My son turned up at home about 12 months ago with almost the exact same set up. Now I know where he got the idea lol. I have a new D-max turning up soon and will put an Aluminium Canopy on the tray as soon as I have the cash. Will install similar in there I recon. Oh and I bet Drifta love ya for putting these last couple of Video's out. Love your work mate.

Awesome build mate! Educational, inspirational and entertaining, what a combo. Can't ask for more than that.😊 Yet another suggestion for the slide out table, turn it into a thin drawer and have the table as a drop in from the top (with finger holes to lift it out). The top could be supported by dividers in the drawer, it wouldn't need to be very thick. Use this drawer to store the support leg, air compressor hose and fitting or any other low profile items. Just a thought, but I reckon you'd be stocked just the way it is (I would be).

Super build!! A plethora of great ideas. For the leg under the work surface extension, maybe a round magnet that will attract the tip of the rod (if it's steel), and additional magnets along the length that attract/grab/hold the rod when you place it underneath? No hardware, no fiddling. The best build I've seen, especially in maximizing every square inch of volume. Well done.

Really good set of videos. I am thinking of doing exactly what you did. I think the fridge being down low, and save space up top for camp chairs/table, etc. And for most part clear rear view for driving. MSA drop down slide looks cool, but I bet you pay a pretty penny for that thing. Thanks for as really good detailed set of videos.

The handle latches look better than the Drifta ones. I just bought a pair for my drawers. I got steel Dobinsons draws. They look average with the ugly handles and brown aluminium strip around the carpet. So I decided to spruce them up so they look more modern. Good job Steve, they look fantastic.

For drawer runners you can also use smooth laminex strips face to face or the yellow ppe strips used to join chipboard flooring with silicone spray works really well and way cheaper. Cheers.......Pete Ps.....i have drifter drawers that were already in my navarra when i bought it and after seeing your build im now going to rebuild it in the same fashion as yours..A 90ltr fridge freezer on top of the drawer system is not ideal and takes up a lot of useable space and like you said, the drop down slides are very heavy. Great vid and very informative.

Very nice how that worked out for you with the top drawer being clear of the top of the tailgate that's what we call them here in the states anyway I don't know what you guys call them but where it clears the top of the tailgate and you can still access your top drawer I would probably go one step farther though and add a a maybe one foot by one foot square trap door in the bottom of that drawer just in case you need to get to something important in the bottom drawer you wouldn't have to take but just a couple things out of the top drawer open your trap and you can reach right into the bottom drawer if there's necessities you know that you need from in there just a thought you never know..

New idea is to put the travel buddy on the left hand side and have it screwed to a slide out plate that is held down either side with French cleats. Then cut out a roughly 400x400 hole above the fridge so you can open the front half of fridge without having to open everything up. Great for grabbing a quick traveller

Loved it so much I built my own. Thanks for the detailed walkthrough of the build it was definitely a great help. I've just spent ten weeks on the road going "tip to tip" - Cape York to Wilsons Prom and the drawers were perfect for our purposes. One question though: I copied almost everything with relevant customisations for my setup, when I got to the part of fixing the Teflon strips it suddenly struck me that I had no idea what type of Silicon you used, what on earth is going to stick to Teflon?? I asked at the local Bunnings and ended up just taking a guess and using a roofing Silicon. This was the only failing for the build, about half way through the trip the teflon strips started separating (I put 6mm thick strips recessed a couple of mm's into the side of the drawer as well as the strips on the side of the cabinet that you used) It was the strips on the side of the drawers that started separating and have eventually fallen off. I screwed the teflon into the Cabinet base and bottom of the drawers as well as applying a bead of silicon but the side strips are thinner (6mm vs 10mm) so I used silicon alone. I'm about to hit the road again and I'd love to find out what you used and hear if your strips have held with silicon alone. Thanks again, As I said above the detailed walkthrough of the build helped me hugely, I'm definitely not a cabinet maker but following your tips at each stage made the build possible.🙂

Hey mate. Great to hear the video helped you make something that’s worked so well for you. I used roofing silicon as well but it lasted almost two years for me before I had one come loose. From that I done some research and found that automotive sikaflex is the best to use on it as it sticks to pretty much anything. To help it stick just scuff up the side your sticking down to help give it some more surface area to stick too.

for your travel buddy, mount it sideways further back and get a gull/emu wing so you can access for side. Keep it on drivers side so you can get the metal wing and dont need to see through it.

Again, what an excellent video. Well presented, fast pace, full of lots of info. Will be picking up our Ineos Grenadier in August so will have most of the gear made prior. Only question - what silicon did you use to stick the Teflon down with?

great follow-up to the previous. Well explained and great to ponder here in RONA state...but tomorrow night brave new world as you know.... Re the pie warmer - perhaps you could permanenty mount that on a piece of aluminium/plate sitting on some 20 x 20 channel so some how raised and dissipate heat. Then mount the plate on the top of the carcass on the right above the fridge with t-nut from below . 4 holes in the corners of plate that are in line with t nut . Bolt down with some form of curled knob . If its fired by anderson then clip/unclip....undo bolts and slide it out ...you have nothing on the top and nothing on the bottom as it looks like bugger all clearance for top of fridge....anyway just a thought .....

Depends on what you want but what you have built would probably be around 2.5k. but then you need to add bits like your battery box and air fittings etc. I really like those draw handle/latches.
