So I’m driving down the highway on cruise control, and then I enter some traffic but if I disengage the cruise I have to cruise in 7th?

acquired a sct bdx tune and installed it on my f150 2018 5.0 the detail is that I have seen videos of how it makes the speeds go one at a time without jumping second and fourth I did a test with 87 octane and the speeds remain the same 1 jump at a time 3 from 3 to 5 and so on, I changed to 91 octane and the speeds remain the same from 1 to 3 and from 3 to 5 and so I just want to know why it doesn't do it on my f150 as I have seen in some KZbin videos that go from 1 to 2 and 3 and so on

That’s not very good fuel management. I normally drive 80 on the interstate. I thought these had different settings you could select to fix that. Looks like you have it set on sport or race setting - if that is an option. It seems many people reviewing these tuners change fuel to mid-grade or premium when they install these, confusing everything. Thanks for the review! Good job!

I might have missed it but what mode are you driving in? I have the tuner on 93 performance and selection eco on the stalk and get 18-18.5 in around town. But I keep my foot out of it. It will go up to 10th gear if you get above 45 mph. But when I drive like you did toward the end of video it loves the stuff.

I was just driving it in normal mode and that’s what I typically do and I usually get around 15 in town. I haven’t tried running it in eco mode but I’ll to do it and see what kind of mpg I can get from that!

Are you reviewing a custom tune here? My 2019 f150 5.0 never shifted through every gear all the time with the pre loaded bdx tune, it will only do that in sport mode and even then sometimes it skips gears. The odd custom tune I’ve used has sometimes used every gear during acceleration but it almost always has to be in sport mode to do so. I guess what I’m saying is this video is mostly misleading and will only confuse people who have never used a tuner please provide more info and better descriptions of what exactly you are running on this truck.

There is a 93 performance tune, 93 performance tow tune, and a 93 economy tune

Beltrik You don’t need a cold air intake for it, you can just use the stock air filter with it if you want to

Beltrik Yeah no problem. I’m running a 91 performance tune and a cold air intake and I’ve gained around 70 horse power. The tune itself on 91 performance gains about 55 horse power.

People need to realize you DON"T WANT THESE to shift through the gears at part throttle...Once you look at the gear ratios you understand this and why the OEM utilized skip shifts.

Is there a difference when you drive it in eco mode or sport mode? Or does the tune overrule that function?

I’ve had custom tunes perform like that, it’s normal especially if they think you are racing the truck and only care about performance. I switched to a vmp flex fuel tune and it was amazing, drove like stock until you gunned it but then would squeal tires at highway speed if you gunned it. I would put 94 octane plus boostane in the tank to get around 100 octane, now gas prices are crazy and I’m back to putting regular 87 in the truck and running it on just the boring preloaded tune that is still actually pretty good with my intake compared to stock.

How safe would you say this tune is for the 5.0 for long term reliability

Beltrik I’ve had this tune on my truck for about 5 months now. This truck is not my daily driver, however I drive it every weekend, just not during work, but I haven’t had a single issue with the tuner. The truck runs and drives really good and I haven’t had an issue with it. So for what I’ve dealt with it so far it has been very reliable to me!

I currently have a 2019 with the 5.0 stock and im having oil consumption issues and yes i already went to the dealer for a TSB. Are you having any issues like that after the tune?

No I haven't had any issues at all with the truck, whether it be before the tune and lift and everything, as well as when the truck was totally stock. I haven't had a single issue with it!

Are you still having oil consumption problems? If so dont let the dealership try and tell you its fine they tried that shit with me. I had finally flipped out on the guy and the next day he admitted I was losing to much oil and they replaced the engine. The engine had 32,000 miles on it I've got around 5,000 miles on new engine hopefully this is a good one I will be keeping an eye on the oil. Also having transmission problems as well it will be going back to the dealership for that.

How tf are you getting 18.7 mpg?! I'm jealous. My truck was stock and I wasn't even getting that. Now it's lifted on 35s and it's saying I'm getting 12.8 mpg. I bought it used but always thought my MPG seemed low. I'm about to buy a tuner to see if it'll help at all.

I have a bone stock 2018 with 3:55 gears 5.0 getting 18.7 to 21! My tires are stock 265’s. They are very heavy mud terrain tires, that the previous owner bought! I literally drive on Eco mode everyday and occasionally play on sport mode!
