My wife's '06 Chevy Trailblazer lost its left upper caliper bracket bolt. She told me on a Friday evening that "It's been making a funny noise when I brake." The next day I took it for a ride to see what was going on. I backed up and braked. No noise. Went forward and braked. Lots of noise! Didn't take long to figure out what the problem was, didn't take long to fix it. A bit of material ground off the corner of the caliper, and a groove being cut into the wheel. Got a used wheel from the local automotive recycling facility, had my tire store swap the tire over, no more problems. Don't ignore noises!

@@fredblogs I noticed. I also noticed that the car named was a British model. Seems Britain is ahead of some places in North America by requiring safety inspections. I base that guess on some of the cars he's shown on this channel that have come in for something else. My mostly rural state doesn't require emissions tests on cars, but up here in winter salt wonderland most cars are pulled off the road for rust problems before emissions systems will cease to function. I once had to have *all* my break lines replaced to pas inspection, just because they were an older style prone to severe rusting issues. So when he shows cars with completely detached crossmembers due to rust I figure they don't do safety inspections. Sorry for the letter length reply. I do this when I get over tired. @@Dsdcain Annual MOT for vehicles is required after 3 years (It might be 4 now). Any fails have to be fixed before the MOT expires or it's illegal to drive. Partly why you don't see that many old cars on the road in the UK, an MOT with too many fails usually means a trip to the scrap yard either by the owner or a dealer who will part exchange it and sell off the parts. Cars ran without fan shrouds for generations. Unless you leave your car idling for extended periods, you can live without it for a while. Heck, I once removed a bad fan clutch - fan blade and all - from my pickup in November. I bolted the pulley back on temporary and then forgot to replace the fan and clutch until I did the next oil change in April. It was fine. Never overheated once. Okay, maybe I wouldn't have gotten so lucky if I lived in Florida, but I live in Michigan.
@JeffDeWitt Жыл бұрын
@@briancooper4959 Depends on the car. Studebaker Hawks have very large fan shrouds because the engine sits quite far back in the engine bay and without the shroud would need a really long extension to get the fan close to the radiator. @@eaglerider1826 I was wondering if he had the overheating problem first or not. Most cars do fine w/o a shroud. I honestly think they add them mostly because people like to stick their fingers into fans.
@garyszewc3339 Жыл бұрын
@@l337pwnage actually a shroud helps cooling a lot. It makes sure the fan pulls the air through the radiator, and not just push the air sideways.
@eaglerider1826 Жыл бұрын
@@l337pwnage The shroud does have a purpose to deflect the airflow to the radiator . I had a 1972 duster and was too lazy to reinstall the fan shroud after changing the belts and started having overheating issues . I put the shroud back on and solved the issue .

Well if lowering your car is your desire then removing the coils altogether will get the job done . The owner needs to cut off the converter and sell it to a school for up and coming techs to show what a converter looks like on the inside , perfect cross section and also what not to do with your suspension . If the clip for the pound notes under floor mat is from the UK we found the person who robbed the corner store , if the clip is from the US then its just odd ..

I do my own brake-pads and rotors. It's only a *little bit more costly* to just get new rotors... and it's *waaay* more convenient, because you can't drive your car without brakes to a place to get your old rotors machined. I don't remember what my point is, but maybe it was the 2:25 -- a driver shouldn't be emotionally-attached to brake rotors. Emotionally-attached to *having* brake-rotors.. yeah... I feel quite passionately about being able to stop my car. But emotionally-attached to a particular pair? That's kind of weird.
