CORRECTION: Alfred is a LNER Gresley B12/3. The ones designed by Holden are the B12/1’s and B12/2’s (also known as the GER S69’s).

I think it's fair to just label all of the B12's as Holden designs, Gresley really only made adjustments to the pre-existing design for the B12/3.
@daylightman84593 жыл бұрын
Well yes but actually no. The frames, motion and wheel sets are the only things that are identical with the B12/3’s. The B12/1’s had Belpaire fireboxes, bigger domes, Ramsbottom safety valves and decorative GER frames. The B12/2’s had no decorative frames and a round-top firebox with Ross-pop safety valves (but the dome remains a similar size). Both of the Holden designed B12/1 and B12/2 variants also have identical smokeboxes. The Gresley designed B12/3’s had a different design of smokebox and LNER standard diagram 25A boiler.
@eddierools3 жыл бұрын
@@daylightman8459 You make a valid argument, but at the end of the day, the core design of the locomotive was by Holden, not Gresley. He made improvements to the design, yes, but in saying that, it would be like claiming the Raven A2's that were modified by Gresley should be called Gresley A2's instead. X'D

This is the best ERTL custom you did! If you can do the rest of the CFR engines, may I recommend differentiating the upper rear cab doors from Culdee and (open door) Godred? You can reference the Snowdon Mountain Railway Engines on the rear cabs for reference as each cab door is of a different design. In addition, I thought it'd be cool if you could tackle ERTL customs for Pip & Emma (with their coaches included), Ivo Hugh, Mike, Bert, Rex, SKR coaches, brake vans, and goods vans, etc.
@22Tesla3 жыл бұрын
Awww thank you! HEhehe on the CFR engines, I'm way ahead of you. I've designed versions of them that you can snap some N-scale wheels into the bottom and make them them roll onn N-scale track as dummy units, same with the coaches. I've designed ALL the CFR engines, differing rear window details that match the Snowden engines exactly. I've even made Ertl-ish styled Snowden diesel engines. All those models just need the bottom base for Ertl wheels. As to the other ideas, I'll see what I can do. Pip and Emma are actually on the list already.

Since you're starting to make and produce custom ertls on shapeways, I was wondering if you will make Ryan, the canceled Cadbury bournville locomotive, Merlin, and the popular o c Richard? Both Merlin and Richard are n15 King Arthur class locomotives and they also appear to have u hook couplers on the back, similar to the 2002 - 04 ertls. I saw Twitter pictures of Ryan Merlin and Richard as Custom ertls. Think you can try to do those 4 and maybe possibly design the three Thomas characters after their fanart counterparts? Customers would really love them they would be happy to have a diecast Cadbury bournville locomotive for their collection.

Howdy! Sorry but I need some advice. I'm new to shapeways and need some help or advice on how to get started. Do You have any advice for how to start?
@22Tesla3 жыл бұрын
Hmmm... well to start you need to create an account. This will allow you to import models that you will sell. Once you have some models imported then you can begin to set up a store. When setting up a store, one thing that you'll need is a bank account to attach it to, that way your mark up sales can be sent there. A lot of this information can be found on Shapeways but that's how I would start. Everything else that follows is something you'll need to experiment with, like changing the mark up price of your models that you are selling. Because material price differes between materials, you'll need to be aware of how much you are charging for your items since sometimes marking the price at twice the amount will mean a price customers won't pay for. Like anything with any business, you'll need to balance between making a profit and keeping it affordable. Promoting your models will certainly help you get noticed, it depends where and how you do that. I promote here on KZbin, Twitter and DeviantArt where I can get noticed so that's something else you'll need to do on your own. And the more promoting you can do on free plateforms, the better. Saves money Hope that helps. If you have any other questions, I can help were I can but most of the help I assume you'll find on Shapeways will be more useful and informative.
