Good to see what can be achieved when you take the time to get it right and not rush the job.

Excellent work and a great insight into forming metalwork. Particularly like you explanation of sharp corners and why its best to avoid them in order to ease painting!

G,day Mate. One thing I try to get across in my videos is to think the whole process through. The shape of the corners does effect the way it can be painted, so adjust your design to make it work. I have created a little bit of a paint delema with making the top of the cavity angle down at the outside. I will probably need the little spraygun to get that surface painted properly. Fun times ahead. Stay tuned. Cheers Rob.

G'day Rob, I noticed some comments in I think the last video of this project. They related to number plate lights and no room🙂 Thought for a moment, then decided to wait😉 Thanks for the update and proving myself right as to this video. Love metal work, and what can be achieved whilst other's are doubting finished item. Should definately comply, buddy ( re lighting) 😉🙂👍👍

I am a sparkie after all.😉 the original two lights will clip into the top of the recess and work just as GMH designed them to do. Stay tuned nearly there. Cheers Rob.

@@robsshed I figured as much Rob I went and measured a light just out of curiosity. ( typical 3rd gen Automotive Engineer) That loves metal work, creating bucks etc. Always have loved fellow creators, regardless of background trade life.😉🙂👍👍 Something to do with my Irish grandmother once saying the following; The day you die is th e final life lesson in learning, get used to learning. Keep those video's coming Rob, some day's they save my sanity😉🙂👍👍

@@robsshed I went and measured one Rob😉 New where you were headed, because of my trade life training. Love watching fellow creators buddy. Keeps my sanity, more particularly it keeps my mind focused and re learning things I have forgotten I learned 40yrs ago. Hand injury kind of messed with my minds capacity to locate information rolling around somewhere in my memory. Keep going buddy you teach well😉🙂👍👍

It’s amazing that when I start watching, I can’t envisage the end product of your forms and then it all comes together! Fantastic to watch, I have my own bender, be it a manual one, and still learn a lot, thanks again.

I use my manual bender all the time, the press brake will do some things the pan brake can't, and vice versa. Cheers Rob.

you should try some red and green off set snips . the cut will be much nicer with a lot less stretch that the red and green straight cut snips leave

I do have, and have worn out many offset red and green handle snips. Most of the time I don't see the need. Cheers Rob.

I'm a newbie to sheet metal work and trying to learn. Would have it been better to do the folds in the material before anything else to provide the sheet some strength when you cut the number plate hole and folded the edges

Hmmm what a lot of time and welding for a number plate panel!

If I fabricated a number plate panel the way you did it with welding, my boss would FIRE me as we fabricate panels using a press and fabricating dies, and shrinkers, strechers, hammers and dolly's and the english wheel and a 50 tonne press

I did explain in the video that this project could have been done in a variety of ways, my videos are aimed at entry level restorers with a minimum of experiance and equipment. I" try" to show methods that can be reproduced at home. I also shape a lot of metal in a 60t press. Thankyou for your comment. Cheers Rob.

That was a really weird moment, we went to look at it in a machinery dealers store, I was hoping to negotiate the price down. Low and behold, Deb just jumps in and tells the bloke, yes we will have it....... My wife just bought me a 60tonne press brake.
