My wife's '06 Chevy Trailblazer lost its left upper caliper bracket bolt. She told me on a Friday evening that "It's been making a funny noise when I brake." The next day I took it for a ride to see what was going on. I backed up and braked. No noise. Went forward and braked. Lots of noise! Didn't take long to figure out what the problem was, didn't take long to fix it. A bit of material ground off the corner of the caliper, and a groove being cut into the wheel. Got a used wheel from the local automotive recycling facility, had my tire store swap the tire over, no more problems. Don't ignore noises!

@@fredblogs I noticed. I also noticed that the car named was a British model. Seems Britain is ahead of some places in North America by requiring safety inspections. I base that guess on some of the cars he's shown on this channel that have come in for something else. My mostly rural state doesn't require emissions tests on cars, but up here in winter salt wonderland most cars are pulled off the road for rust problems before emissions systems will cease to function. I once had to have *all* my break lines replaced to pas inspection, just because they were an older style prone to severe rusting issues. So when he shows cars with completely detached crossmembers due to rust I figure they don't do safety inspections. Sorry for the letter length reply. I do this when I get over tired. @@Dsdcain Annual MOT for vehicles is required after 3 years (It might be 4 now). Any fails have to be fixed before the MOT expires or it's illegal to drive. Partly why you don't see that many old cars on the road in the UK, an MOT with too many fails usually means a trip to the scrap yard either by the owner or a dealer who will part exchange it and sell off the parts. Cars ran without fan shrouds for generations. Unless you leave your car idling for extended periods, you can live without it for a while. Heck, I once removed a bad fan clutch - fan blade and all - from my pickup in November. I bolted the pulley back on temporary and then forgot to replace the fan and clutch until I did the next oil change in April. It was fine. Never overheated once. Okay, maybe I wouldn't have gotten so lucky if I lived in Florida, but I live in Michigan.
@JeffDeWitt

@@briancooper4959 Depends on the car. Studebaker Hawks have very large fan shrouds because the engine sits quite far back in the engine bay and without the shroud would need a really long extension to get the fan close to the radiator. Last week a Lexus pulled into the small store parking lot across the road from my home. I was doing yard work. It made a left hand turn to leave the lot and I heard a THUNK noise and the car fell onto the right front tire. Both guys got out and were looking at the tire, so I walked over. One of them had just bought the car, and was driving it home. All five of the TOO SMALL LUGNUTS had pulled thru the rim.......The tire was being held on by 3 mm of aluminum metal. Two more tires had the same nuts, and one had the correct nuts. I let them borrow a low clearance jack to put the spare on and advised them to go straight to a parts store to get the right parts. Had a dealer try to convince me a 2wd was a 4x4 more then once. When i bought my 3500 the dealer kept trying to sell me a tahoe that cost more then the 3500 (8 years newer) and insisting it was a BETTER puller then a 1 ton ram..... Among other things. My guess is he went to one of those "general" brand dealers and since they know they will never see him again lied through their teeth. And keep in mind someone who never bought a truck before may not know better especially as many 4x4s have a single button now. Hell i have seen those fly by nights replace badges, decals, and manuals with ones from far more expensive cars and pass them off as the expensive version.

Well if lowering your car is your desire then removing the coils altogether will get the job done . The owner needs to cut off the converter and sell it to a school for up and coming techs to show what a converter looks like on the inside , perfect cross section and also what not to do with your suspension . If the clip for the pound notes under floor mat is from the UK we found the person who robbed the corner store , if the clip is from the US then its just odd ..

Ended up driving it home anyways as it was so close but it's definitely not something that can be this easily ignored, it's quite a grinding noise. On that last one... I was at a Goodyear in Colorado getting an oil change (because I had just moved and didn't have my tools!). My car was in the bay on the right and lifted to max height with the oil drain barrel and funnel underneath. All of a sudden, a tech drove another car into the bay next to it and accelerated to get up the lift ramp. The car fell off the ramp part and hit the control post for the lift. Everyone scrambled over to assist in that bay, meanwhile, I am watching my car on the lift slowly sink down towards crushing the oil drain barrel and funnel. I shouted to one of em and luckily they hit the emergency stop and locked it into place. They sent the dude driving the other car in for mandatory drug and alcohol testing, and I never went back to a Goodyear since.
