Great job! I really love spalted maple. Last fall I was cutting firewood. I cut through a maple tree with a chainsaw and realized it was spalted. I called a neighbor down the road who is a woodworker and let him know what I found. He was more than excited and came up and got the whole tree for some of his projects.

You made a modern folding chef knife look like it was made a long ago. The acid wash makes it look like cut stone and of course the wood is wood. Looks like you’d dig this up from an ancient burial ground lol. Great work.

Nice work! Much better looking now. Hope Kizer takes note.... I have three folders dedicated to kitchen duty and my better half likes using them more than the cheap kitchen knives she got when we bought the place.

Thanks for bringing us through the process, Nathan! Turned out fabulously, as always! The trick you used with the paper window is exactly what we used to do when cutting stone cabochons in my old jewelry business. Except we used plastic templates which could be purchased with various shapes and sizes so that we could isolate the section of material that would look the best for the project! 🗡️🙏👍

Awesome! Are you using a milling bit, or a split point conical drill bit for your pivot and scale holes? It looked like a drill bit in the chuck, but the holes had flat bottoms on the reassembly. ?

@@KnathansKnives That's great mate, & if I lived in the states I'd can assure you, I'd definitely be checking out the sale prices on that beauty, but I'm financially not a wealthy man & given the "grabby" nature of Australian customs & border force agents (they do a fantastic job!) I do need to be a little choosie where I purchase my knives from. Now.. my stupidly talented friend, knife scales on the other hand are far easier to import than the whole enchilada, so I would be very interested in a set of the momo scales as I'm suping one up as a gift to my cherished mumma as a new kitchen knife as she's been so kind, loving & caring to me, & those scales would be right up her street as she loves old antiques ect... So if you could let me somehow know where I can grab a set & if I can be assured of the same Impeccable quality, I'd CERTAINLY pick up a set off of you 😀👍. Let me know when you have some time spare mate, cheers. Please pardon my late response, just finished having a spinal procedure done at the hospital, so I've only been able to reply at this time. Cheers mate, & well done, you are certainly very talented 👍

How did you get the faux hamon I was super excited to see and hear how you achieved not only the faux hamon but just how you did the etch on the stainless etch on the 154cm I tried it once using ferric chloride on the copper handled towser k (in an attempt to darken the blades seriously to match the copper handle) was little success despite multiple dips in the ferric. This is my first time checking out your channel so perhaps you have a different videos or something with that process if you could Point me that direction or help me out here with what you did that would be much appreciated?
@KnathansKnives

I used a mix of Ferric Chloride(80%) & Apple Cider Vinegar(20%). I noticed that Kizer's 154CM Steel etches perfectly too! Here's my How-To video on the FAUX HAMON etch: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gHOsaKKeeaeUb80

Wow truly incredible. The show side the screws looked like they almost disappeared in the lines of the maple. Beautiful. What is the steel of the blade. When I etch I have only had luck with d2.

@@KnathansKnives thanks! good to know I’ve already had trouble with other steels. Etching a Pokémon into a stainless steel knife. (Tacky I know but I wanted to see if could do it). Can’t wait to see more of your custom stuff I really love the “rock” texturing you do on the spine truly amazing.
