for a softer edge on the pad? You could also just let the dash pad do the softening and keep the harder edge underneath for simplicity of fabbing with what you have.

Match the drivers side, and then make a cut out for the blower which would then be partially exposed; it's the LR way!
@LostCauseRanch5 ай бұрын
That’s actually a neat idea! I kind of like it.

I was thinking a false fold line on the passenger side level with the drivers would balance it up visually. Overall it’s starting to look really nice, waiting to see the next instalment.
@MarkChalmers-em3xp5 ай бұрын
If you are going to do in leather, can you have some stiching on the passenger section that is in line with the fold on the drivers side so visually they look all in line?Love the channel. I am a LR enthusiast, and one day i would like to do a similar defender LS3 project.

Nice job mate - just a thought - since you lined up the footwell angle so well - should it be flush ? What about the footwell mat/liner/carpet? , if you use the thick one for sound deadening do you want the dash to fit flush with that ? The factory one is about 6-7mm .. yes mm 😊
@Okierover5 ай бұрын
Do you need an "oh shit" handle on the passenger side? Could you incorporate that?
@LostCauseRanch5 ай бұрын
I was planning on some pillar mounted ones, but that’s also something to consider.
@julianenglar5 ай бұрын
TBH the passenger side looks money. it looks like it could fit a glovebox right there, like an LR3 or something
@LostCauseRanch5 ай бұрын
That’s not a terrible idea either.

Bro…it’s NOT a “failure” if you learned from it. Just call it…”tuition”. ;-)

Leather coated. First thing came to mind ...sound deadening. Everything that vibrates cause noise.
@LostCauseRanch5 ай бұрын
That was on my mind as well, although I’m sure this thing will still have some rattles haha. But no, that is a good point.
