Looks AWESOME!! When you mentioned CADPAT, I laughed because when I first saw the pack on your chair, I said to myself that it looked like CADPAT green! Great job! Thanks for sharing the info!

I have a variety of surplus rucksacks. I have the big kitchen sink ACU large, the woodland ruck with mss carrier, and a medium Alice pack. I want to dye the ACU one, dark blue, along with the pouches, straps and kidney belt. I also have another set of ACU straps that I want to dye olive, along with a DCU kidney pad. Great video. Hope ya get more subs.

When You use Rit Apple Green Dye to dye Army Combat Uniform ( ACU) Universal Camouflage Pattern ( UCP), the fatigues end up looking like Mexican Army pixelated Camouflage Pattern, Russian Army Digital Flora,or, CADPAT Uniform.
@fifeohfarmingnstuff44164 жыл бұрын
Yup, I did 2 of them (ACU) , but I do 4 oz Green apple to 2 tablespoons of choclate in 3 gals of hot water along with the Salt n Vinegar. Came out good and I also did a boonie n ball cap.

Looks good... kinda looks like Mexican army ACU’s

It came out that way because you used an ENTIRE bottle of dye! Sheesh

Thanks for the video Nick. Yeah, the ACU doesn't work for me either. Don't understand that pattern at all. Maybe if you were in the desert sand at night or get transported into a Call of Duty video game (LOL)..

I'd like to go for a deeper "Ranger Green". Can you recommend a dye color or mixture and proportion of multiple colors to get there? RIT makes a "Dark Green" and an "Emerald Green". Maybe onea those and a smidge of Black? Maybe the Apple Green (+black) is still the ticket? Thanks in advance!

Green apple looks good. Has anyone tried more of a desert tan or brown, if so how did it turn out?
@StevenTheAristolianNerd5 жыл бұрын
You can find videos of brown. It comes out really dark and a little red, so in the red clay of Arizona go for it. Otherwise brown doesn't seem to be good for a whole lot else.

When I used the RIT Dark Brown Dey powder variety, all of my sample pieces (both cotton/nylon and nylon) turned purple, so beware and make sure to try it on a few pieces of spare equipment first.

If I want to dye a full uniform (pants, blouse, pack, and booney hat) how much water and bottles of dye should I use? Thanks!
@WintersKamp5 жыл бұрын
Robert West, It depends how big of a container you plan in using and how hot you can keep the dye bath. All of those at once probably won’t fit into a 5 gal bucket without over flowing during the stirring. I would recommend the washing machine method. And I would use a whole bottle. If it’s too light, do again with another bottle.
@robertwest42995 жыл бұрын
Winters Kamp thank you. Our washer hot line doesn't work. I may have to skip the pack. I'm doing this for hunting and can maybe get by without a pack.
@nathanc.88215 жыл бұрын
Robert West you could use some hot water in a large tub if it doesn’t fit in a 5 gallon bucket
@robertwest42995 жыл бұрын
Nathan C. I may do that. Thank you! I know I want them to all match so I would want to dye them together.

I use 1/2 cup apple green, 1/4 cup dark green and 2 tablespoons of charcoal grey, comes out an olive/foliage green color. The brightness from just apple green is too bright for me.

Camouflage is called UCP not ACU, ACU stands for Army Combat Uniform, UCP stands for Universal Camouflage/Combat Pattern, not like it matters, just some helpful info so you aren’t mislead Also someone else came up with this, I’m not gonna watch your whole video so I hope you give them props
