In the US. I have a Metco metal sprayer that's probably a 50 year old design. It uses oxy/act to melt the wire and a single wire feed. The arc sprayer you have is the best design, I've seen. Wish I had one. I had 2 ex-navy tugs that had zinc coating applied 20 years before. They had no rust except where lines continually rubbed. I bought the Metco to maintain the coating. Later I had a small shipyard that mainly built and repaired larger commercial fishing boats. After sand blasting, I used a zinc coating inside and out, except for diesel tanks. That was many years ago, but those boats are the most rust free in the fleet. I'm retired, but still do some touch up jobs. Out of my usual line of work, I repaired 17 cylinders of a large printing press that someone had run a wrench all the way thru. I found I could lay as little as .0005" and repaired the cylinders without disassembly and machining. Metal spray is a great tool. I watch your channel because you do excellent work. When faced with an unexpected problem, you always do a proper job. No quick fixes. I'm amazed how much money and time is saved by remanufacturing cylinders rather that buying from the OEM. I bet your customers are amazed, too. You have a nice shop.

Big combustion generators, an incredible noise and a man dressed as an alien with a gun and a blue bubble at the end. I rode my bike to observe it and was delighted. To this day, the bridge has no corrosion spots. Greetings from Poland.

For better adhesion, you might want to thread the surface and shot blast the surface. And when you machine it on lathe after coating, it's better to start from middle to sides. By this way you can prevent from side cracks on the coating. You can coat stainless steel, copper, brass, zinc, aluminum etc. By optimizing current and wire feed you can have less porosity or rough surface. And also by using cored wire (like metco 8222) you can obtain pretty hard surfaces.

Hello CEE team, greetings from Belgium. Starting a Friday with a new machine is always a nice start of the weekend 😀, Being selected for testing & demoing a brand new machine in AU by Metal Spray Supplies Australia is a great recognition of CEE. Would be nice to know if after a in-depth technical & capability evaluation and overall TOC calculation if CEE would keep the machine or not, even when you are looking into a new arc spray solution.

Very nice machine for the shop. I have used the Thermion " BoilerMaster" and the "BridgeMaster" Arc Spray machines for Zinc applications on Cathodic protection restoration projects for Coastal Bridges in Oregon, USA. Thermion has a compact drive that is portable and operates on Welding leads to the work area. The Transformer is remote, and the drive unit is as small as a portable welder.

I worked in a machine shop for years and we used the old Metco sprayer. It used a oxygen and acetylene flame to melt the wire. We used 3/16 and 1/4 inch dia. Wire to build up roller to use to help pull cloth thru some of the machine in the cotton textile industry. Had to sand blast them to start with. The build up would last for about 6-8 months

I usually have experience on these HVOF coatings. You need a 6-micron diamond polish from Kemet Lapping which will give you mirror finish on product. I would also recommend looking for CBN inserts or diamond inserts for final machining cut.

If you got a bundle of cables, hoses, or anything of that nature, cable ties are not the best way to keep them organized. Instead, use a length of hydraulic hose spiral wrap. It will keep the bundle tight together, as well as being stiff enough to help prevent sharp bends while moving the bundle around.
@orangemonkeykiller
@orangemonkeykiller 5 ай бұрын
I used to work as a welder repair technician and what we found to work best was to run stuff like that in 2 inch blue layflat. Spiral wrap is great stuff, but anything more than a metre it's going in the bin. Who's got the time for that?
@AgentWest
@AgentWest 5 ай бұрын
@@orangemonkeykiller Layflat? Are you talking about basically a small firefighter hose? Yeah, I can see the advantage, and those particular hoses are rather robust.
@MetallisationLtd
@MetallisationLtd 5 ай бұрын
The power cables and air hose are run inside a robust supplies pack cover (like layflat). The cable tied items are the wire feed conduits and flexible drive cable that synchronises the feeder and the pistol drive unit. These items do wear over time and the conduits benefit from an occasional clean so most customers prefer to have them strapped / tied outside of the main supplies pack. We’ve tried many alternatives over the years but customers tend to always revert to cable ties… and the customer is always right 😊

My Wife used this instead of her hair dryer on accident, and she is now part of the 'X-Men' Just look for the woman with the metal head and that is my wife. You would think we would save a lot of money on hair care products, but now we just use a lot of WD-40 and metal polish. Cleaning her ears is more like caring for a rifle. She wanted her eyebrows done but we can't find and auto body that will take a grinder to her face. The kids love her all the same, and they love to put fridge magnets on her head. Last week she started to get cross-eyed and we had to degauss her from the neck up. The kids also leave lots of fingerprints on her, but we just polish or buff them out.

I bought a similar system for a company I worked for back in 2002. Used it for all kinds of repairs. It would spray many kinds of wire , from brass to a chrome wite that was 35c. Tried and true system. Doesn't do well long-term unless the repair is all the way around the shaft. No key ways or cuts. Basically a sleeve.
