This is obviously not accurately proportioned, nor are LEGO minifigs themselves. This is the size I want for compatibility with other builds. Many things could have been done differently, but I did them all how I felt I wanted. Real thing: upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/7/79/Amtrak_406_F40PH_Phase_III_Paint_Scheme_%286121785963%29.jpg (it's actually a cabbage unit now -- I may consider using mine as such eventually)

I'm fairly sure your connection on the front there with the lights is an illegal connection. From what I remember putting an open stud through a wheel pin is considered forcing a connection on parts that were not designed to be connected. To me it looks like you're using a 1 x 2 modified plate with wheel pin slotted through the open stud of the 1 x 2 rounded plate. I might be wrong, my knowledge of legal connections is a bit old since I'm more versed in older techniques. If LEGO themselves have used this connection please do share, it'll be interesting to see where they used it.

The Amtrak F40PH locomotive is one of my favorite locomotives. The first ones were built and deliver to Amtrak in 1976. And they were also built to replaced the Amtrak's SDP40F locomotives. After they had problems with derailments. Then the F40PH locomotives got replaced by the Dash 8 locomotives and the Genesis locomotives in 1991 and 2001. And today there are other passenger and freight companies that have these F40PH locomotives. There are also Amtrak F40's in Display in museums as well. A lot of F40's still exist.

Loved the part with the camera on the front and pointing forward. Don't mind seeing more of that: the front view of a trainright through your city on all tracks. Made me think back to when I was a kid playing with my red Lego train. I sometimes dreamed I was the engineer and how it looked riding around. But then I didn't have any kind of city. Just rails and two trains.

Absolutely brilliant. I've always enjoyed your train mocs. And i do get what you mean by trying to replicate the real train in 6-wide 'scale'. I stuck with 8-wide because the trains I build are hefty and runs on narrow gauge in real life. Am actually in the process of designing another diesel that is 8-wide but running on 4-wide tracks. Looking forward to more train mocs jang!

Although I've seen amny phase iii F40s on video growing up, I never seen one in person until I saw 406 in 2014! NPCU (cab car rebuilt from an F40) 90368 was still in Phase iii until 2017 when it was repainted in Phase v like everything else! I have a Bachmann Spectrum HO scale model of Phase iii F40 304, and I bought used for $40!

F40PH's are still used to this day, but they are now NPCU (Non Powered Control Units). They pretty much took the engine out and they are rolling shells, but the engineer can still control the whole train with it. Where the diesel engine once was is now a baggage compartment.

That looks awesome. I recently started collecting Lego vehicles and figurings. Since I am also a model train buff I been wanting to add some lego trains to my train collection. Ofcourse the I get criticized about it from other model train folks. Asking why would I want lego trains they're not prototypical. I guess they don't understand that the Lego world is more or less a character of what we see in our world. Again great work. Awesome city too.
