Nice, I didn't know you could get custom tunes from 5 star uploaded to these sct programmers. I always thought you had to get a dyno tune directly from 5 star .I'll have to add this to my list . Thanks for the very descriptive video. I'll be referring back to this in the future .

If you guys want your 10-speed to shift smoother. You have to do 2 things. Drive consistently and finesse the pedal when you think it's about to upshift or downshift. It takes input from your foot on the pedal.

@@ProCharged7.3Godzilla hey I got a 2017 10 speed version of 3.5 ecoboost f150 n couple years ago I went with Mpt tunes on the nGuage n my biggest issue is the on/off throttle snatchy feel. Theres no feeling of throttle depth that I can control. It’s literally annoying around town cuz it’s not smooth. I like the on/off throttle of stock. I even payed to have them revise it and it’s still there. I just run it on transmission tune I hate it so much. How are ur guys tunes on that issue?

I’ve heard the 10 speed is a bit more finicky than the 6. My throttle sensitivity is very smooth, in fact better than stock as it’s way easier to modulate. Love that 6r80. I miss my King Ranch with the 6r80. It was strong and I never had an issue with it. I have had a 17 lariat 3.5 with the 10r80 and it shifted rough 4-5th when in the throttle even with a tune. Now I in a 17 Raptor and it's the same (maybe harsher). I'm awaiting my 5-star tunes to come in and it's gonna be a ripper im sure!

My 2021 F-150 is plenty fast enough, so my main thing is to get the tranny to operate more smoothly. Does this tuner help the notorious clunky shift patterns of the 10-speed tranny when running the truck on 87 performance tune while operating in "normal" drive mode?

I have the 6 speed, so can’t comment on how the 10 speed performs with this. However, I know 5 star does some trans adjusting, so I would be willing to bet it would help with the 10 speed as well. It feels very smooth and much better than stock.

I’ve got a 2020 3.5 with the 10 speed with five star tune. The shift out of first is still a bit clunky sometimes and going from park to drive or reverse. The rest of the shifting is amazing. It no longer skips gears like the stock shifting does and shifts through each gear seamlessly, you can’t even really feel it shift in normal driving anymore.

​@@Autofreakgarage I'm just recently contemplating looking at tunes from 5star for my '18 3.5. What all did you gain from it? I recently saw that the tune can disable the all stupid a.s.s system. That alone is worth it, if nothing else.

@philz9835 yes you can have that on/off. My truck doesn’t have it so didn’t need to mess with it. Never dyno’d it so don’t know exact numbers, but it’s extremely quick for a truck. It rips the tires off through second basically haha.

@@Autofreakgarage ha! Nice. Looking forward to that added tire cost. Bought mine used 6 months ago, 137k miles. Tow max package. Completely stock. 3.55 gears. Would be nice purely for towing (I'm usually well under 8k lbs). Plenty of hill climbs in Southern AZ. Though the extra punch is always a good time. I do know someone who has a private dyno who said I could use it. It would be interesting to find out. Thanks for the input!

They change the pedal sensitivity in the tune so it may be not usable.

I have a pedal commander on my 5.0 with a Diablosport tune. It works fine. The Trinity I use has been an excellent tuner with email tunes that work as good as dyno tunes. SCT should be able to do the same thing. If not I wouldn’t use it. 421 @ the wheels with nothing but a good tune. It just rolled over on 100,000 and no problems ever and a 120mph trap speed after over ten years of driving it to the strip and racing it regularly. If it blows I’ll just buy another one. I already got my moneys worth but the 6R80 is practically bulletproof. I don’t know about the 10R. I’ve heard good and bad from owners. I guess it depends on what you like.

You’re pedal commander is a poor man’s tune. No offense. If you want more throttle at lower input just ask whoever you use to tune it accordingly. I run a Livernois on my 22 f150, saw about 90 hp gain and close to 110 torque. The truck would be undriveable with more throttle input at those numbers, i break traction at a 40 mph roll when I hammer it.

Yes they do but remember I think you can only return to stock like 3 times before it locks the tuner and you have to have it sent in and unlocked

i love drive it in eco mode it shifts up early and shifts down late and is a bit lazy i love it it feels more controlled and less squirrely i know what you mean about normal mode tho its like it never sure about what to do

Unfortunately sport mode takes away about 1.5-2 mpgs the more you use it, the more mpg it will take, since you’re going through fuel more

Thanks for the video. Curious if you could provide any feedback on the 87 Eco tune? Does it actually provide noticeable improvement in MPG on, say, highway trips? I’ve read/heard that it basically drives without any boost, or very little boost, to maximize fuel economy. Wondering if you could substantiate that? Any comments appreciated.

Glad to help. I actually never tried the 87. I haven’t changed it from the 93 performance as I prefer the way the truck drives with this tune. I do a lot of around town driving, so the eco wouldn’t benefit my driving characteristics.

From what I’ve heard is the 87 isn’t very good it’s a little better then stock but not great just run the 91 we should be running 91 anyways to help the motor

What you are seeing there is them putting the battery on a tender or charger. Not to flash the vehicle. You have to do that with an obd2

Can do either or. Doesn’t need to stay plugged in always though. Once you flash, it’s flashed and it doesn’t need to remain plugged in.
