I did as instructed, but now my hands are badly damaged from the stings and there is honey leaking on to my MOBO (MotherBoobs). What can I do to fix this? I want to blame AMD, so if there is reasoning that can do that please tell me and I will start yelling at Lisa Su. Thank. Wakanda FOrever.

So I posted my 3080 for $2000 on ebay for fun just to see what happens not expecting anyone to really take it seriously and someone already purchased it. I kinda feel bad but at the same time I'm literally getting an RTX 3090 now for free now. I made my money back plus enough money to purchase a 3090...

The indent on the Gigabyte GPU is to allow space for you to screw in the thumb screw without interfering with the lip that computer cases such as mine have. Some cases allow you to use a screwdriver to screw in the add-on cards without having to hold the screwdriver at an angle. Mine does not, and with my EVGA 2080 SUPER it was a royal pain in the ass to try to get the thumb screws in because they didn't have an indent. The full bulk of the cooler goes all the way to the back and with my case having a lip that prevents me from using a screwdriver straight on and the EVGA 2080 SUPER's bulk, it's next to impossible to install in cases such as mine. So my best guess is that they indented the Gigabyte 3080 so that people can still put in the thumb screws without the struggle the other cards will be guilty of due to their bulky designs extending all the way to the back. My case is Thermaltake Core V71. I've noticed in some newer cases they indent the case so that the lip doesn't interfere with the installation of add-on cards, or they have cut-outs on the case lip for a screwdriver to pass through.

So basically: manufacturers need to provide AIO filled with liquid nitrogen
@fvckyoutubescensorshipandt27184 жыл бұрын
I've always wondered why phase change coolers didn't just use LN2 rather than freon. -190 is better than -20. Also you don't need to hire some illegal to keep pouring LN2 into a copper cup 24/7.
@saab92514 жыл бұрын
You answered your own question. Phase change requires changing phases from gas to liquid. You can make this happen at various temps using pressure and a condenser element. You can’t reasonably do that with liquid nitrogen.
@fvckyoutubescensorshipandt27184 жыл бұрын
@@saab9251 Why not? Apparently someone compressed it to a liquid since you can buy it. Seems it would be cheaper over time to compress it yourself than keep paying someone else to do it.
@fvckyoutubescensorshipandt27184 жыл бұрын
@That other Guy Sounds like simply cascading compressors could do it. Use a liquid that boils not quite as low as LN2 for the LN2 compressor, plain/common R134 for the 2nd stage's compressor. Not as simple as one stage, but doable. And still cheaper than hiring someone to keep a copper cup full 24/7 that's constantly boiling away if you actually want to use your PC at -190C. I mean hell what's the point of overclocking with LN2 if you aren't actually going to use the overclock? Just some pointless 1-minute benchmark?
@TheFlypaste4 жыл бұрын
@@fvckyoutubescensorshipandt2718 Ok think of it this way: You have to constantly remove energy from the LN2 to keep it cool. That energy needs to be moved elsewhere, which requires energy to do. So you're constantly expending energy to keep the LN2 cool. The issue you run into is that the lower the temp is below ambient, the more energy you need to expend to maintain the temperature. Since it will heat up faster, since the delta in temperatures is greater. Your efficiency in terms of energy spent to cooling gained goes out the fucking window and becomes ridiculously expensive ridiculously quickly. When you purachase a jug of LN2, you're not paying for the elemental nitrogen, you're paying for the eletricity and equipment costs that it took to convert the N2 into liquid form. And yes the point of overclocking at -200c is for a 1-minute benchmark, congrats you figured it out.

@GordonGEICO4 жыл бұрын
I don't know if there's enough room between the 3080 and 3090 for a (real) 3080 Ti. When you compare raw specs, the 3090 (on paper) is only about 20% better than the 3080 ignoring the increased memory capacity. The on-paper difference between a 2080 Ti and 2080 Super was similar when you consider the 2080 Ti had 40% more cores but also ran slower (1545 MHz vs 1815 MHz). The 3090 is already going to be a tough sell in my opinion... anything that closes that gap is going to make it pointless. There will probably be a 3080 with more memory and they might call it Ti or Super but I don't think it would be a performance increase.
@164DiecastVideos4 жыл бұрын
There is no Ti. Ti is dead. Youll get 20GB but no TI. If there ever was a Ti it would be a 3090 Ti - there is literally no performance gap between the 3090 and 3080 that is meaningful.

I have the gaming OC and I can confirm it has dual bios for silent and OC. The gpu hits about 2050 mhz max without any manual overlock but in normal gaming conditions it fluctuates between 1930 and 2000 Mhz, depending on the temps which for me didn't went above 70 C for about 3 hours of gaming. Separately the GDDR6X memory runs very hot but there's no sensor on the PCB for it, I think it can easily reach 100 C because I managed to get a small burn after touching the backplate. Might be worth running some tests on the memory temps between each AIB.

Hope too see a review on the palit cards. Love the vide as usual.

Looks like these architectures have reached their practical potential. If these 3080 have a hard wall pretty close to stock, I'm imagining any cards they make beyond it would be monstrous in cooling and power draw just to keep them viable.

I never understood why PC building had to become this "how can I put more epileptic seizures in one case" type of deal. That being said, compared to the FE Nvidia card, these things are a joke in terms of looks, tho that card will probably stand out like a sore thumb in all these rainbow filled cases. Oh, and thanks for the hard work Steve.

So even with the coveted 3-pin power connector, the EVGA was, for gaming usage, only worth an extra two or three FPS... Makes me feel much better about my new, "Any 3080 you can get is a good 3080" mantra. I'm still leaning EVGA/ASUS for customer support reasons, but I'm no longer determined to get a FTW3 Ultra or Strix card. XC3 and Tuf will do just fine. High end cards may offer a slightly (VERY slightly, apparently) better OC experience, but the vast majority of gamers won't need to OC their 3000 series cards to get good performance.

The rumors about 20gb 3080 is popping up more and more. Maybe there is a further point in waiting patiently along with "scalpers full of stock"
@coredumperror4 жыл бұрын
I'm waiting to see if it'll even need one. No current games even *allocate* more than 8GB of VRAM, let alone actually need it. So 10GB should be more than enough for a while yet. Though if you're playing on 4K, near-future games may very well benefit from more VRAM.
@zackakai51734 жыл бұрын
On the one hand I'm really not convinced even 10gb is necessary right now, on the other hand who knows if that will still be the case in two years? And I'm planning on running whatever card I get for the next four years at least, maybe six depending on now the next-next gen cards shape up. So it might actually be worth it to wait. In the meantime I just snagged a used 2080 Super, I can comfortably wait with that for a while and then just resell it for a relatively small loss.
@johnbuscher4 жыл бұрын
coredumperror I honestly am only interested in the 3090 because 24GB of VRAM would enable me to try and run some higher batch sizes for some machine learning stuff and I think I’d like to mess with that and see if I can stretch my brain. But for games, I have a hard time thinking 10-12GB is going to be outdated for purely VRAM components. The only thing I could see is running Tensorflow accelerated programs like RTX Voice/Studio while gaming, so you may see better/higher saturation of your VRAM.
@LalaFafa4 жыл бұрын
I am messed up with this vram thing to be honest. It is indeed correct that the actual vram allocation, as mentioned above, is not that big. But ... hell, I dont know. I am on edge resolution of 1440p which is over fullhd and not 4k. I guess it could be living for ~3years at least just fine. I also guess nvidia counts on its dlss in the first place, because it effectively halves the rendering resolution, bringing the vram usage well below 10GB even in future games (though the main problem is that it *just works* and need to be implemented in the game engine)

I get pretty overwhelmed with all the different cards. Im wanting to get a 3080 for 4k gaming but i dont know which one i should get. I currently have an asus strix 1080ti oc, but i dont know if it would be worth spending the extra money for the more expensive versions over the founders edition. Or if i should go with the Tuf version. Or just get the FE. Really i guess i just wanna know if in game would there be a big difference between all the different versions?
@HossLUK4 жыл бұрын
@Sam Hyde yea i dont really plan on overclocking, but i did see there was a TUF card for the same price as the FE so i might just go with that one for any better cooling it would provide plus a better look in terms of the power cables, but im still undecided. As long as there's no noticeable in game performance jumps from each version of the 3080 then I'll either get the FE just for the better build quality and hopefully better resale value down the road or that non OC TUF card.
