I have the same truck and the same SCT BDX device. I noticed the same thing with the pre loaded tunes on the device and my truck wasn’t using all the gears and driving really bad. I bought some custom tunes from 5 Star tuning and they completely changed my truck for the better. Truck smoothly goes through all the gears and feels very smooth and peppy. I highly recommend looking into them.

The noise you heard was the VCT solenoid it rattles really bad in the 18’s when you let off the gas

I'm looking at getting tunes this spring. I'm surprised yours shifted through all the gears like it's supposed. Mine will skip 2nd and kind rev/lag or kinda feels like it's bogging some between 4th and 5th. My truck whenever I go up a hill it will sit on like 9 or 8th gear but then I gotta kick it down to 7th in order for it to shift after the hill. My truck will cruise in 10th down the majority of the time at steady speed. Curious to see what tuning will do it when I get it

Hey man you need to put gears in this truck. 4.56 with the 35’s will get you back to a correct final drive ratio. LMK if you have any questions with this I have the same truck with the 10 speed and I have 4.56’s with 35’s and I’m always in 10th gear no problem

So in summary you found the boxed tunes that came with the BSX to be best compromise, not so lazy and not so revvy , and it would shift into 10th , but still skips shifts? Im contemplating buying custom tunes, but Im no ricky racer, i just want better shifts, more torque. I found the stock sport mode annoying it holds low gears / high revs at low throttle positions after letting off the gas, its a truck not a sports car, so Im not interested in that, I just want it to utilize all gears dependant on throttle position and speed, if you know what I mean. I also noticed the truck does have AI, it learns your driving habits, so if the wife drives it, or you tow it learns those habits instead of your own driving habits. which is kinda annoying , might take to dealer and het them to remove the Ai and let it shift as the engineers intended. I dont granny drive it, I like firm shifts, pulling away quickly, but dont intend to race it, and dont want it to rev to redline or hold 3000+ rpm unless I got my foot buried in it . Whats your thoughts in summary? I got kinda confused . Stock, bdx box tunes, custom tunes? Thanks and appreciate your input
