At the risk of sounding like a nit pick but if you turn the plastic shroud parallel to the caliper forks you'll get a more accurate measurement as opposed to trying to hold it perpendicular. Your second hand seems to line up pretty well with the indices compared to a few others on the net. I like the steel shroud and steel band. Thanks for the comprehensive review.

Thanks for sharing. A simple change of the shroud does make the watch look so much fancier. Now I want to change the shroud and bracelet for my sne498. I just need to decide what colors to put on it.

They have one at the Kohls about 1/2 mile from my house and I was eyeing it last night. I think I'm gonna get my first quartz watch in quite a few years. I have a Turtle, Land Monster, Monster, and a Magrette Moana. I love the dial and different colors used but wasn't exactly thrilled about the blue shroud. Voila!

the shroud is not cheap. expect to spend around $100. but, for me it is so worth it. always prefer the so shroud over any other kinds.

Don't know the exact size of the Allen wrench. It's been a while since I messed with that. As with the screws, you should be able to just reuse the same ones that are on the watch already. Don't know about the black steel shroud? I just got my stainless steel one from yobokies. You may want to check with him to see if they might have some. Thanks for watching.

Hello, the watch with its protector measures 46'7cm, but with the protector that you put on it reduces the total diameter? thanks

I forget. Very little difference in diameter between stock and aftermarket metal one.

Do the regular tuna shrouds work on Arnie's? Or do the Arnie's require bigger shrouds because of the buttons?

Thanks. The shroud was from Yobokies. About $100, if I recall. I think you'll find most will be about that price range. But, the fit is perfect and quality excellent.

@@khronokraze That is way too expensive... You could buy a Seiko 5, Vostok or a G-Shock and still have some money left. A piece of metal shouldnt cost that much.

Just bought this and the steel shroud mod. Is the bezel insert aluminum?

The bezel inset is not aluminum, at least on the surface it is not. Seems to be some sort of clear plastic or resin covering bezel insert.

There's nothing I can do. Most places that may have them seem to be currently out of stock such as Yobokies where i got mine. And, I forget thwre is one other source.. Tunokies or somebody else with a weird play on the Seiko name.

I pondered that before but I didn't do it because it simply would have been too many different colors and finishes.

I saw from other review that the crowns are wobbly unscrewed. Is that true?

@@torokun yes, I suppose so. but, I never found that to be any problem nor compromise water resistance. besides, it's a solar quartz so the need to reset the time is few and far apart. and, no need to wind.
